- In this episode at the modern image 'OO' gauge layout New Junction we continue pause work on building the 4-track ECML mainline and take a trip to the Spalding model railway show 2022. As previousy seen The Model Centre weathered and graffitied my rake of accurascale IIA biomas hoppers which we get chance to run on the Hornby Magazine Layout 'West Coast Cement'.

What a great layout! All the various aspects and features come together and give a very realistic look indeed. I model the early 60's in the US midwest so dirt, grime, and disorder are present, but I'm happy I don't have to apply all that graffiti to my freight cars. Cheers from Wisconsin!

The IIAs look pretty damn good in a passing rake. Weathering and graffiti now seem to be essentials on the models/layouts for any semblance of realism. Gone are the days of everything shiny, pristine, regimented and uniform including the scenic accessories. Filth and entropy is the key! (Dean Park take note!) I have virtually all my rolling stock to do after the layout itself is mainly completed.
Have you seen Minsterley layout? For authenticity and weathering it is the absolute very best and looks real 👍

superb layout, and it really shows off those hoppers well! I am very tempted to send some stuff to TMC for weathering, I'm not quite brave enough to go for the graffiti option but they certainly do a good job, and for the work involved I think the prices are very reasonable.

Great video and the trains look awesome on the layout. It gives you motivation to run home, get the tools out, and get cracking on your own New New Junction to have that experience non-stop now, right? Right??? lol

The biomass rake looks superb on a superb layout. I had planned to be at Spalding in person but couldn't make it down in the end so thanks for this upload Richard. Hopefully catch it soon enough, are there any other outings planned for 'Not West Coast Cement'?

I am about to build my first layout, it’s going to be a DCC. I’m using 00 Hornby set track and flexi track only because I have it in boxes for years, unused. I also want to use up my Hornby insulated points ( R 8072 & R 8073 ). Am I wise using these points at the start of a layout build and I will need additional points. Will I stick with these points ?. Most of my locos are long and heavy like the Deltic, Eurostar etc. I’m using seep point motors with switch for feedback. Do I need to remove the spring from the points?. I’d appreciate your thoughts on this. Keep up the great videos.

Seeing the HSTs will you be getting any LNER in Intercity swallow livery be it the correct one or the off one they use. Can some one explain shunt wagons used like in the LNER with dbl header why is it needed love the hopper wagons. Would love you to speakers in them to get the strain clanking and other noises they make.
