finished making everything proficient gear wise with tombs farm before it was nerfed and all stayed proficient. gear was the first thing every i know got out of the way then named items and weapons were last, the exotics are a pain in the butt. our order was .. all brand sets, all gear-sets, all select-able skills, most friends now level 17-20 now and just optimizing favorite stuff and upgrading expertise on all load outs.
Good info, but I actually think it's better to farm the brand sets and other gear sets FIRST then do the pistols/ other weapons, cause once you are over the "hump" of doing the brandsets/ other gear sets *(takes 10 per prof level)* FIRST, it's ALL downhill when doing the pistols/ other weapons since it's only *(2 per prof level)*. Then finally do the named items and skills

Et voilà, expertise comes automatically over time by just spending materials without trying to rush through content again or trying to make another stupid, alleged rocket science from it in order to lash out more "Splain it to me!" videos and then sit there and cry again for new game content. How's that? But hey, who do I know. The YT mansplainer aka "content creators" think they always knew more about my games than I...they are so superior in skills and knowledge about everything... I like the flexibility in how you can become Proficient with all of the different gear, weapons, and etc. I do wish we got some bonus for just becoming Proficient. Also, I think they should make the Expertise upgrades applied to all copies of that item.
For example if you upgrade a Famas, then the upgrade would be on any Famas you loot or own. Same with gear. It makes sense, because if you can become Proficient with all the pieces of a brand/gear set and all new looted drops by just equipping say the holster. Then what would be wrong with the upgrades carrying over as well?
Might even save the Devs some server space when you think about how many players there are and the data for keeping track of specific items and copies of those specific items.
I only save guns that come with damage to target out of cover so I can always roll the talent.
that will be great but they will not allow it because if a player with level 20 get a famas with that expertise and he/she are in a group with a friend that DO NOT have any expertise, they will drop it and now he/she will have a level 20 expertise famas even if he/she are in expertise level 1
unless they block the drop option, then they will not make that you get a copy of the same gun with the expertise you have
It’s an end game mechanic. Meant to give purpose to maxed out players. Giving them something to play for...
I effing hate farming. All I'm doing is playing the game with my favorite builds, enjoying my favorite activities and picking up whatever weapons and gear that happened to drop and donating those items to my expertise. Overtime, and eventually, everything I have will be proficient, without it making it feel like farming.

I too have just been playing but the Expertise system has had me switch out to new builds and use different gun combos.
I just run around picking everything up as junk and donate. I'm not real big on grinding for expertise levels, it will come with time. See everyone ran through the season already like myself and have maxed out expertise and complain there is nothing to do and blame the Devs for shit.
Where do you donate items for expertise leveling?

Once you get proficient with some items, deconstructing those items for resources and continuously churning the resulting excess resources into proficiency is one of your best options to boost your levels, imo. Especially the weave/receiver parts. After about the first week or so I was pushing 800-1200 (so three hits on an items proficiency) after each and every countdown. If any of my green or blue resources (and it should be noted - you get an absolute ton of resource drops in countdown) crept up to around 1400, I’d push some of that back into proficiency as well. I usually leveled a named/exotic item from one to ten every other day.
You can also use countdown to farm resources once you’ve gotten your proficiency. Want blue mats? Farm green gear sets. Need steel? Farm weapons.
I knocked out all my gearsets and brandsets, except for Yaahl, before the rollback. I was 12 before the rollback. I'm 8 now. I need to focus on weapons to get my level back up. They never should've rolled back people who weren't over 20.
For those who don’t know on map go to countdown and select your gear or gun you want. It’s just like selecting in summit.
I’ve been doing this technique before the update. It’s what made sense to me from the beginning.

Shocked you made it that far LOL. Was stuck at level 3 for the longest time but my main issue was I just didn't have the materials so I was crushing everything until I made another character rather than donating them at the expertise table. Also doing runs at countdown is the fastest way to get loot to donate (I was mostly just doing random activities using the gear I wanted to increase). This was a very slow way indeed. And like the poster says, go for guns first as the targeted loot. Wish I figured this out a few weeks ago or stumbled upon this video earlier. Had to figure most of this out on my own. Would be at level 12 instead of level 6.

I would make one suggestion. I have leveled up some of my raid exotics using printer filaments ONLY. Because about 3 runs I will set my loot to either gear mods or skill mods, farming for 'God rolls' on the mods. You can get about 30 mods per run, and I have been able to get about 200 filaments per countdown (depending on the stats of the mods). And since the amount of filaments needed to increase a skill is relatively cheap, you aren't losing more critical resources. Yes, it takes a while to max the printer resources, but given I haven't been able to attend a raid (PC crashing problems which have gotten much worse and haven't had the right gear until now), it is a decent way to level up those items/weapons that are difficult to get.
for Skills... They are shared between characters, if you have a good SHD # (I'm 2900+) start a new Character and run NY again and then use the SHD reward to scavenge for $$$, buy skill mods and deconstruct them to get Printer Filament and donate that to level up your skills. I get about 2100 SHD rewards and upgraded 6 of the skills I use... just to Run NY solo takes 5hrs.. just do the missions...

This may have been mentioned but my process is to mark anything I don’t need as junk, go straight to expertise and donate junk, and deconstruct anything left.

Another advice : go countdown with at least 60 free slots in you inventory.
Grab every loot as "junk" and give everything to expertise no matter if its good or not ...

This is exactly what I have been doing. Just target what you need play how you want to play. I found my flamethrower tip of the spear smg build is by far the best thing in countdown for me. Was crit ting 1.3 million per shot at 900 rpm’s for heck’s sake the other day.

Very helpful. Thanks. Appreciate the tip on the PVP gun, as I don't play PVP. Are the exotic pistols in the general loot pool, or are they limited to PVP or Dark Zone?
Think they're mostly from raids except for the Liberty which you have to craft after doing a couple of missions in a specific order.
When farming countdown using 6 pieces of the same family you just need 2 runs to get master, but for the loot its better to put weapons and farm hunters for named items.
At least do 3 and 3 so you're somewhat useful. I see 6 of the same items and rainbows they get the boot
@@kingslayerz1874 Countdown is so easy that the only real requirement is SHD1000 on the watch. With the bonus of SHD1000 you can run any 6 pieces of the same brand/gearset and still be usefull.
Just use the Scorpio shotgun and at least revive hive (just in case ...) and you can play with anything ....
For exemple with some brands I didnt had the 6 pces so I just crafted the one missing, without any recalibration, and still get "usefull" on the run ...
Also I never been kicked from the group because using 6 pces of the same brand ...
I'm trying to optimize my gear by deconstructing items for materials and if i have max on one of them then i donate some to weapons that i have fully optimized and i already have Bellstone, Gilla, Striker, Hunter, H.Breaker, Memento, Fox Prayer and the ACS1S fully proficient by playing
I also noticed if you wear 3 pieces of each gear set and use them while farming for weapons. That you level up you gear sets quickly!

I can tell you I do get Player Endorsements often wnen I help others. I like this more than COD! I turned to Level 30 yesterday. Watching your videos here helps me comprehend the ideals of playing. I am Boss Masato. Maybe, we will run into each other hopping it is on good terms. That DZ gets real difficult on your own. The NPCs, come for you in real tactical style. I need some buddies going in there. I have not done any of the expansions yet like NY. I have just been leveling up and customizing Weapon Layouts or sets. I did not know there is so much more involved!

The other question, which I can't find the answer to is - does the world difficulty (heroic, for example) makes the level up process of expertise faster? Do you get more XP or any other pros? Or should I lower the game difficulty to normal to level up expertise easier?
Yep totally agree go into Countdown with at least 50 empty slots on ur main character and put the rest of ur spare gear on a duplicate character uve already got to Level 40 in New York expansion.
If you want to get yaal gear you have a chance to get it when rolling randoms in the crafting station.

if your like me and you hit every small box in missions id recommend donating all materials 1 time that way when you run something like air and space museum you can hit the small storage boxs and get those components back

Question anyone had issue with the specialization weapon being considered a exotic item every time I try to add second exotic says my Rocket luncher is one of my exotic items
Its considered an exotic for the speed at which it gains levels thats why its categorized as it
I'm tracking the progress of different items/skills while doing countdown.
Skills/weapons take around 22 matches to full level up so it worth change them. Specialization in other hand dont even bother, it takes over 100 matches to level up each, so it's better run what you like and use filaments for the others. For filaments you dont need SHD mule, 1 countdown run targetting mods will net you around 250 filaments. Other way would be sell all the stuff you get, buy mods from the vendor and turn them into filaments. Either way will be faster than run over 100 countdowns with one specialization.
About the gear sets usually 2 countdown runs are enough if you're wearing 6 pieces and it requires 3-4 runs if you're wearing 4 pieces, so just run 6 pieces. You can plan ahead what you'll do, like run 6 striker pieces, and you know you need couple gila pieces so you target gila while doing striker just enough to have 6 pieces to wear then you change the farm to other brand that you need pieces. Whatever pieces you dont need to have 6 you can donate.
For named items buy what you can specially dz exclusives like Fenris chest from last week. Dont worry too much about the regular ones (like fox, contractors, zero f,...) we get a lot of drops and you can donate all the bad rolls you get while you're focused on everything else and by the end some will be proficient, some will be half way through and you can finish them up filaments.
And yes farming weapons it's the way to go, in one day I went from 2/24 proficiency in pistols to 21/24 by targetting pistols and donating all of them.
Skillz we spoke on your earlier video about expertise system and how it wasnt broken when leveling up, So someone comment on my post and said donation give you 1 point, toward your requirement for your expertise level . When get kill exp it give you 2 point on your expertise level , so if you only donated toward expertise level you will be short when you try to max out your expertise level

You should farm green gear sets to DECONSTRUCT THEM FOR BLUE MATERIALS. This is one of the easiest way to get blue materials. Farm whatever you need for materials for expertise. Proficiency WILL come in time, you just need to make sure you have enough materials to actually expertise your stuff.

that's pretty much what i did but i had a ton of dz credits as well as normal currency so bought a lot, did a few mule characters as wony takes like, 5 or 6 hours solo, so im up to 18 now with a couple of the green brandsets left. Taken a break from farming it, gonna hit a couple of mules after doing the apparel event.
all i'd say is use your mule watch levels on items you're gonna find it hard to get a lot of, like eagle bearer/vast majority of exotics, skills, the dz exclusives etc. im pretty much 2 mules off 20 now. but then will need to redo the mules for more watch levels to use on levelling things up etc. its not gonna be a quick thing

Im expertise lv 10. I finished all gear sets and brand sets first. Those were easy. Now I focus only on weapons and skills. Works like a charm.

@@RevolutionNexus I used 6 pc of a gearset or a brand set, and farmed another set in countdown. ALOT of countdown. Once the weapon grind start its going fast.

I was going to say, reading these comments on all these people eating up what he's saying. There definitely no fast way to do this system, but donating 30 printer filament for the same XP as donating multiple hundred of materials seems a little broken if you as me. they should all be 30 materials. If the max level is only 20, seems fair.
Community asks for fixes, they give us a new broken system and gear they can't make their minds up on over numbers.... not trying to rant, but that's all this game ever makes me do anymore.
Hello, can you tell me why I cant upgrade weapons I got proficient by donating?? I am at expertise level 4 and can only update gear that made proficient by playing with it, but not the ones I got proficient by donating, is this normal???
Even having the materials I just don't get the option to do so.....

Not me I never took off my hardwire and I farm countdown I'm done with all name brand sets all green sets AR's done shotguns done smgs done just farm till you're pack is full go to table get rid of those and so on
On the skills, do they get points just by having it equipped like a second weapon, or to you have to use it? Would you get more point on a turret by dropping it, deconstruct it, cool-down and drop it gain. Or do it have to be killing to get the points. What about the revive hive? Would it be better to just let yourself get killed so it can raise you, cool-down and kill yourself again, or can it level up and you never used it.
The bad thing is you have to deconstruct items so you have the mats to craft and optimize . You have to sell items to get credits so you can can buy the named items so you can donate them to the Expertise. I can understand the grind but when you have a job and only get to put in less than 10 hours a week, it disheartening to think how long its going to take you max out.
Skills I play the shit outta this game and only level 4.5. These tips were a big help, thank you. There's so much to this game I forget stuff and just grind it out. Headed to the crafting table cya.
Anyone know the cap at the countdown credits? I'm currently testing it out. I'm up over 3k countdown credits at the moment so next target of possible cap I'm guessing will be 5k. Should get there sometime today, or tomorrow.
You missed an important point though, if you have not completed the Iron Horse raid with your character to get the Regulus pistol then Yes countdown is perfect for farming pieces as you need a complete set of Foundry and Future Inititive to get to the regulus blueprint. A round of countdown will get you at least 1 of each piece....

Yes you can use credits but the credits don’t pass or are shared between characters which I think is stupid they should be shared
After the reduction of expertise levels it dropped my expertise of 2 to 1 and will not level up any more and will not let me donate to raise said items either so I'm stuck at expertise level one despite playing 3 to 4 hrs a day since Pease me of royally.
why do people say to farm summit level 10? is it not as efficient to farm all the way up to 100th floor?
i solo most of the time so i've just been doing control points in the zones with gear i need. it goes fairly fast as so much loot drops from CPs. i do some summit here and there as well.
Slap 4 directives on Cps and watch the gear drop
@@codyvarga9002 yup, i run it with 2-3 directives at the moment and i'm even noticing a lot of exotics dropping as well.

In the SMG section of the expertise bench towards the bottom there's a UMP45. Not UMP-45 or any variant, just UMP45, white text, nothing special. I've run dozens of countdowns, some with SMG targeted, and have been donating everything. I'm at 0 proficiency on the UMP45. Does this gun exist?
What's the best way to level up the Specialisation Weapons like the Tac-50? Just use it?
Yeah and donate materials printer But don’t do it till the very end no reason to focus on that at the start
I do the Summit and keep going until I’m full and repeat. I thought the Dev’s were supposed to give us our expertise points back, that were lost from the update.
Leveling was fast until I beat warlords and am now level one nothing seems to help not even outposts

i´m currently at level 16 and now leveling up is very difficult, especially if your clock is not greater than 1000 SHD as it is in my case.
I've been farming weapons, mods and gear but certain things just DO NOT drop to me, for example a the SMG UMP45, it wont drop, I have since the expertise mode came out and so far I have not dropped any
so, that´s why i have been farming materials to donate, of curse using skill and weapons that i dont have competent. that way i level up does things and farm materials to level up other things
the bad part it´s that IT WILL TAKE to long to level up to level 17
Dont use the countdown currency to buy named items they always sold by mendoza vendor just buy exotic to level up your weapon above level 10

I did the same thing, wearring gear sets and farm the same gear set, im level 9 finaly, i was level 8 before the roll back :(
Good tips. A bit late for me, lol. I'm already maxed out at 344 Proficiency / Expertise Level 20. A lot o resources to grind for each. The really best way to grind them is in Countdown. Do not donate your Exotics for Proficiency. SAVE ALL EXOTICS to upgrade your weapons, gears and skills above Level 10.
what exotics? have yet to get ONE to drop in countdown lol
@@anthonystaggs6239 target weapons and you'll get it. Targetting gear almost never drops, target something that you know there's easy drops like smg for chatterbox, shotguns for sweet dreams, assault rifles for capacitors you get one of those every other run.

Every weekend I create another character and than spend the points on cash and buy every weapon on sale I'm not proficient with as it's only 2 each level , for about 5 hours work it's alot of levels and also level up gold items while doing the 30-40 also. Make the mules work 😅
Great tips Skills. I gained a few tips. Another thing I found is character mules are great especially if you have a high SHD watch. If you have “friends” (rolling thru the missions with you) can run through NY. You can literally level up a lev 30 character in 3-4 hours. If you wanted to delete a char and rinse and repeat. Comes in hand for optimization too. 😅
takes 4 hours to do it solo, with friends it should take 2, 3 tops.
Killing two birds with one stone is good, but killing two stones with one bird makes you a Pokémon master.
DO NOT buy anything in the countdown vendor other than exotic caches, that is the bottleneck in expertise and upgrading
Guys donate gear and weapons i went from expertise level 3 to level 7 just from donating junk gear and donating materials. Its a grind but its worth it and it works it's the fastest way to level up expertise you don't have to use the other gear you can use what you want just donate stuff.
And here I did all the Gear and brand sets minus the named ofc, all in 2 days. BUT man do I hate these weapons, exotics and named... But I definitely agree Countdown is where its at assuming you dont crash every 2 seconds and the server doesn't lag out your teammates. BTW obviously Im talking about PC. You console players are beyond blessed in this regard.

Another mistake I did was do not "DECONSTRUCT" items. That was a bad mistake from me because I would've had higher expertise, damnit!

The issue is not leveling, it’s the cost to upgrade. It’s gets very expensive as you go higher.
I mean only pick the items you love using. No reason to have every item lvl 20

It do cost to much.. For 1 gun it cost 55 exotic components, just for the gun alone... Then you have mask, vest, holster, kneepads, gloves and backpack to upgrade armor.. Thats ALOT of exotic components!! And on top of that you need all the other materials! Its just stupid! The devs talk about build diversity, thats not happens with this system
@@NothingButSkillz Is there any real reason to actually level up armor pieces? Kingbreaker +10% wepon damage before the multiplicables yes... But say 4 piece Bulwalk with +10 on 4 pieces would give you (170000*0.10)*4=68000 a whole lot of nothing and the resources spent to get there, ouch. Or does it work differently?

that really doesnt make sense..it all has to be leveled to raise your exp....you leveled the fast ones first..but you will fall right into place farming the hardest ones next...just put reds on aleast 3 of the brand set pieces to still deal out decent damage
