i think that the goo that shoots out when you get a precision kill is the actual vex and the robots are just suits that they wear and all the goo came from one place and that is why they have one mind
THIS IS WHY DESTINY HAS THE BEST STORY OF 2014 AND WHY BUNGIE CHOSE TO MAKE AN AMBIGUOUS PLOT AS OPPOSED TO A STRAIT FORWARD STORY LIKE MASS-EFFECT OR CALL OF DUTY I think they structured the destiny story like this in order to appease the masses...there is a huge group of gamers who play games just for the multiplayer and the story is irrelevant (Call of Duty) for example.... Anothe theory is that the developers integrated the story into grimore cards in order to explain the universe further because it is virtually impossible to fit all of that content into one campaign...it would be filled with cutscene after cutscene in an attempt to explain a grand story...at that point most gamers would rather just skip it and play the game...the developers taking the route they did saved them a lot of time, Also you can't skip cutscenes in this game so imagine having to view EVERY SINGLE CUTSCENE EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO COMPLETE A STRIKE...complete waste of time on the developer and user.... Now my last point as to why Destiny's story is structured the way it is, is because the developers wanted us to go out and seek the information, they gave us an ambiguous plot so we could come up with theories of our own and talk about it with the destiny community, this adds a whole new level to the gaming experience, I'm sure Wally can attest to the satisfaction he receives from finding new information on this grand world and compiling theories and regurgitating those theories to us and the forums...You can compare this games story to Metal Gear Solid series, yes that story is very confusing and the average player would blow right past it but (Kojima MGS's creator is considered a genius in storytelling) he has been building this ambiguous plot for years and he has a loyal fan base, destiny is also in my opinion taking this route... IN CLOSING, The story is there if you so choose, but if you would rather jus play Destiny for its superb gameplay experience then that is up to you, this doesn't change the fact that bungee offers a new level of gaming with the integration of the grimore cards, potentially making us question the destiny universe and coming up with theories from the information given...I know I appear to be rambling on but I support whole heartedly the story structure that Bungie chose to go with....Thank you Wally (Lore Guide on TH-cam:Sir Wallen) for making this info even easier for average users like me to gain an understanding of the Destiny universe ..you are doing a great service to the Destiny Community
DeAngelo Robinson You know, I agree with you for the most part about Destiny's story, but I must disagree with you somewhat when in comes to the storytelling. Obviously, a huge part of a story is in it's telling. It's the duty of a storyteller to give his story in a way that people will listen. It is simply the nature of communication--some people have something interesting/useful/informative to say; most don't. And since we don't have time to listen to everybody, we must therefore select who we listen to. And the way we select is by _how_ they say what they have to say. This makes sense, since how someone communicates is usually (not always, but usually) a reflection on the quality of their message. In storytelling, some ambiguity is useful for building curiosity; too much breeds disinterest. Destiny's storytelling is disingenuous to the point of being nonsensical. It's not brilliant. It's lazy. When the listener has to do _too much work_ to figure out what the storyteller is saying, he's going to start doing a cost-benefit analysis. "Is this storyteller worth listening to? Does he really have something to say that's worth the effort I'm putting in to hearing it?" In Destiny's case, we really don't know yet, because not enough has been said! What has been said has certainly piqued my interest, at least, but it hasn't given me enough for what I've put into it. There are simply too many unanswered questions, and too many situations where the only question is "What in the actual heck is going on???" Destiny's story isn't merely confusing--it's mostly _just not there_. "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain," indeed. Then why does Bungie think the gamer has time to listen to them? P.S. As for game mechanics like skip-able cutscenes, the omission of these sort of things merely confirms the "too lazy to bother" hypothesis. If gamers want to skip cutscenes, fine! Leave that option to the players, but if you want us to appreciate a story you want to tell (i.e., pay for your game and games in the future), you have to bring it to us, not make us chase it to a website we can't even get to in the game to find mainly scraps that often merely ask the questions we were asking ourselves! Literally! Some of these grimoire cards are nothing but some character making the same wild speculations that we are, with no indication as to which one might be correct. Case in point--the card about The Darkness...
Dude really... Thanks! I've been reading my eyelids dry trying to absorb the world before I receive the ps4 I ordered with this. (Destiny Bundle). I enjoy them immensely as I can just put the Lore on and chill back. Lots of awesome info thanks again!
I finally found the right channel :) A channel that provides the info about the game that the developer was to lazy to produce. Thank you, thanks for reading these Grimoire cards.
Anyone else find this a coincidence where we FIRST found the Traveller on mars and IN THE END had to destroy the black garden on mars? I think the two do relate to each other.
Even though this stuff needs to be accessible in-game, I also think that some of the stuff on those cards needs to be voiceacted and put in the briefing or de-brief of missions. That way you flesh out the story more and make it seem less like a 1 day journey that only concerns you and Dinklebot Again great video! Thanks for doing this.
This game is rich with lore but the disappointing part is that you cant view this stuff in the actual game. I mean was it so hard to make a terminal where you can view your grimoire cards?
I don't disagree, I know the Destiny Subreddit they said story was something they were going to work on. Hopefully we see new things or a better presentation come DLC.
Such an in depth look at the Vex, thanks so much for doing this video. I only wish we got this from cutscenes in the game. It would have been cool to see Ikora giving her report to Zavala in person or flashbacks of the Ishtar Collective freaking out about the possibility of being a simulation lol. Nice work!
I love how well Wally explains these things in the videos. I love the game and I feel I can now fully immerse myself so to speak with it after watching these videos. They are very informative and beautifully explained ^.^
That would make two of us then, This is the first series I've done that feels incredibly rewarding when I finish each video, makes me want to do a better job each time.
Great video, keep it up. This is much more interesting than reading the grimoire. The gameplay is great, but I find myself distracted by it sometimes and focusing on your raid techniques. Its helpful when you bring up the large pictures of topic points to keep me focused. What does everyone else like, large pictures or small ones so you can see the gameplay?
I try to keep a helpful balance between the two, in honesty, I'd rather the words be the main focal point of the video rather than the video, but I can work on doing a mix of both more often.
Atheon. The Vex lord who refused to worship a god. Atheon=Atheos, Greek for non-believer or Athiest. Congratulations guardians, we didn't kill an evil vex, we killed the only good one. It's not a vault, it's a prison. Templar=Warden Praetorians=guards Relics=keys
A clan mate of mine looked into it, and from what i heard, Atheon is attempting to write the Guardians out of time. This would explain everything that goes on in the vault. The confluxes are devices to go about this, and require vex sacrifices, and the the Templar's ability, the ritual of negation further reinforces this idea. The oracles envision the guardians as nonexistent, and the templar makes it so, essentially Negating your existence. The gorgons, as mentioned in the vault video, have the power to remove you from time as well, however, Kabr, the legendary titan, ripped a part out of a gorgon, the relic, which has the power to rewrite time, to deny events. In the Atheon fight, Atheon isn't teleporting you. He's trying to hide the relic within time, but the relic doesn't want to be Hidden. So it teleports guardians to it, in order to try and foil Atheon's plans. Furthermore, when teleported and all oracles are dead, in the feed, it says Guardians make their own fate, and upon death, it says You are forever lost to the dark corners of time.
I'm not gonna lie. The Vex? They scare me. No I'm serious, they scare me. I love those robots, but god, do they get under my skin. I don't know why, but when I see the Vex, their powers and things they can do, and the locations they reside in, it gives me a surreal feel that reminds me of horrifying memories from the Evangelion anime, and the fact that they supposedly evolved from algae into Time-Traveling and Reality-Warping robots adds for the surrealness (they wouldn't be that out of place in Evangelion, you know. You could even write an Evangelion AU fanfic with the Vex as the main villains) I even chose a music from the Evangelion Soundtrack as the Vex's main theme: th-cam.com/video/yMPRMKUQLM0/w-d-xo.html And try reading the Grimoire Card of the Black Garden while listening this song: www.destinygamewiki.com/wiki/Legend:_Black_Garden_(Grimoire_Card) Be honest guys, am I overreacting?
Great job on the lore Wallen , big fan keep up the great work. Playing destiny now that I know some the lore behind it is so much more enjoyable. Thanks Man!
These videos are very interesting and enjoyable. And I was just about to ask you to make one about cabal, since pretty much noone exactly knows, what the Cabal are doing and why, so it's good to hear that you will talk about Cabal next time.
Listening to these lore entries, I imagine students in one of the City's schools, listening to a lecture from their professor about the Darkness (perhaps as part of a Science, History or Philosophy course).
These are some great videos you're making and I'm really enjoying the content! Though I do wish destiny had more concrete story behind the action, I do find that this rich lore provides some really interesting mystery that is more interesting and requires more thought and imagination than the simple (and usually linear) story line that we see in most games these days (especially in Triple-A titles) where there isn't much use for theories and myths. Maybe this is the other extreme, giving almost no story and flooding us with myth and lore, but It's kind of a nice break from the norm. It may also be the only way to keep the community interested enough to eagerly await new content in the long run.
In one of the grimoire cards it explains that the vex were simple farmers before the traveler came I can't remember the precise phrase but what I remember it saying is something like "and they were gardeners covered in bronze" something like that.
My guess: (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT?) ...the Traveler is the Vex. It's their "mind", the central CPU so to speak. It is the thing controlling them all. We'll see. But if - as I speculate - the Traveler is having Guardians collect Light and power for it by battling in order to awaken and become the Darkness proper, it would make sense that it would spawn Vex ad nauseum to make that easier. (Look at the base of the Traveler - it's the base, facing Earth, that is damaged. Earthlings, evidently, attacked the Traveler at some point.)
Could be, but I still don't buy into the traveller being the bad guy theory a lot of people have put forward. It is a cool twist, but it doesn't feel like it is real.
Just a theory. ("A Game Theory") The Traveler was going to be the bad guy, at one point, as the Forbes article pointed out. But they did change a lot after the lead writer left, so anything is possible in that regard.
So I'm a huge Greek history guy. My thoughts on this are: The vex are kind of like the Greeks, as the cabal are like the romans. The black garden is like a dying power that the vex are intrigued by. In Greek mythology the satyrs are intrigued by the power of the Great god pan. What if, as he mentioned in the video the power in the black garden is a dying god, that god could be pan, as his power weakens, so does the garden ( aka the earth.) And the vex are trying to save it. Again this is just thought.
Liking your videos. I played a lot of the souls series so I would watch EnB and Vaait. Your stuff seems to be on par with theirs. You deserve many more subs and I hope you get em. But you got atleast one more. =)
There is only one card on them, maybe two or three if you count the cards from the Warlock I think. I'll do some research and see if I could do a smaller video on them.
You should do videos on the factions in the tower.(future war cult, dead orbit, new monarchy)I really don't understand what they are about, and I want to know.
Hello Sir Wallen! Good video, this really helped me understand my favourite race in Destiny better. Just wanted to say that you got something wrong when you mentioned the Sol Progeny, the second mind is actually a Descendant and the last one is a Precursor. Check the VoG or Grimoire cards for proof.
I remember last year Bungie showed concept art of Cabal and Vex teaming up to "fight something". Considering the original story, I believe Guardians are being used by the Darkness.
Great video. I have already read the Grimoire cards, so most of the content was already familiar, but it's neat to hear your opinion on things. It's too bad the video doesn't relate much to the content, but then again I know from first-hand experience that the time needed to create a comprehensive lore video with appropriate visuals is 10x more than just showing gameplay. ;)
It is incredibly difficult to get the exact footage with the exact visual match up. I am attempting to push more information so that they both match, but I find myself already behind schedule.
Wally Hey like I said, I totally understand. I've produced multiple documentaries, and even ran a series on Machinima for a while. It takes a lot of work! Keep it up!
Wally the lore is really good consider that the vex are using time gates right and thats how you have the precursor, normal, and descendant vex. Now how about this, according to the butterfly effect if one little thing is changed in the past then the entire future will be whack and different then how you left it assuming you come back, Its changed, now since the vex time travel quite frequently and nothing is really changed in the universe how is this? My theory is that the vex time gates connect not to the future or past of the current flow of time but to differentiated points of time in several different timelines. The gates somehow connect to different timelines using who what power that the vex have managed to conceive in the Vault and The Garden. Since those are the only realms that they control fully those are the only realms they can achieve time travel between the timelines. And thats how they commune without messing everything up. As for the Vex Network that connects them all to one mind, the game states that, I believe it is somewhat of a Quantum Turing Machine or Universal quantum computer that binds all the vex together and makes them work as they do. Now how that would apply to the Vex is sort of like the system of their hierarchy. The planets the vex consume and make into machines would be the larger Quantum circuits of the network. The Vex minds on those planets would be the Quantum Gates for the network, and the quibits for the network would be the minions like the goblin, hobgoblin, minotaur, and so on. Now, this is just how a quantum network can work across just the Sol system, Im sure there is probably way more to it since they are technically embedded in every celestial body waiting t one activated by this super network. Concluding this the only weakness the vex sort of have in this system is this, if they do run off a quantum network then everything in the quantum network can be reversed to nothing according to reversal computing in relation to quantum computing. So reversal computing would mainly be a lot of mathematics to reverse the equations and mathematics that the quantum computer is doing. One more thing, an actual quantum computer uses photons to compute everything so another possibility is just that the quantum computer just has these specific photons in every vex mind core unit in existence. Something to think about.
The Robo Mustache Corp. And keep making videos! Your awesome, and you really have a fundamental understanding of what your talking about, which makes you sound good while talk lore, and to the fans, that is gold.
consider this weird if you want but I cant help but think of this guy as being some kind of Warlock Scholar making informational videos of useful knowledge for curious guardians...
1. The Warmind Project is humanity's greatest golden age weapon, if he wanted to, Rasputin could weaponize the entire Sol system. Making him a very scary enemy to have. 2. After the collapse when guardians are found by their ghosts and awoken, they forget everything about their past which means that unless someone who understood the Warmind Project survived the collapse, we know nothing about it
Somewhere near 8:00; reading the Ghost Fragment he says "remake themselves in that image..." "How can machines have a God?" Well, I have a theory. To the question; they are not machines...and to the image subject? Maybe they were this different race, an organic race, who had remade themselves into these robotic creatures? Think about that...
Did you know that the warlocks were the first to be able to blink, but the hunters learned it as well. It was in the description for warlock boots: "We learned the blink ability from the warlocks. Just don't admit it" *Handguide for Hunters* Warlock master race. Kappa.
I have a question for you Is there away to stop all vex indefinitely remember there machines and you can disable a machine with a strong enough virus like a computer
I swear Bungie had something good here. Almost the whole Destiny game was focused on the Vex. They really are one of the most interesting enemies in a game I've ever played. Too bad the game ended when it was just getting started. Black Garden was a solid level. Hoping Destiny 2 is good.
I love lore series. But there is something that most Lore series seem to leave out: Biology. I want to know what that glowing blue stuff is coming out of the Vex, I want to know why the Eliskni blood is a purple-ish red, etc.
Quick theory here: the Vex think like humans, and their subclasses are derived from greek mythology. They also seem to have some control over time and space. So, could the Vex actually be products of some dark secret of the golden age? A group of people (the Ishtar Collective, perhaps), using golden age technology and knowledge from the traveler could have tried to bend the universe to their will using Vex technology. These people used the "infamous" subroutine that created the Exo and wound up creating or becoming bio-organic beings today known as Vex. Does any of this make any sense?
Since I play as a titan I have most of the vog armor and the mythoclast. The titan armor fashioned by Kabr has lore in it as always. Mythoclast means destroyer of myths. On the boots it says he was claimed by the vault now only him and his myth remain. This makes me believe that the vex may have made the mythoclast to destroy Kabr. Also one of the small reasons is that it has solar damage, the vex being the only enemy with no one having solar shields. And I put the armor and the mythoclast next to each other and compared them, the mythoclast having a sleek design while the armor being bulky and has spikes. This may not be as important but I believe that an artist like da Vinci his paintings will be alike, so I believe the vex created the mythoclast to destroy Kabr I haven't read the grimoire card yet so if there's something in there I haven't found it.
Perhaps the vex found or created the traveler, the darkness that always followed is the vex. They introduce it to a species analyze their behavior deciding which species is worthy of it. Guardians on the subjects of repeated scenario testing, because Vex can time travel the Traveler could be in multiple places testing multiple species, the Hive have "seen hundreds of worlds taken by the vex" (courtesy of dinklebot). The hive could be surviving remains of a species previously examined by the vex. They discovered the truth about the Traveler which is why they were trying to drain the Travelers light. Having a hive mind and the ability to time travel they are essentially immortal, all of their knowledge comes from running simulations and analyzing outcomes to determine the most desirable. They can be all knowing, but only through simulation (trail and error) the more rationale an opposing species has the longer the vex have to run simulations. Despite traveling through time, the present will appear the same to non vex. Just my two sense
The EXOs retain a slight resemblance to the Vex, but they were made in our image. Which could mean the way in which they were created was the same but in a different image and for different purpose.
Adam Droneburg It could be completely possible, the Vex do have resemblances to the Exo and Battleframes, it will be interesting to see how their story develops, but great concepts here.
This is what Destiny was really designed for: Imagination. We use our imaginations to come up with our own stories for how everything in this game is and why it is in the first place. Who are the Vex, why are the Fallen so vengefull against humanity, its so much fun to come up with our own theories and our own stories. Thats what Destiny is all about.
I love destiny and the story behind it. Youre helping out alot. Subbed. Also what is that area at like 11:40 ish with the light pillar. I dont remember seeing that.
Great series, great video, great deconstruction. This is just theory, but I think the Black Garden is inside of the Traveler since it's 'locked out of space and time' The Traveler houses the darkness (doesn't that swirling mass of black most closely resemble darkness)? The Vex stumbled upon this darkness and trying to understand it made it a god and a religion. The Traveler goes from system to system, planet to planet and consumes and transforms organic matter into inorganic matter. The Vex were quoted to be a mix of both. The Traveler seeds the planet to be taken over by 'gifting' it with golden ages and then summons the Vex to transform the organic into the inorganic... we see this with Mars and Venus. The only reason we do not see it on the Earth and Moon yet is probably due to the Hive interfering with its grand plans. The Hive had a piece of the Traveler and were sapping its strength so the Traveler couldn't proceed with its plans... Now that the Hive's plans were thwarted (thanks to Eris Morn who you think was corrupted by the darkness) the Traveler may now begin to invade the Earth and Moon with Vex.
If the Vex are part biological, is it possible that the creature that created or became the vex travelled in time witnessing the end of the universe. Surely then would the Vex's objective/endgame be to manipulate and infest the laws of the Universe to survive or prevent it? (I'm not hugely clued up on all the Destiny lore so this is a huge longshot.)
i used to think the story sucked but man there is actually alot to interpret and is actually entertaining. The grimoire cards really add alot but i wish all of these stuff was ingame information, maybe with even more cut scenes.
Atheon and the Precussors Were the first Vex that the evolved from then after they came into contact with "black heart" the two factions split... the precursors and the rest of the Vex.@Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker
hey could you please do a video about the guardians from the perspective of the cabal, or vex for example.... "the guardians display a skill in both agility and armor, they are extremely deadly due to their ability to revive using ghosts, we know little about this technology, but are trying to re-create it for our cabal soildoirs
If Vex are outside the laws of space and time, could they be pulling vex out of other timelines, just as other time lines are pulling vex from our time line? This would break some laws of physics, but it might explain why the vex are infinite?
you should do a series about this, and see what your fans would say Who would win Fallen vs Elites Cabal vs Brutes Hive vs Flood Guardians vs Spartans Atheon( in the VoG) vs The Didact
Wally you should do a series about this, and see what your fans would say Who would win Fallen vs Elites Cabal vs Brutes Hive vs Flood Guardians vs Spartans Atheon( in the VoG) vs The Didact
Wally (when i say this its not in a OMG put me on TH-cam so i can be famous way) if you play on XB 360 you can add me i can tell you anything you want to know about halo . (im a super nerd when it comes to halo ive read all the books)
Remember each vex share one mind so it's possible that the 3 minds in the black garden are their minds they send information from one vex to the other.
It could be true, what I got from the Black Garden was that the heart of darkness was creating those super vex, but didn't have to to finish them, hence the reason we only faced one at a time. Due to the Heart of Darkness either being weakened, or not able to control all 3 at once, is unknown.
We just need to wait until the free update that comes with the dark below, since it comes with 3 more story missions (even if you don't own dark below) and Bungie promised more explanations and a better understanding of the lore
Wally If the Vex are part biological, is it possible that the creature that created or became the vex travelled in time witnessing the end of the universe. Surely then would the Vex's objective/endgame be to manipulate and infest the laws of the Universe to survive or prevent it? (I'm not hugely clued up on all the Destiny lore so this is a huge longshot.)
Well its a really tricky concept, to become part of the universe as we know it would be ultimate god hood in the basic form. I'm not 100% why they are still biological.
What is the vex are actually trying to help us because they were berried on all the majour planets (supposedly) They could be something like the Warsats like Rasputin
My theory is that they were created by humans. That's why they act like us. If they found the ability to move units through time, it would explain why they predated us.
You know how the original lore of the game had the traveler as the heart of the darkness? What if, we guardians, are ignorantly battling the vex , unaware of the fact that their purpose for mechanizing our planets is to use the sun as a weapon powerful enough to destroy the traveler, thus destroying the darkness forever? I mean, think about the fallen. There are Grimoire cards suggesting that the themselves are the original inhabitants of Earth and rather we guardians, working under the light of the traveler, are ignorant to the fact that we actually aren't the good guys. That we are the invaders. The Hive are using the hell-mouth to revive the dormant Traveler to finish his demolition of Earth. The Human race is neigh extinct at this point. Whats the risk of 100,000 lives worth to the vex? That small toll, or the entire universe. Take your pick
I did not know that about the original storyline and it is interesting that you make note of it, I'll have to get some information to build a better case.
What if the vex were created by the traveler to protect against the hive, fallen and cabal. They then turned on the traveler and its light and began to worship the darkness.
well this is my theory its kinda off topic but about the cabal too i was thinking that maybe the vex were defeated by the cabal one time just like how the romans defeated the greeks and maybe also that the cabal has a god like think just like the heart of the black garden(because the romans adopted the greek religion) so maybe with that the new dlc of forge of gods hint GODS you might fight a cabal form of a vex god just my theory idk if it is even 100% correct and i was also thinking maybe atheon was one of the gods in the vex religion but banished or forgotten because atheon sounds like atheist and how atheon was trying to kill or destroy rest of the gods
At the last dlc or anything like that i think the darkness that haunts traveler awakens and because of that the traveler becomes its former self a warrior and tells you how it got defeated by the darkness and the only way to restore it is the darkness awakening and the only for the darkness to awake is for sacrifice and you become the warrior traveler and fight the warrior that haunts it and your super is you collect all the darkness and convert it into light and fire a blast and when you defeat the darkness warrior the next destiny is when the fallen, hive, cabal, maybe vex not sure sacrifice themselves and you have to stop them! I think it would be a better storyline IMO.
Wally - Lore Seeker Well it's nice to see that they did come up with a lore, but I feel the game would be more engaging story wise if a lot more of this was in it. Well it's nice that we have people like you talking about the lore here. It's more entertaining than just reading grimoire cards.
i think that the goo that shoots out when you get a precision kill is the actual vex and the robots are just suits that they wear and all the goo came from one place and that is why they have one mind
David Salganicoff sorry for the late comment but very good answer!
Turns out that you were 100% correct!
I think the Vex are one of the most interesting enemies/creatures ever created for a entertaiment product (movie, game etc)
Not more than forerunners
Not more than forerunners
Not more than forerunners
+Sebastian Ortiz Forerunners aren't that interesting. They're a pretty generic "precursor" race
Solaxe S No, The precursors are the precursor race...
Those were the ones that made the damn forerunners
And people say Destiny has no story.....This may possibly be the greatest video game universe of all time
I love it, the Universe is there and they will be expanding it for the future which is pretty damn awesome.
I don't disagree, Mass Effect gave the proper story and universe.
THIS IS WHY DESTINY HAS THE BEST STORY OF 2014 AND WHY BUNGIE CHOSE TO MAKE AN AMBIGUOUS PLOT AS OPPOSED TO A STRAIT FORWARD STORY LIKE MASS-EFFECT OR CALL OF DUTY

Story
If Wally was in Destiny. He would be a cryptarch
And I'd give out purples on the daily.
Wally - Lore Seeker And weekly or monthly exotics as well? :P
I'd give out free stuff all the time.
Screw that. Make him the Speaker!
blackknightkanos he is the light of the traveler!
Dude really... Thanks! I've been reading my eyelids dry trying to absorb the world before I receive the ps4 I ordered with this. (Destiny Bundle). I enjoy them immensely as I can just put the Lore on and chill back. Lots of awesome info thanks again!
No problem, I'm glad you enjoy these, I work on one a week, and I'll admit I'm late on this one for this week, should be out on Monday.
You've earned a dedicated subscriber. I absolutely adore lore.
I finally found the right channel :) A channel that provides the info about the game that the developer was to lazy to produce. Thank you, thanks for reading these Grimoire cards.
No problem, although anyone can do what I'm doing.
Yes but you're the only one doing it.
WhatChannelURL Well, I will continue to keep posting these and trying to get the best information out there.
Thanks
Biological machines,hmmm?..........BIONICLE IN DESTINY CONFIRMED!
The vex are techno organic not bio organic
Anyone else find this a coincidence where we FIRST found the Traveller on mars and IN THE END had to destroy the black garden on mars? I think the two do relate to each other.
Even though this stuff needs to be accessible in-game, I also think that some of the stuff on those cards needs to be voiceacted and put in the briefing or de-brief of missions. That way you flesh out the story more and make it seem less like a 1 day journey that only concerns you and Dinklebot
Again great video!
Nice work!
That would be awesome, but I have a feeling we will see better story as development continues.
I love how well Wally explains these things in the videos. I love the game and I feel I can now fully immerse myself so to speak with it after watching these videos. They are very informative and beautifully explained ^.^
Well thank you very much, hopefully I can continue on that trend, I do really enjoy making these videos.
Nice one man! Again! I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying these videos.
That would make two of us then, This is the first series I've done that feels incredibly rewarding when I finish each video, makes me want to do a better job each time.
Wally
Good to hear, if it isn't fun and rewarding, but is optional, why bother?
Very very true, still without criticizing your own work you wouldn't get super far, I will say that this series is awesomely fun.
Templar=Warden
Praetorians=guards
Relics=keys
I thought Atheon was the god of Famine? Still though that is pretty interesting if true.
Wally Aithon just means burning, bright, blazing. But it could be a deliberate mis-spelling. It's all speculation.
Wally The god is Aethon, Athoen. Again maybe it's a spelling thing, but pronounced competently different.
That is interesting, I didn't even look at it that way until now.
You could even write an Evangelion AU fanfic with the Vex as the main villains)
I even chose a music from the Evangelion Soundtrack as the Vex's main theme: th-cam.com/video/yMPRMKUQLM0/w-d-xo.html
And try reading the Grimoire Card of the Black Garden while listening this song: www.destinygamewiki.com/wiki/Legend:_Black_Garden_(Grimoire_Card)
Be honest guys, am I overreacting?
Gabriel Perrella not at all
Great job on the lore Wallen , big fan keep up the great work. Playing destiny now that I know some the lore behind it is so much more enjoyable. Thanks Man!
I seriously didn't know that this info could be so interesting!!! Thanks for the video wally
No problem, and thank you for enjoying!
These videos are very interesting and enjoyable. And I was just about to ask you to make one about cabal, since pretty much noone exactly knows, what the Cabal are doing and why, so it's good to hear that you will talk about Cabal next time.
Hopefully I'll be able to get more information on the Cabal, but with there Roman Legion esque feel, I am positive it will be very interesting.
Listening to these lore entries, I imagine students in one of the City's schools, listening to a lecture from their professor about the Darkness (perhaps as part of a Science, History or Philosophy course).
haha that is awesome, hopefully I can continue to deliver that vibe.
Wow. I never realized how deep Vex lore goes.
Love the stories, very well composed videos. I'm subscribed and look forward to watching all your work.
Taylor Gavello Hell ya! I try to get content out each week.
Taylor Gavello if only bungie would have done a better job with the stories of factions, beings et cetera.
In the base game of destiny 1 the main antagonista are the vex in the base game of destiny 2 the main antagonists are the cabal
Why don't these have more views? These videos have some great info.
I think they are doing for a small time guy like me, I'm just happy people are enjoying the content.
Thank you for making these awesome videos.
Thank you man! More to come each week!
History class with Wally! Nice video, keep it up man.
Awww yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
My guess: (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT?)
...the Traveler is the Vex.
("A Game Theory")
The Traveler was going to be the bad guy, at one point, as the Forbes article pointed out. But they did change a lot after the lead writer left, so anything is possible in that regard.
I guess we will have to wait and see, anything could happen.
I'm late to the party here, but this is excellent. Nice work Sir Wallen
Thank you, and I love Epic Name Bro and Vaait work, I keep up with a lot of the lore series that both of them do.
A video for the Ahamkara?
It'd be interesting to see the lore on these 'space dragons'.
There is only one card on them, maybe two or three if you count the cards from the Warlock I think. I'll do some research and see if I could do a smaller video on them.
Your videos are really great, nice work.
You should do videos on the factions in the tower.(future war cult, dead orbit, new monarchy)I really don't understand what they are about, and I want to know.
8:56-9:07 you got it backwards, Sol Imminent is a Descendant and Sol Primeval is a Precursor
+Joseph Cress I will see what I can do for future videos, they are interesting though.
My mistake.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker Ahh, no big deal m8. Everyone makes mistakes. :)
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker P.S. Subbed.
Welcome to the family then sir!
Keep it up!
Well thank you very much, I have feeling I will be spending more time on these videos though, the criticism is without a doubt very welcome.
It is something to really think about, I just had my mind blown away, awesome theory right here.
Wally - Lore Seeker Right! And thanks for reading and replying, I appreciate it.
The Robo Mustache Corp. And keep making videos! Your awesome, and you really have a fundamental understanding of what your talking about, which makes you sound good while talk lore, and to the fans, that is gold.
Well I greatly appreciate that, as long as individuals enjoy what we work on here I am happy.
consider this weird if you want but I cant help but think of this guy as being some kind of Warlock Scholar making informational videos of useful knowledge for curious guardians...
What makes the enemies fear 'Warminds' so much and why don't we understand anything of them even tho they are on our side?
thijs / Eveleyn 1: warminds are badasses 2: we kinda forgot everything before the fall
1. The Warmind Project is humanity's greatest golden age weapon, if he wanted to, Rasputin could weaponize the entire Sol system. Making him a very scary enemy to have. 2. After the collapse when guardians are found by their ghosts and awoken, they forget everything about their past which means that unless someone who understood the Warmind Project survived the collapse, we know nothing about it
thank for the lore!
No problem!
Thank you for these and subbed. I really did not want to dive into the grimore. This is a far more pallatable alternative.
I just wish they gave more information, there are too many plot holes and points I have to speculate about, just to get the connection.
Wow there is a lot more to this game than loot caves and exotics
Ya, very true, hopefully we see even more in the future.
Did you know that the warlocks were the first to be able to blink, but the hunters learned it as well. It was in the description for warlock boots: "We learned the blink ability from the warlocks. Just don't admit it" *Handguide for Hunters*
Warlock master race. Kappa.
you don't know what "kappa" means...
Solaxe S Actually I do know what it means, it seems you're the one who doesn't know what it means.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker I guess that explains why I made a Vex-inspired Exo, lol.
i know this video is very old and outdated, but i just want to say i think the vex are the coolest and most interesting species in destiny
It is on Venus behind the citadel area.
Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker thanks dude.
No problem!
11:13 where is that? i dont think ive seen that :0 wanna go up the vex space elevator
It is the terminus, it is on venus, behind a group of paterions, search for "Destiny The Terminus" on youtube and you will find it.
i love your vids you get a subscriber :3
Thank you very much! Stoked to see people enjoying this.
Wally im excited for a hive lore video they are interesting to say the least
Bungie needs to hire you they need someone to tell a story like you
Great series, great video, great deconstruction.
I'm right there with you, excellent stuff from Bungie in a pretty simple form though.
Atheon and the Precussors Were the first Vex that the evolved from then after they came into contact with "black heart" the two factions split... the precursors and the rest of the Vex.@Sir Wallen - Lore Seeker
hey could you please do a video about the guardians from the perspective of the cabal, or vex
for example....
"the guardians display a skill in both agility and armor, they are extremely deadly due to their ability to revive using ghosts, we know little about this technology, but are trying to re-create it for our cabal soildoirs
Any info on who you think could be the 'Taken King' I thought maybe Oryx?
Sometimes when im battling the vex before i kill them it looks like they wave to me
If Vex are outside the laws of space and time, could they be pulling vex out of other timelines, just as other time lines are pulling vex from our time line? This would break some laws of physics, but it might explain why the vex are infinite?
who would win Vex or Prometheans (forerunners)?
Thats a tough question, I'm not sure honestly.
you should do a series about this, and see what your fans would say Who would win
Fallen vs Elites
Cabal vs Brutes
Hive vs Flood
Guardians vs Spartans
Atheon( in the VoG) vs The Didact
Wally

I could, but I'm not super big on Halo vs Destiny to be honest.
Wally (when i say this its not in a OMG put me on TH-cam so i can be famous way) if you play on XB 360 you can add me i can tell you anything you want to know about halo . (im a super nerd when it comes to halo ive read all the books)
Where is he while wielding the pistol at the end?
Don't forget about the Aegis, which was the Greek god Zeus's shield
Maybe we will go to Mercury for a mission/dlc, Maybe they are on Saturn since the rings
Hopefully, we will see.
Where is that area @ 11:17? Awesome vid!
there like trasfomers alive a life form
And they aren't in disguise, but I feel you on the inspiration, they do look like mini decepticons.
and maybe that big dark heart or there god is the darkness like the light but evil so both sides made there fighters ghost/gardians vs vex
Well we are champions of the light, so it could be accurate.
Could we get an Exo video?
Sam0ansrule It is in the wings without a doubt, just a few weeks away.
Sweet mate, thanks for the heads up. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Has anyone ever noticed that Vex and First Civilization (From Assassin's Creed) architecture and buildings are identical?
Amazing video!!! 1+ subscriber
Maybe the vex will adapt and construct themselves based on the guardians image since we killed their god so we are more powerful.
What is the vex are actually trying to help us because they were berried on all the majour planets (supposedly)
They could be something like the Warsats like Rasputin
Damn, I like the vex a lot more now
Does Bungie know u do this? Because they should see this as amazing work.
My theory is that they were created by humans. That's why they act like us. If they found the ability to move units through time, it would explain why they predated us.
I no longer support this theory.
a goblin does not come from greek mythology. It comes from folklore from the middle ages, apparently first recorded in the 14.th century.
@sir wallen-lore what if the vex are a malevolent ai ?
powerful destiny needs to hire you to find a way to present the information through the console
I wish man.
Wally, what are your thoughts on Red Death and Thorn?
GamerGuild Videos in PvP/PvE? Or Lore wise?
PvE and PvP.
Thorn and the Red Death are decent in PvP, but the Thorn is easily one the strongest hand guns in pvp with the burn damage.
the three bosses are normal descendant and precursor minotaurs
I came to a similar theory.
The original concept art of the black garden had a curved floor almost as if it were apart of a sphere.
Quick question, if Vex can teleport....then why are there stairs in the VOG?
yos2481 thats a great question.
they also live on mercury
What if the vex were created by the traveler to protect against the hive, fallen and cabal. They then turned on the traveler and its light and began to worship the darkness.
I've gotten to the point where if someone says "hobgoblin" I kill them. They killed me more then any other enemy.
well this is my theory its kinda off topic but about the cabal too i was thinking that maybe the vex were defeated by the cabal one time just like how the romans defeated the greeks and maybe also that the cabal has a god like think just like the heart of the black garden(because the romans adopted the greek religion) so maybe with that the new dlc of forge of gods hint GODS you might fight a cabal form of a vex god just my theory idk if it is even 100% correct and i was also thinking maybe atheon was one of the gods in the vex religion but banished or forgotten because atheon sounds like atheist and how atheon was trying to kill or destroy rest of the gods
So we don't know who or what made them?
Not yet, there are a lot of theories out there as to who the Vex truly are, I think I will be doing a series on this at some point in the future.
Wally Cool, that would be awesome to see!
SPACE!!!
I wish I could understand you but ur Grammer is bad
Taboourchin17 sorry im not american
i understand
The lore seems really interesting. I just wish it was part of the actual game.
A lot of people share that mindset, but, better it there than not at all right?
Wally - Lore Seeker
Well it's nice to see that they did come up with a lore, but I feel the game would be more engaging story wise if a lot more of this was in it.
Well it's nice that we have people like you talking about the lore here. It's more entertaining than just reading grimoire cards.
That is the main goal, to take something not as good it as it could and making it better.
I don't have all 3 ghost fragments :(
SCIENCE!!!
