    Incredible video. Probably my favorite of all of them. So informative and that parts list with links is pure gold. Although after clicking on most of the links, the cost to do all that plus time and tools is no joke. Very similar to the cost of converting to single turbo. BUT boy oh boy are you going to be able to put that power to the ground now. Really excited to see this car back at the drag strip. The install seemed to be top notch, really enjoyed watching your friend work. Jealous of all the wheel/tire choices at your disposal now!

    • @jake_spence
      @jake_spence  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chad! It's definitely similar to the undertaking of a proper single turbo install. I think the car definitely needed all of this for the way I've been using it. I'm glad you're still following along, even if I'm not posting on the forums as much.

    Fantastic effort. I'm blown away by how much work that was to swap all of that out. Makes me wonder if my 2008 335xi will need any of those parts. I just got into autocross and drag racing last summer and will be hitting it up again this year. Man I love my car. It's such an improvement from the 3 Ford Taurus' I used to own.. Just put in a Spec single-mass lightweight flywheel and clutch last month. Next is the intake, intercooler, and spark plugs.

      I am loving it! Sucks that I haven't really been able to drive it because of the snow. But I'm itching to get it out again this spring. I enjoyed the stock ratio because I do 1/2 mile 170mph+. But shorter gears would be good for shorter tracks.

    i used the cheap ebay heim joint rod end control arms, billet bushings all around with seems legit garage 8.8 kit. oem 328i rear rotors, x1 calipers and a 2mm washer as a shim to center the caliper. all oem and cheap small brake conversion. double adjustable drag shocks and softer coil spring. aside from the 8.8 kit, the rest of the entire rear end was like $700. 3 years later still going strong

Any idea how the 135i with all these goodies (Especially the M3 arms, rear subframe bushings and LSD added) would compare to an e92 M3 specifically in terms of handling? Considering either modifying a 135i or keeping an e92 M3 relatively stock as a next weekend car/canyon carver.

    Love the car! Question Jake I have a 2011 135i, if I were to do the hub conversion to a 3 series one for better wheel Fitment would I need to change any other stock parts? Basically would I be able to just order the the straight part of the list you provided, I know you did to be able to fit 15inch wheels. My issue is I rub a little bit with in the rear using 18x9.5 wheels.

    I had a question even if I sensed that you said it in the video, but if you could write me in detail the sizes of tires and tires of both axles that you used including offset and if you used spacers, but I don't seem to have seen any . I am very grateful to you if you help me. Thanks so much.

    Spherical bushings don't need preload when tightening just as a heads up. It's only the static rubbers that need to be at ride height.

    Saw it all, damn it was long but I finally saw everything involved in great detail. I have a E90 335i LCI which might be different in wheel offsets compared to the non LCI if doing all the M3 arms. You probably could of brought another 135i for the price of this rear end overhaul its crazy how much this stuff costs. Get swaybars if you're tracking it the subframe will need to be dropped a bit.

    Sick work....how you liking they vibrating tho? What motor mounts you got. I ripped through 2 different ones after i went solid everything. Now i got solid mounts. Also when you run the slicks i recommend going 0 camber in the back or you will eat up slicks and lose traction.

    • @jake_spence
      @jake_spence  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't really noticed any increased vibration. I have new stock motor mounts. I will keep an eye on everything, but I think since I have poly trans and poly diff mounts, it'll be more forgiving than completely solid. We tried getting camber as close to 0* as possible.

    • @jake_spence

      Nope, no additional NVH or noise from the solid rear subframe bushings. The newer F-series BMWs don't even have bushings, they're directly mounted to the chassis of the car. But if you use solid differential bushings, you will feel some vibration and noise.
