I have the honeycomb throttle quadrant and the honeycomb yoke. As soon as the honeycomb rudder pedals are available will be getting them as well! Love their products!
I have the HoneyComb Throttle and I say it's worth every cent. I've gotten many hours of fun in MSFS. I rarely tough my keyboard or mouse around in the screen, other than when using the G1000.
i love the thrustmaster TCA quadrant. having auto pilot function is brilliant. you're getting two devices for the price of one. In VR it works really well.
Very nice comparison! I currently use the Bravo in a GA twin prop setup, and quite like it. The switches don't work too well with MSFS IMHO, so I disabled them. But the trim wheel, gear selector and flaps switch are all really nice. The auto pilot controls are okay, although I would have preferred dedicated dials for the different functions. The best part are the levers and their sensors, they feel great and at least on my unit have no jitter at all.
I have a CH Products setup with an old yoke and pedal combo that I bought used back in 2001. Works fine. Still, I wanted to upgrade to the Honeycomb system but when I saw the footprint of the Bravo at my local store, there was no way. They're huge. I also don't like the idea that if something breaks, it will be a headache to try and fix. I liked the Saitek but in the end I chose the CH Quadrant to match my existing setup. I like that it's small and I'm hoping it lasts as long as my yoke and pedal. $90 wasn't a bad deal either. I'm also going to buy a X-Touch Mini to make up for some of the buttons and knobs that the CH lacks. Also if something breaks, the cost to replace it won't be too bad.
I have the three and it works for me! The Logitech flight yoke and quadrant which I use for general planes, the airbus Thrustmaster captain edition for the airbus and the Boeing throttle and quadrant for Boeings!
It should probably be noted that the Boeing thrust master throttle is just an addon for their 787 yoke, on the yoke there is a few configurable buttons and a landing gear lever
Crazy that you need different periferals for almost all the different aircraft. Super expensive and impractical. I wish there was some kind of haptic gloves/suit to replace all those periferals.
Not sure if I am in the minority but as a Mac + Xplane 12 sim player the Xplane 12 support for the Honeycomb Software is basically vaporware. Luckily the unit is well built and works. All I'm missing is the LEDs and being able to select autopilot functions and adjust with the knob.
Hello, For a few days I've got the Thrustmaster TCA Throttle that looks like a real Airbus throttle and I think it's not a good one if you want to fly many different aircrafts. Maybe it's good for Airbus, maybe good for some other liners or 2 engines aircrafts but not done for GA aircrafts. For most aircrafts I still use a Logitech Throttle Quadrant. You can fly any plane with that kind of quadrant, not with the TCA Quadrant. You often needs 3 axes (throttle, propeller, mixture)
The Virtual Fly TQ6+ was my favourite I’ve ever had. Still regret selling it. I sold it and bought a RealSimGear GNS430 and Bravo throttle quadrant for it in return.
I managed to find a hardly used Saitek TPM (Cessna style) for a bargain price. It has excellent accuracy on the axes and together with the 9 easy to memorize rocker switches it's perfect for VR!
That’s a really good find! I remember about 6-7 years ago those were easy to get, even locally. But now you have to find deals like this. Happy you managed to get one.
I bought the new Logitech throttle (with USB) and Honeycomb Yoke to replace my Saitek Throttle (old Logitech with round plug) and yoke. I didn't need the new throttle except for the plug end would not work with the Honeycomb. Anyway, am I off base in thinking Logitech is hot garbage? The Honeycomb Yoke was plug and play, BUT I am still trying to get the Logitech throttle adjusted. I am realizing when I was all Logitech product I was probably spending more time in the settings than flying the sim! Adjusting, updating drivers, re-loading and re-trying and flying to find more bugs was a cyclical loop. I'm considering sending the throttle back and getting the Honeycomb Bravo throttle even though I don't really want to take up that much space, but if it is plug and play it will be worth it. I am still using FSX until my new more powerful computer arrives, then I will consider MSFS2020. Suggestions?
1:50 It is not dust per se. Sensors in those are potentiometers, potentiometers are shit and should not be used in any flight sim gear post 2018. Potentiometer has inherent noise (that is what you saw as twitchy axis) and can degrade over time, you can clean it but it will be temporal solution for like a week to month. Some of throttles or joysticks has noisy potentiometers right from the box just unpacked.
Since I wanted fairly compact, but accurate and reasonable quality, I ended up with vkb. Really nice setup and works great whether Im flying airliners or turboprops. Havent purchased the autopilot module, bit was considering it. Does it seem to work well?
I’m not 100% sure if this was the shop or not, but this is the box: realflightshop.com/en-us/hardware/throttle/product/362-quadrant-box-for-saitek-throttle-quadrant-dual-throttles.html
I bought the Logitech throttles about a year ago, and they were jittery within a few weeks. Too bad, because otherwise I liked them a lot. Bought a Bravo, which is big and heavy, but the sensors are a lot better.
Don't waste your $... I appreciate all the youtubers product reviews but most don't tell the full story, especially if they are sponsered. Anyway, to get these throttles to work properly you will need to purchase or download support software...so do your own research.
@@RealWorldAviationandGaming9392 These would not be my first choice now, though they were 7 years ago. But they have always been plug and play on FSX/P3D/XP11. Aside from you have to tell each axis what you want it to do. I never had to buy anything extra to get them to work. In fact I just plugged them into XP12 for the first time per this comment, and they work right away.
My Bravo throttle has stopped working with MSFS, it used to work??; MS has acknowledged there are problems but have said they're not fixing it just yet. hence why I'm here, I need to buy a throttle that works.
Nothing works? Does it mention any dual axes bound? Try remapping the axes again. I saw a forum post where that fixed it. Another post it was an issue because the the ignition was on. Or is it not being picked up in the menus?
Hello, I’ve been checking out the turtle beach system, but I’m wondering what to do when I use the joystick, I see the throttle quadrant is detachable from the yoke, can you tell me if that is mountable by itself? The bottom looks flat, is it? Are there screw holes?
One thing not mentioned which is THE most important: the inside technology. Potentiometers are shit. Potentiometers will spike eventually as they collect dust or even worse: the potentiometer itself starts to wear (which WILL happen) and the product becomes useless. As far as i know Honeycomb and Logitech(former Saitek) uses potentiometers. Trustmaster uses HALL sensors: a magnet that moves over a sensor (NO physical contact lik,e with potentiometers) and is much more accurate and will NOT wear or spike. The Honeycomb looks so much better to use as a 737 throttle, even with the 737 expansion online for sale but i tell you: after a year of use, the levers will start to spike. Be smart with the choice :)
I bought the honeycomb bravo and its ok but so big. Takes up way too much desk space. Also the switches are impossible to use as the throttle levers get in the way. The trim wheel conflicts with the gear lever. Piss poor design IMHO.
for the Saitek throttle can you control more than one engine with one quadrant or do you need multiple to control multiple engines, i'm just asking because I saw a bundle with a joystick and the saitek throttle. I was also going to get an external hard drive for extended storage to play Xplane 11 and I was going to get the bundle which includes the saitek throttle.
If multi engine, you can assign all engines to just one lever or you can assign each engine to it's own lever. For these Saitek throttles I've always like to have the throttle in the middle controlling all engines, and the left and right for spoilers/flaps.
Hi Jk, you should have no problem with that hardware combination. You just have to make sure nothing gets dual mapped by default. That sometimes causes one or both controls to not respond until it's fixed.
Most of these cheap plastic throttoys are using old and cheap potentiometers which will eventually lead to the twitchy that you mentioned for the saitek one, and they are low res. The VirtualFly metal deal is certainly not but with too much a co$$$t. The thrustmaster ones are underwhelming but are good for their contactless hall effect sensors which are inherently not prone to the twitchy like the pots and generally have better precision/resolution. Unfortunately the VKB one is not like their other great product that uses hall sensors, but likely they are using higher quality pots as they are a much better company than those stingy toy makers. The honeycomb bravo is generally over praised given its low res cheap potentiometers and bad wiring for the buttons on the handle which are prone to pinch after months or few yrs of use. Too bad there are no civilian sim throttles existing that are good enough to be the equivalent to those combat sim throttles made by Virpil, Winwing, and the one is making by the VKB. One thing though, if you are flying (single engine) combat aircraft and also into single engine GA, the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO + OTA(Omini Throttle Adapter that converts the former joystick to a "throttle") might be a better choice. Albeit with a similar price you can get Winwing's F18 throttle grip on the Gemini throttle/collective base for a twin-engine setup... It's really a shame that almost everyone is only interested in making these overpriced (and some of them are stuck in obsoleted tech for decades) plastic toys, and few others only make semi or full professional level products that are too expensive, with no middle-ground. Oh I forgot there is one from the Fulcrum Simulator Controls in the making. And if honeycomb can finally ditch their pots carry over from the old saitek age and fix those weak points, it will become something really worthy to be recommended as an entry-level product.
Fulcrum looks good, but probably expensive too. The yoke has force feedback too I think. Yeah the Thrustmaster one is 16 bit too so thats a nice resolution to work with.
@@TheFlightSimDeck yeah a lit bit expensive when compared to those plasticies, but IMO it should be compared to the VirtualFly ones given its multirole and full metal design plus high res hall sensors etc, which will make it a real bargain. But I still used them for a couple of years. All three axis would twitch. When trying to put flaps out it would constantly try to retract from the notch I had set.
