2:38 No weight loss on keto?-what to do
In this video, we're going to talk about weight loss plateaus. I'm going to cover why you're not losing weight on keto, and also some keto weight loss tips.
    What is normal?
When someone does keto and intermittent fasting, they typically lose a lot of water weight in the first week, maybe even 8 pounds. But then, in the second week, they are hardly losing weight at all, maybe 2 pounds. Well, the maximum amount of fat you can lose per week with a healthy metabolism is only 2 pounds. 1/2 - 2 pounds in actually really good.
It's get healthy to lose weight, not lose weight to get healthy.
Your health comes first, weight loss second. If you start the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting and you're not losing weight, but you notice your hunger is gone, realize that it's working. You just need to give it more time because the body has to get healthy first.
Muscle weighs more than fat per volume.
If you have a loss of muscle protein, and you start the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, your body is going to repair that first. So, you might start to gain more muscle. You might notice that your waist is still shrinking, and that means it's working.
    Keto not working? Try this:
    1. Double-check your carbs
    2. Adjust your fasting pattern
    3. Cut down on vegetables if you're bloating
    4. Cut down your fat to about 75g
    5. Exercise
    6. Add 30 minutes - 1 hour of sleep
    7. Add apple cider vinegar, potassium, vitamin B1, magnesium, and vitamin D
    8. Reduce stress
    9. Fix health problems

I ignored the plateau. I just kept doing what I was doing, stayed away from the scale for 2 weeks and the weight fell off. Be patient. Thanks Doc for keeping us informed.

Let me let this right. You spend 15-50 years destroying your body, but are impatient that you're not fixed in a month. This is similar to AA. it is a simple program, but,it's not easy. A lot of the comments seem to indicate snacks or cheat days.

Is it just me? Two pounds a week seems like great progress. That's a pace for 104 pounds in a year! What more could you want?

Your videos have been inspiring for me, I've been Keto for a year now and lost 60lbs. I went thru a lot of what you mentioned. Learning to be patient and consistent were so important. I'm no longer a diabetic, last A1C was 5.3 and I'm very close to my goal weight. Thanks for the videos!!

Been keto now for 2.5 weeks only. The most immediate change is that my gastric problems have disappeared. Doctor said gastric issues were caused by gallbladder and wanted to remove it but despite high fat consumption, I have no issues. Lost 11 lbs so far but now slowing. I tell myself the body is busy healing itself and will get to weight loss when it's free. Felt really tired last week, upped the salt and took electrolytes first thing and lemon water and feeling better now.

Omg I’ve been doing keto wrong. I was doing it to lose weight instead of getting healthy. Thank you Dr Eric for rekindling my love for ketogenic.

Get healthy first.....that was what I really needed to hear. I don't crave junk food anymore and I have control over my food. For that I am truly grateful. Weight loss is slow but I am post menopausal so that is normal

Damn. Glad I clicked this. I'm not gonna step on the scale. I feel great. Does anyone else wake up on a body clock early now? Full of energy? That was the first thing I noticed after the first week or so lol

The first thing you said was the most important and resonated with me. Normal is 1-2lb a week after the initial water weight. I lost a few lbs on week one and then nothing on weeks 2 and 3. Now , TOTAL is 7-8 lbs for first month.

I’ve on keto 2 weeks as a beginner so I’m still learning. I’m 55 obese female and my joints use to hurt so bad. The first week on it, my joints were less hurtful. My 55 year old, non keto normal size husband is the one with hurting joints.
