I would really like to have an alliance with the Fallen. They seem really relatable to humans/exo/awoken. Looking out for themselves, a race on the edge of extinction and are left to survive in the universe. We have common enemies, we both fight hive, both fight vex, haven't seen them fighting Cabal, but I would assume they would fight them too. We're both surviving in the edge. Why not form an alliance, band together and kick ass? Just some interesting brainstorming. Maybe in the House of Wolves DLC...
They burnt down London, they almost took the City in the battle of Twilight Gap, and they keep human bones and organs as trophies. I don't disagree that we have some things in common, but we would have to forgive a whole lot.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker There is also concept art of fallen and cabal hunting guardians in the jungle. I do not believe that they are minions of the darkness such as the hive or vex but rather exploit its presents as a means to obtain resources from planets or civilisation as can be seen by the fallen's attempts to extract glimmer in public events.
I absolutely love that story of the guardian and the Exiled fallen fighting together, and that kind of temporary understanding they had built between themselves.
People complain about the lack of story and lore within the game, but I think it's perfect. I like being able to investigate and discover things for myself instead of having it all handed to me in exposition. Really gives me the feeling that we have this vast open universe to explore
In many ways we can relate the Fallen to the Sanghelli of Halo (Destiny's new elites??) I find it most interesting that they have similarities: Were once a proud and powerful race, with many houses led by powerful Kell's, much like the elites with their states and Kaidons. Both have some form of honor bounds, as evidence from the grimore card in Destiny, and a terminal from Halo 2 anniversary.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker Lets also not forget that the fallen may in a future Destiny game, may seek to ally themselves with humans, seeing that they already have allied themselves with The Queen and The citizens of The Reef.
Great Series! Useful when you consider the game itself doesn't really do much to inform a player about the universe, at least not yet. Anywho, more of a fun fact than ground-breaking information: The story you told in the beginning about the fallen Dreg fighting the Hive alongside a guardian, was told by Cayde-6, the vanguard of the hunters. Another fun fact: He's only vanguard because he lost a bet, he makes it obvious through some of his dialogue that he doesn't want to be there, it hilarious. " Hey um ... -whisper- take me with you " -Cayde-6
The Fallen, to me, appear to be more of a once united society, that had a heavy caste system not based on power nor wealth, but worth. Take the dregs for example, they are the smallest, weakest, and are mostly cannon fodder. But they prove their worth by destroying enemies, gathering scrap, and relics that make the house that they belong to stronger. If they prove their worth, they are granted their limbs once more, and serve as shock troops, which are the Vandals, who appear to be the most flexible yet unrefined tools the Fallen have to offer. As they rise, they are given the responsibility of Captain, who must be an iron fist to rule out those that cannot prove their worth. A step higher are the Barons, who command a single Skiff, and all the crew that are onboard, including other Captains. Now those devout enough to the Servitors, the beings that give the life-blood of their race: Ether, can become Archons, who seem to either answer directly to the Prime Servitor, or they are in joint-command of the Prime alongside possibly the highest rung of the caste system; Archon Priests. If there is a higher position than that, that information is not yet revealed. The Priests seem to be able to move freely between Houses as they see fit, seeing that they and the Archons are maybe the only way that the Primes and the Fallen have their symbiotic relationship, a bridge, so to speak. Now the reason their Houses are divided, and why the Fallen are named so, is maybe due to the fact that the Darkness came and eradicated them, broke them, due to a lengthy Grimoire card titled Ghost Fragment: Fallen 2, that states near the end "what I cannot steal from and you cannot take from the dark you can claim only pain from the dark and that is why the dark is worthy of love beyond all other love that astonishing ability to evade being robbed." So maybe the Darkness saw the Fallen once as an enemy, but the Fallen allied themselves with it somewhat, and that alliance caused competition amongst the Houses; Which one can prove their worth to the Darkness? All ideas and opinions are based on self observations and the lore that is currently provided by Bungie.net.
yeah i saw in a gromoire card that their society and technology show some kind of "lost nobleness" (that was a quick translation from spanish). i believe they were once a strong and united empire, based on honor and some kind of monarchy. maybe they also had their own collapse and are now just some heartless pirates. i also heard that they found a way to restore a dead fallen's soul, like they say in the winter run strike "we have to get to the priest before they fully restore his soul"
These videos are astounding. I've spent the last hour and a half watching all of your lore series currently published, and you, sir, have some quality content. I subbed after the first video, and I doubt I'll ever regret it. Destiny has a story…you just have to go outside the game to find it.
This makes so much sense. Especially with all the relevant intel on the upcoming DLC 'House Of Wolves' with an Arena Strike and everything. Love your videos man! They keep me interested in the game!
I don't think the story to Destiny is bad, rather unfinished. When it ended I thought it was the end of act one and that two thirds of the game were left to go. It isn't a case of the story being bad but not seen through to the end. That being said, the lore and the universe of this game is just so mythic and it is utterly engrossing. I think that is why the abrupt ending annoyed me so much, because I love exploring this universe and I just wanted more of it.
Wally Well if the Halo novels are anything to go by, I would love to read Destiny novels. And I think it's confirmed that there is additional story DLC on it's way!
I really dig these vids! But there are some things about the fallen many people do not know. The Main Things people dont know about the fallen is that they actually do not worship the darkness. The fallen were came to our solar system because they were following the traveler who left them after the darkness became an overwhelming threat. They are here to overtake the traveler again. There is much evidence to this. The fallen has said "It's the Darkness" when fighting a guardian. Fallen base their prime servitors off of the traveler. The fallen captains have similar abilites of a hunter blade dancer (Teleporting, invisibility, ark blades). Another important fact is the goal of each fallen house Before the collapse they all wanted to take back the traveler. Now the houses have different objectives. Devils - Destroy Humanity and build their house up in Old Russia. (Newer House) Kings - Take over Traveler. It is important to note that the House of Kings deceives the other houses, mainly Devils, to due their bidding. They are more stealthy and tend not to attack directly. (Old House) Winter - Focus of Vex Technology (Old House) Exile - Form a colony on the moon (They are worried about survival, they are made up of rejects) (Newest House) Wolves - Destroy Humanity and Take over Traveler. They are much more aggressive than the House of Kings and attack directly to achieve their goals. (Old House) Judgement - Unite Fallen again (Old House) There are more house but little to none is known. Houses of Stone (Still alive), Rain (Destroyed in Whirlwind), and Scar (Destroyed by Winter, It is believed that Taniks, the SCARed is one of the surviving members though) It is important to note that the only the house of winter and what was left of the house of scar joined the house of Wolves. The wolves were trying to make an alliance with the House of Devils and Kings. The Kings sent to Barons to try and kill the Wolf baron. The Rivalry between Wolves and Kings is still on of the most heated rivalries. The House of Exile was never picked to join the House of Wolves. And the House of Judgment is against them. NOTE* House of Judgment is not technically allies with Awoken but they serve them. it is unaware how the House of Judgment fell under the Queens rule. IF you read this than thanks!
Great job on the lore video, I think destiny has one of the most interesting fantasy universes I have seen in a while. I'm looking forward to the rest of your series.
Halfway through the first episode. I gotta say, I'm loving it. As someone whose entire game library consists of mostly single-player games flooded with story, and a certain deep involvement in a game's universe (Such as Kingdom Hearts) that get you invested in the characters and your own character, inviting you to immerse yourself in your own imagination, I found Destiny to be a little lacking. I'm one of the few who play the Halo games for the story. The matchmaking and multiplayer is fun, but I look forward to each game of the series for the continuation of the story. That's what made us as players feel a connection to Chief, Cortana, and the Arbiter. The Grimoire cards have so much awesome story that I think would make for awesome cutscenes or something, and I think BUngie needs to work on that for the next episode/installment. I listen to the podcast 'Guardian Radio' and they spoke with Deej about this, and he said they are aware of many people wanting more story, so we'll hopefully see SOME increase in story for those of us that care. Until then, it's nice to see stuff like this, where someone cares enough to put the time into making these videos. The way you present the story reminds me of the podcast 'Hardcore History' by Dan Carlin, and I think you do a great job at reading, but also staying engaging. You've earned a subscriber, and I look forward to more! (Seeing as how I just got all of Kabr's raid gear, maybe a video on him and his adventure could be in the future? :3)
I'll see what I can do, Kabr is limited on story from what I have read, and honestly, I have to a lot of connecting the dots here to make these videos work. I am glad you are enjoying the content, the videos sort of change as I try out and attempt to branch, I don't want to just read cards for people, I want them to be as if you are in a room with me, engaged in conversation.
Wally Yeah! As i'm on the Hive video now, wrapping up the current playlist of lore videos, i've gotten that impression. (Which is a good thing) It's not just reading cards, but encouraging critical thinking as well as educating. I doubt a whole video on Kabr can be done, but I found it interesting the role he played in the VoG. Something you don't readily learn when you do the raid. Many exotic weapons and armor have tales of their own as well, which again, unless you read the cards, you have no idea exists! I don't know what you have planned for future episodes, but I figured i'd merely suggest future ideas/topics. :3 Keep at it, mate!
Thank you sir, and I am completely okay with criticism, I welcome new topics and potential changes, Kabr and another more speculative version of VoG are on the list of things I want to talk about though.
Nice video! Just one thing i would like to add. There are Five (5) fallen houses in the game House of devils- operates on old russia, inmediate threat to the city House of kings- also operates on old russia, not much is know about them House of exile- Present on the moon, seems to be a rather new house House of winter- Present on venus House of wolves- the queen of the reef seems to have gained control of this house, so i assume its present on the reef. Its implied that the warrior society of the fallen allowed the queen to gain control of this house when she defeated the leaders.
DiGreatDestroyer Are there any extra houses? When I made this video, I didn't know the House of Kings were even in the game, sort of a huge error on my part. Interesting regardless and thank you!
I love your Destiny lore videos, and I hope you continue to develop them. You approach them very thoughtfully and you deftly cross compare the lore to infer more.
Wally - Lore Seeker Are you going to remake any of your older videos? It seems like your standards have become more developed since and I started wondering if you would.
As you spoke a thought kept coming to me, good and evil is only a matter of perspective, so maybe what we consider to be light(traveler) threatens what the consider
The story of the hunter fighting alongside the vandal brings me to two connections. In Halo: Evolutions, there is a story called Mona Lisa, where humans team up with an Elite to fight the Flood. I have always made the Covenant/Fallen connection, and the Flood/Hive connection. Another thing it makes me think of is one of the covers and beginning of the John Carter of Mars book, "God of Mars" where John and Tars Tarkas, a 4 armed alien, take on swarms of single minded fiends.
I love these Lore vids. I understand and respect everyone's opinions, but I just don't see a major problem with this game. The play videos are awesome, and listening to these Lore videos actually compelled me along with Bloodborn to finally buy a ps4. I'm excited to try this it looks awesome.
My opinion on gaming is that is subjective, so what you enjoy is what you enjoy and what other people say really shouldn't have an effect on your opinion. This game is pretty sweet.
Being a big Demons/Dark Souls fan, coming to Destiny was easier for me than it might have been for others. I can totally get someone wanting to understand the world they're playing in, but I feel the fragmented story fits well with how the game is being released. I think it's great that a good portion of the juicy info has to be discovered on your own (via grimoire cards, etc). However, with Bungie releasing sizable DLC content packs for the foreseeable future, I think it was ultimately a good move to keep the story a little convoluted. That way, you aren't just downloading more guns, maps, armor, etc, you're also getting more pieces of the puzzle that is the Destiny universe. I think it's a brilliant move, marketing-wise, of selling their content, and ultimately makes playing the game and future content more worthwhile for us gamers.
I agree with you, I understand the story in Dark Souls is pretty vague, and you have to discover it via exploration and investigation. While Destiny wasn't originally planning that, for what I what gathered, I have no problem with the way they delivered the story.
That without a doubt is very cool indeed. Wish I could back body parts, but I know the dregs do this sort of as an initiation ritual, once they have achieved a certain level(?) in their society they are aloud to regrow their arms.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker according to the grimore yes they can but are not allowed to until they prove themselves. Also the house of exile has the highest percentage of dregs
well is it not also interesting that they are on the moon where the hive live. Seemingly attempting to take the moon from the hive when it has no practical purpose to do so.
Instead of Grimoire, they should have, I don't know, MAYBE PUT IT IN THE GAME. Then we'd be actually interested in things instead of just half-assed grinding.
I like to think of the fallen society as if it were medieval europe. you have each house as a country: spain, france, england, etc. each has a kell, or king, and they all swear allegiance to the pope, or Prime. the archon priests, or bishops/archbishops/etc arent required to pick a house to live in, as they are separate system from the kells while still maintaining a higher status then a kell
I believe that the house of wolves is the house that broke from the empire to join the awoken. Eventually some of them would begin to disagree with the awoken in the reef and betray them. That is what I can speculate for the house of wolves dlc.
captains remind me of general grievous, always angry, four arms, tough to kill, cowards(ish) the voice actor who decided to take the job even makes his voice sound a little like them sometimes
I really dig the dark souls style of story telling. What baffles me is why it wasn't included in the game...? I might as well go read a strategy guide for the story to this game. Why it wasn't included as some sort of codex type thing, or just IN the game in general, I have no idea. What a bummer.
The latter would be a little unfortunate for the future of gaming, with the likes of titanfall already. At least the community has been pretty loud about it.
If you look at the descriptions for some of the armour earned from the raid (the armour pieces flavour text) in the House of Wolves, they provide some interesting lore :)
Thank you very much, I'm going to keep working on this series, I believe I'll do at least one video a week. Let me know if you have suggestions or if you want to see anything specific, and criticisms work too.
Wally Sure, I can make a suggestion, I´m quite interested in ghosts and the guardians. What exactly are ghosts? Didn´t really feel like we got an explanation on that in the story, idk if there is lore on them somewhere else in the game. Could you maybe check it out?
Ill do some research on it, from my initial understanding they are part of the traveler, or creations of the traveler that are tasked with helping restore humanity and it's sub species to the golden age prior to the dark ages. That's pretty vague I know, so when I get more info I'll get back to you, and I may even make this question the next video.
dbzboy229 So the last video of Lore delves into the Guardian and Ghost relationship, but essentially they are tools of the traveler designed to help find and resurrect dead exos, humans, awoken and imbue them with the light to help fend of the darkness. They also act as librarians, mechanics, and standard knowledge machines, potentially holding more information than any memory banks we have in existence today.
Wally Ah nice! I haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but I'll be sure to watch it as soon as I get home to my computer. Can't wait ;) I told a couple of friends about your channel; I think you make really great content and I'm sure they will think the same. Keep it up!
There is actually a fifth house. That being the House of Wolves, owned by the queen(you know, the one with the dickish brother). The house of wolves,as I only know of,was an old house.Their kell was killed by your awoken majesty and which she is now. This explains the 2 vandal guards standing on the side of her during the first(or every) awoken palace scene
Just wanted to say I enjoyed the video and hope that the cabal vid comes out soon. (no rush) also I believe there is another house of fallen you forgot to mention, the house of wolves.
I am into the lore . Thank you for the vid. This is total speculation but it seems that the fallen are a primitive warlike society who were either uplifted or were once more civilized and were layer low by something
That could be true, they do still fight with melee weapons, which is more barbaric than advanced, so your speculation could be more valuable than you think, hopefully with more investigation I'll be able to give you an answer.
In a way gardians are like the fallen. Following orders from living technology ball shaped beings. Not to include that gardians and fallen both have a sense of pride to complete the mission.
Love the video but.....In the Fallen ranking system there also barons. They seem to be a little higher than the regular fallen captain perhaps between captain and or Archon and Kell. My theory is the rank between captain and or Archon and Kell is: Baron, there are only three known Barons each one belonging to the three main houses: Naksis house of Devils Baron found on the devils lair strike, Frigoris Exile Baron found on the shrine of Oryx, Greyliks Winter Baron found on the Archive mission. The second rank I think is between captain and or Archon and Kell is: Ultra captain there is only one Ultra captain and I'am still not sure if it is a place holder for a Kell or Archon in the future DLC as the Ultra captain is in Kings watch. He or she shares the same height ,movement speed, and attacks as the Kell and Archon. The Archons simply "conveys the Kell's wishes to the prime servitor, and exerts some measure of control."(Servitor Grimoire card) while Kells seem to be the over all leaders of the house with the Archon and Prime servitors holding some power. The Ultra captain in Kings watch could be a way to make up for the seemingly lack of leadership inside the house. Especially with the death of the house of Kings Archon Priest Aksor and the unknown where about of Kaliks Prime servitor of the house of Kings. and yes Aksor is from house of kings he wears their colors and the house of Winter's desperate attempt at regaining leadership they stole Askor from the prison of elders hung up house of kings banners(in the strike on the side of the map) in hopes he would lead them, but then guardians showed up and crashed the party. Another theory I believe in is that the traveler at one time was helping the fallen. The travaler could have given the Fallen servitors as their models are the same as the center of are ghosts are (look it up).The servitors "may play a key role in Fallen space flight"(Servitor Grimoire card) The travaler also helped us with this technology. The fallen could have also built the servitors as they serve as Ether refineries, weapons, and technological uses such as hacking or storing info.Together with a prime servitor the servitors form a link when the prime is killed this link is weakened. The house of Winter has no known leaders left as their Kell is dead their prime servitor is rumored dead and his disciple Simiks-3 was killed on the same mission you kill the Winter Baron Greyliks. sources-My own in game research,Grimiore cards,Orcz video game wiki -some names not mentioned Sepiks Prime House of devils Prime servitor Riksis House of devils Archon, Draksis Winter Kell, other small ranking Fallen.
blazingmist210 Well you have without a doubt done a lot of your research, I'll be honest, I really need to spend more time gather information on these topics.
Since the House of Wolves is loyal to the Queen, and that one Vandal was somewhat friendly to Cayde, I want a DLC where you get to fight along side a Fallen House
Could explain a few things, it really does make you wonder why the Fallen are so partial towards their servitors and prime units, they seem to be direct imitations of the Traveler.
a lot of the moon has Latin names, in real life and therefore in destiny too. Mare is actually pronounced "maray" and means "sea" so Mare Cognitum means the sea that has become known
Love the lore vids man god the lore of this game is insane if only they actually put some of it in well you know the actual game. On a side note I wish they would have that shock pistol as a Raid weapon for House of Wolves cause that backstory for that gun was friggin amazing man.
This is what I'm talking about this whole thing you read could of been in the game as a cutscene/back story same for all the other races, and aliens all I wanted in the game was a why but great video jus wish the time they took to write this they could of easily put this in the game to make me care about the world of destiny and my guardian.
And I agree with your fallen lore but maybe the fallen might have been a civilized race before the collapse hence their name fallen and I quote frome the game informer "a type of pirate race"
Would there be a possible remake to this video in order to include information gleamed from the house of wolves? I know I said something similar in the vex video so I apologize for that.
Fascinating, so the fallen have a chain of command built on "the strongest survive and thrive". My first impression on the servitors with the fallen were they appear to be "vex-like", so maybe the vex are controlling the fallen. But when i saw fallen fighting vex on Venus, that made no sense. the theory of the fallen worshiping the traveler would make more sense. Then the servitors wouldn't have to be vex, but more so creations to depict their deity. Another theory I've heard, the traveler is the actual evil, and we unknowingly protect the very thing that is seeking our downfall. The lore speaks of a " golden age", where humanity is prospering. But then the fall occurs where basically most of our civilization is wiped out. Then comes the traveler who saves one city on earth, just "one" city. And the fight for survival begins... What if the traveler is the evil who ended the conflict because it controlled the conflict? What if the traveler is the commanding mind of the vex, and the heart is only the "machine" who constructs the vex. How does this tie in with the fallen? Ever notice how the vex are fighting literally everyone besides the hive. That there "an evil so dark that they despise all other evil". So the traveler comes in while the fallen and the cabal are basically smashing humanity to extinction, halts the conflict, and then posing as a god to the fallen, and a control to the vex, cause everyone to fight amongst themselves while still keeping the humans from doing any rebuilding. The cabal can't conquer while the vex keep them at bay, the hive either don't need to be convinced to crush humanity or the fallen are giving them trouble, and the vex (being controlled by the traveler from the start) is keeping everyone in check. So if this theory is correct, then us trying to hold off the fallen, keep the cabal at bay, and crushing the hives deities to keep then silent is all a ploy to either keep us from ever expanding or removing all other evils from the equation so the traveler (aka vex god mind) doesn't have to. And knowing how strong we are, the traveler sits back, let's us do the dirty work while playing god, and once we kill all its enemies for it, it can wipe us out with ease. The perfect solution to "destroying all other evils". In that note, ever wonder why there are no vex on earth? Maybe because they don't need to be.
OK, so I read on farther, and my previous theory is a bit flawed. So its confirmed or at least assumed that the traveler is light, and therefore either not evil, or neutral. Perhaps the black garden in which the traveler appears to have resided at one point fled because of the vex, or maybe the vex were light at one point, but are no longer. Speculation all of it, I'll have to read on even more to come to a better conclusion.
Seriously? I'll be honest I would of thought that since they were machines they would be slow also considering the fact some of them do commit suicide, not to sound weird but never seen the breasts...might have something to do with the fact that I just shoot them as fast as I can or are the not really in the game.
I somehow allways thought that the fallen are just like us... thinking about their and our (in game) past, we had a golden age as well as them and we both fight for our ancient ages tech (their primes and our golden age tech) the story shows they have honor and don´t seek our death at start I guess I mean we attack every fallen the second we see one as well as the other way around
Maybe just maybe I think that the exo girl is from the future I'll let you decide but look at a sentence from her rifle description " it has part's that yet to exist"
We should get fallen allies because some of them could not want to fight humans but instead fight beside them. We really should get a house of fallen with us like how the awoken did they got the house of wolves. We need some faction that can help us that will help us one that understands us....
The shanks are just combat drones with simple combat AI or VI (a simple intelligence program but can't learn more then what it was programmed to know). In short terms is like a drone that today's military uses.
What if the "darkness" is what revives these fallen?(cuz headshots identify them to lose their "soul") What if they serve the darkness as respect of bringing them back from the dead? If so does that mean the Queen in the reef has found a way to revive fallen also? What if the 2 fallen u see in the cut scene are actually souls of awoken that have died and were put in the shell of a fallen body? think about it. it could be true
When you described the social structure of The Fallen, you got me thinking... Do the Fallen breed? Or do they have controlled breeding measures being taken? I mean, it appears they have nobility among them, but does that necessarily reflect a sense of heritage or just longevity? Their structure seems like it takes a lot of time to climb. They appear to be a race addicted to a point of necessity to Ether, so is this source limited by the servitors or do they only have so much to share? If so do they merely recycle Fallen in a revival cycle with the Ether while only truly breeding the high born? There's so many questions, and it all has a root of this growing theme of disposibility all throughout the Destiny mythology. Making me wonder if the questions about the Light and the Darkness is really just a reflection of the state of many races with manipulated life cycles coming into conflict.
Those are all great questions, sadly I currently don't have the answers to any of them, I'd need to spend a lot more time trying to figure out how best to make sense of the a lot the holes we are presented with.
Yeah a Exo-Fallen tag-team would be awesome
but fallen and cabal fought together in twilight gap
The battle of Twilight gap was between Fallen and the City, the Cabal were not there. (at least from everything I have read.)
In many ways we can relate the Fallen to the Sanghelli of Halo (Destiny's new elites??) I find it most interesting that they have similarities:
Were once a proud and powerful race, with many houses led by powerful Kell's, much like the elites with their states and Kaidons.
Both have some form of honor bounds, as evidence from the grimore card in Destiny, and a terminal from Halo 2 anniversary.
I agree, both are also incredibly interesting enemy types.
Oh and, subscribed.
The grimoire cards seem to provide a lot of information about the story in general, it is a bit spotty but it is awesome regardless.
You raise some really good points, I hope we get more information on the Fallen in the future so we can expand upon their story.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker I did forget about the Kell, who to me are Baron's that are above the rest, then the rest follows.
yeah i saw in a gromoire card that their society and technology show some kind of "lost nobleness" (that was a quick translation from spanish).
i believe they were once a strong and united empire, based on honor and some kind of monarchy.
maybe they also had their own collapse and are now just some heartless pirates.
i also heard that they found a way to restore a dead fallen's soul, like they say in the winter run strike "we have to get to the priest before they fully restore his soul"
These videos are astounding. I've spent the last hour and a half watching all of your lore series currently published, and you, sir, have some quality content. I subbed after the first video, and I doubt I'll ever regret it. Destiny has a story…you just have to go outside the game to find it.
I enjoy that someone is trying to help delve into the lore
This makes so much sense. Especially with all the relevant intel on the upcoming DLC 'House Of Wolves' with an Arena Strike and everything. Love your videos man! They keep me interested in the game!
Miss these vids wally. I always come back to watch there they are relaxing and remind me of the good old days.
I am right there with you, I hope they offer up books in the future, be great to get more information.
Another important fact is the goal of each fallen house
Before the collapse they all wanted to take back the traveler.
Now the houses have different objectives.
Devils - Destroy Humanity and build their house up in Old Russia. (Newer House)
Kings - Take over Traveler. It is important to note that the House of Kings deceives the other houses, mainly Devils, to due their bidding. They are more stealthy and tend not to attack directly. (Old House)
Winter - Focus of Vex Technology (Old House)
Exile - Form a colony on the moon (They are worried about survival, they are made up of rejects) (Newest House)
Wolves - Destroy Humanity and Take over Traveler. They are much more aggressive than the House of Kings and attack directly to achieve their goals. (Old House)
Judgement - Unite Fallen again (Old House)
There are more house but little to none is known. Houses of Stone (Still alive), Rain (Destroyed in Whirlwind), and Scar (Destroyed by Winter, It is believed that Taniks, the SCARed is one of the surviving members though)
It is important to note that the only the house of winter and what was left of the house of scar joined the house of Wolves.
The "Darkness" which attacked the Fallen was Oryx and the Hive in their conquest
Thank you sir, and I am completely okay with criticism, I welcome new topics and potential changes, Kabr and another more speculative version of VoG are on the list of things I want to talk about though.
dang wally... so much info... feel like you LOVE this game! Some pretty good shit here!
Ya, barely scratched the surface on this, and after watching a lot of lore series here I wanted to do my own.
That story was so touching! It makes me want to hug every Fallen I see instead of killing them!
That story about the vandal and the guardian is one of the reasons the fallen are my favorite enemy in destiny
Nice video!
Just one thing i would like to add. There are Five (5) fallen houses in the game
House of devils- operates on old russia, inmediate threat to the city
House of kings- also operates on old russia, not much is know about them
House of exile- Present on the moon, seems to be a rather new house
House of winter- Present on venus
House of wolves- the queen of the reef seems to have gained control of this house, so i assume its present on the reef.
Dude I am so Fracken glad I found ur channel, can't wait to look around even more.
I was hoping for a love story.
I love your Destiny lore videos, and I hope you continue to develop them. You approach them very thoughtfully and you deftly cross compare the lore to infer more.
Well I appreciate that greatly.
Wally - Lore Seeker Are you going to remake any of your older videos? It seems like your standards have become more developed since and I started wondering if you would.
I might revisit the older ones in the near future, that is a great idea.
So glad someone is doing this, thanks man. now i can get my dose destiny by listening to your channel!
As you spoke a thought kept coming to me, good and evil is only a matter of perspective, so maybe what we consider to be light(traveler) threatens what the consider
I don't disagreement, a lot of what can be said is pragmatic.
Great video hope you keep em coming!
Every saturday/sunday new lore videos come out! I might step up my game on quantity too, just don't want to lose quality! Thank you for enjoying.
Loving your lore vids man
Well thank you! One each week, and potentially extras during the week.
I often revisit this lore video! This is my favorite :D I love the way Wallen reads the grimoire card :)
Awesome videos just getting into your videos. Can't wait to watch others
Thank you, still working on new ones every week.
Awesome video man! I can't wait to see this channel grow with more and more interesting lore! Subscribed!
More Facts: The Fallen can re-grow their arms and the Servitors are relics, thats pretty badass
Pretty damn interesting, I wish there was more information about the house of kings. But there is a lot of information on the Fallen out there.
well is it not also interesting that they are on the moon where the hive live. Seemingly attempting to take the moon from the hive when it has no practical purpose to do so.
That is true, when they show up in the series of missions, it begs the question, why where they there.
Instead of Grimoire, they should have, I don't know, MAYBE PUT IT IN THE GAME. Then we'd be actually interested in things instead of just half-assed grinding.
Beating a dead horse bud,btw who hasn't said this?
I like to think of the fallen society as if it were medieval europe. you have each house as a country: spain, france, england, etc. each has a kell, or king, and they all swear allegiance to the pope, or Prime. the archon priests, or bishops/archbishops/etc arent required to pick a house to live in, as they are separate system from the kells while still maintaining a higher status then a kell
That is actually awesome, it could be where they got their inspiration to make the Fallen.
I read the fallen are pirates.
Ya, or rebels. something on those lines.
I believe that the house of wolves is the house that broke from the empire to join the awoken. Eventually some of them would begin to disagree with the awoken in the reef and betray them. That is what I can speculate for the house of wolves dlc.
Well, the house of wolves split into the House of Exiles after the queen of the reef took over. So you are right.
captains remind me of general grievous, always angry, four arms, tough to kill, cowards(ish)
the voice actor who decided to take the job even makes his voice sound a little like them sometimes
I wonder what language they are speaking. I see the resemblance though.
I really dig the dark souls style of story telling. What baffles me is why it wasn't included in the game...?
I might as well go read a strategy guide for the story to this game. Why it wasn't included as some sort of codex type thing, or just IN the game in general, I have no idea.
What a bummer.
I agree, they may have ran out of time, or just didn't believe that putting a story in the game is what everyone wanted.
The latter would be a little unfortunate for the future of gaming, with the likes of titanfall already.
At least the community has been pretty loud about it.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker or maybe they wanted to let players make up their own theories...
If you look at the descriptions for some of the armour earned from the raid (the armour pieces flavour text) in the House of Wolves, they provide some interesting lore :)
I will take a look at that, it is a great idea.
What about the fallen walkers are they just tanks or just machines that are used as weapons like tanks where they have fallen piloting them?
Very nice video, informative and nicely done.
Subbed ;)
Can't wait ;)
I told a couple of friends about your channel; I think you make really great content and I'm sure they will think the same.
Love the video hope for more.
Subbed
Just wanted to say I enjoyed the video and hope that the cabal vid comes out soon. (no rush) also I believe there is another house of fallen you forgot to mention, the house of wolves.
I did leave that house out, my bad - still working on the Cabal Video, should be out today!
The house of Winter has no known leaders left as their Kell is dead their prime servitor is rumored dead and his disciple Simiks-3 was killed on the same mission you kill the Winter Baron Greyliks.
sources-My own in game research,Grimiore cards,Orcz video game wiki
-some names not mentioned Sepiks Prime House of devils Prime servitor Riksis House of devils Archon, Draksis Winter Kell, other small ranking Fallen.
blazingmist210 Well you have without a doubt done a lot of your research, I'll be honest, I really need to spend more time gather information on these topics.
Since the House of Wolves is loyal to the Queen, and that one Vandal was somewhat friendly to Cayde, I want a DLC where you get to fight along side a Fallen House
Perhaps the Fallen are the previous home of the Traveler and due to an encounter with the Darkness, it left them and they turned to the Darkness.
Could explain a few things, it really does make you wonder why the Fallen are so partial towards their servitors and prime units, they seem to be direct imitations of the Traveler.
and you have received a subscribed for me, I look forward to more Destiny lore videos.
Nice videos :3 very enjoyable
Hell ya! Thank you!
There are actually 5 houses but there are 4 in the game now if you include the fifth one the black house from dlc2 then yeah
I love this but I wish it was easier to listen to, I kinda got bored and didn't finish it.
I'll try again another day! Keep it up!
a lot of the moon has Latin names, in real life and therefore in destiny too. Mare is actually pronounced "maray" and means "sea" so Mare Cognitum means the sea that has become known
I had a small question as to what origin/rank the shanks are? I believe you forgot to include them in the vid.
I left them, the shanks are more akin to flying tablets, they act as drones in comparison to our modern day militaries.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker Any chance we'll see House of Wolves info in an updated version of this video?
the story was beautiful.
Thanks for this mate
There is a fifth one coming in hose of wolves which is house of judgement
+Pavelo i know this comment was before HoW but that was the house of wolves (that you fight)
in the ghost fragment could that lady be Erris?
Mr Wallen,
On venus there is a valcano. Do you know what comes out if it? It's not lava because it's blue. Thoughts?
the way the fallen are expended makes them sound like the covenant almost
They do feel sort of like it, you can tell Bungie did pull inspirations from Halo.
Love the lore vids man god the lore of this game is insane if only they actually put some of it in well you know the actual game. On a side note I wish they would have that shock pistol as a Raid weapon for House of Wolves cause that backstory for that gun was friggin amazing man.
ik man I am so psyched to get it!!!!
I think theres alot more story to come wich means more secrets
I live this dude!!:D
Thank you man! Enjoy!
The story you told of the guardian and the captain...Is that not Cayde-6?
The fallen were once protectors of light but was taken from that light for some reason, he se the name fallen. It's on a newer grimore card
how did you get those ghost shells? Been playing since launch and still have the same boring ghost.
What about the Fallen Shanks?
could it be that the servitors are moddled in the image of the traveller
I like your voice. It just has a ring to it that's addicting.
Pewbuscuss Well thank you, not a big fan of my voice.
I think the best enemies are the Hive. I think they are the most badass and have the best design IMO
I agree, they have some of the toughest fights as well.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker Phogoth is ridiculous
How did you get all those legendary ghost shells?
This is what I'm talking about this whole thing you read could of been in the game as a cutscene/back story same for all the other races, and aliens all I wanted in the game was a why but great video jus wish the time they took to write this they could of easily put this in the game to make me care about the world of destiny and my guardian.
Also Maybe it's okay if you disagree but she could be from a future where you fail to destroy the black heart and went back to guide you
Like a multiple timeline kind of thing? That could be very true.
And I agree with your fallen lore but maybe the fallen might have been a civilized race before the collapse
hence their name fallen and I quote frome the game informer "a type of pirate race"
I mean it sort of plays into their name. Could not be true though. Who knows.
Yeah I understand it was just a theory
I have two questions: one, how did the guardian tell the gender of the fallen and two, where do shanks go in ranks?
The Grim Reaper Males gave very sharp fangs, Females have a normal-ish human mouth, females have breast as well
The Grim Reaper Shanks get upgraded with how many years of service they have
Seriously? I'll be honest I would of thought that since they were machines they would be slow also considering the fact some of them do commit suicide, not to sound weird but never seen the breasts...might have something to do with the fact that I just shoot them as fast as I can or are the not really in the game.
I somehow allways thought that the fallen are just like us... thinking about their and our (in game) past, we had a golden age as well as them and we both fight for our ancient ages tech (their primes and our golden age tech) the story shows they have honor and don´t seek our death at start I guess I mean we attack every fallen the second we see one as well as the other way around
how do you have different ghosts
Do you mean Ghost Shells? I only have the standard and the frontier shell.
yer how do youget them tho? also cool vid
The frontier shell, the one I have is from buying the ghost edition of the game.
ahh i get it know thanks
The fallen are like the Covenant from Halo
Also, Wallen, congrats on 10,000+ subs dude! I would also like to play with you sometime and find out the lore in Destiny. Have a good day! :3
Maybe just maybe I think that the exo girl is from the future I'll let you decide but look at a sentence from her rifle description " it has part's that yet to exist"
I'd have to agree, it would make sense with the description of her weapon.
We should get fallen allies because some of them could not want to fight humans but instead fight beside them. We really should get a house of fallen with us like how the awoken did they got the house of wolves. We need some faction that can help us that will help us one that understands us....
The original lore master I miss him
The servitors create ether which the fallen eat
the person he was describing in the beginning was indeed Eris Morn . right ?
what are the shanks?
Mobile gun turrets, think of drones some militaries use, except in your face instead of miles above you.
i meant where are the shanks in the hiearchy
I don't think they are, they are just machines, I don't think they have any type of actual intelligence.
The shanks are just combat drones with simple combat AI or VI (a simple intelligence program but can't learn more then what it was programmed to know). In short terms is like a drone that today's military uses.
there are actually 5 houses you missed the house of wolves. They can be seen standing next to the queen of the reef.
Didn't so much miss them, as so much didn't include them as we don't see combat against them. Thank you though.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker good point
Forgot shanks?
More please
Here is the second video - Destiny Lore: The Traveler and The Darkness - Working on more each week!
What about shanks!?
+patrick west I think they are just drones made by the fallen so they have larger numbers.
+legion of the dammed marine Also the rank is most likely lower or at the rank of dreg.
Great series keep it up.. really helps alot.. game seems to have such good lore but ZERO is explained in game sadly..
I understand your feelings, half the reason I started doing this lore series was to help myself learn and to potentially help others, so thank you!
wow dude great video :)
Make a video about 2 give 1 fallen lore
what if the fallen houses fighting against each other is like the guardians fighting in the crucible?
Name of the auto rifle
Gallahad-E, I believe.
Wally That's the exact gun i have which is the Shingen-E. Funny
There you go man, there you go.
She really didn't have time to shoot me!
Please do the nine
I gotta admit, the most disappointing way Bungie could fail me is to not flesh out the lore with encyclopedic quality thoroughness. xD
I am right there with you, I hope they overhaul their system at one point to offer knowledge on the scale of a Mass Effect codex.
