Oooooh the Murcielago. This and Diablo were the V12 Lamborghinis of my formative years, and they are rare here in Indonesia. So seeing one is always a special occasion. My dream Murc has got to be a manual LP640 in Giallo Orion or Verde Draco (like the e-Gear unit Jeremy drove in TopGear back in 2007). Would not kick an early 6.2 out of the bed, though...
Also, that Murcielago 40th Anniversary Edition was all finished in a turquoise-blue-green shade called Verde Artemis. It's stunning to look at.

This is pinnacle Lamborghini - an early Murcielago. Sadly it’s lost its original tail lights, but still. I’m glad James feels the same about the early ones being the best.
Absolutely beautiful with perfect flowing lines and not too many pointy edges. Losing a point here for having the ‘wings’ up which spoil the lines. The sound of the Murcielago is the best of any road car, ever. The race car sounds even better.

Having been born in the mid- to late 90s, I've always held Murciélago in the highest regard among Lamborghinis. It was my 'formative' Lambo, and by this point, I can appreciate it all the more as a wedge of sorts in Lamborghini's history: it pioneers this styling language and is the final V12 Lambo with a manual, while also being the last bastion of the Bizzarrini V12.
The SV has to be my favorite incarnation; specifically, with the ducktail spoiler. I love this model in its entirety, though, even the Roadster with its hilariously silly softtop.

It was the era of V10 M5s and RS6s, W12 VWs, E63 AMGs, and a time when the manual supercar wasn't a near extinct species. I also love how cars from that era look, from things like the Ford Fiesta and VW Polo, all the way to the Enzo Ferrari, or this car. It's definetely my favourite "modern" (if I can even call it that lol) Lambo, although I prefer them in yellow, or that light green color. Unfortunately, I'm not in the market for one, right now as a fresh uni graduate, I'm more in the market for a Mondeo, or Passat of the era lol.

I thought that would be very much akin to Triggers Broom (its the same Lambo but its just had new bumpers and an exhaust and suspension and wheels n tyres and a new gearbox and engine and front wings and rear wings and windscreen n roof and chassis and....and....etc) and be as far from its origins as its possible to get. Id still have this stunning car in a hearbeat! The owner is literally the ULTIMATE Lambo owner, there can't be another owner in the WORLD thats put as many miles on their car as this LEGEND!!!

Then, this morning, I was reading an old copy of Vantage (the brilliant Aston Martin magazine) and there, hey presto, was an article on that very car and input from Simon George. For some reason, despite reading Evo back in the day and following the exploits of this Lambo, I never put Simon and 6th Gear together! And now you bring us a video of the Lambo! Aaaahhh, triggers new broom! It still features occasionally in the magazine, always really love knowing it’s still doing the rounds! Lasy update I’d seen, it’d just had a bit more TLC.

Never thought I would have seen a Lambo with that mileage in my lifetime! kudos to the owner, plus really like the worn scuffed accelerator pedal!

Thats how it was made to be. Glad this was realized and it was driven instead of being stored in a garage to "appreciate" in value.

Love hearing you talk about putting miles on the 550...it's now about running-costs-only, depreciation-proof driving. And it's only done one third of the mileage of the Murcielago, and the 550 was actually built to do continental mileages.

So good to have a update on this amazing car, like you use to read about it in evo and I even saw it on the driving experience day, did not drive it as I was in a atom

When I read that mileage I instantly assumed track experience car.
I drove a Murcielago myself some years ago. It was not as handsome, being flat yellow rather than this lovely orange.
Was a nice few laps anyway

Hey I gotta say if he's having trouble with the thing and its on its second engine rebuild tell him to take it easy and not get on it till the fluids have warmed up, the heads on these things are part aluminum with steel bearings that the camshafts sit in, meaning they have two different heat indexes based on when they expand and contract
and to also take a look at the rims and tires, as the very first ones had a problem where they just had too much wheel on the tire and would overload the diff's in the car with the rotational mass of the wheels
so some lighter weight rims and tires might not be such a bad resto mod to do to it, provided their speed rated for what the car can do
or just take the 4 wheel drive system off and replace it with some larger front rims and tires with a stiffer anti roll bar in the back
as the bizzarini V12 was never designed with 4 wheel drive in mind, and the earlier diablos which didnt have it were better for it
and culiminated in by far the best lamborghini ever made, the Diablo SV, which is a little dated looking in the front
but the horns on that bull are still as sharp as ever, and its made before they started turning everything into melted cheeze
which is a look that has never worked for lamborghini
also as a matter of facthe might wanna ask tavarish for that set of exhaust pipes he took off his murcie, and replaced with an even louder set of pipes
as by accident, he had fitted the perfect exhaust that actually made a murcie, sound just as good as a countach
which was just something the murcie was never good at despite having the same engine, it just never sounded right
and somehow he found just the right pipes, and then took them off
also the Seatle boy is cursed, and just causes all of his problems by the way, like I know you like the murcie, but just watch someone else
and the Murcies construction was changed, they went away from the steel tubes to Gurters, its something Harry metcalf's mechanic covered when he went over the thing
so some of the design is from the past, and it is what it is, a stretched diablo, but other parts arent
and you would think that they would have gotten some of the stability of the diablo prototype, the Cizeta Moroder V16T in this, but I think they overtired the cars
as once you reach above a certain weight to width index with the tires, which GM found out to be 275 as a max before they start to hydroplane with the 16 X 8's they had on the C4
its in the book that UK corvette guy wrote, the same one who supplied lotus with spares for the ZR1
    Tom Falconer
that it might be defeating itself by just being too damn big in the rear

Winter, maybe still autumn of 2005 or 2006… I found one parked in a place I was frequently going through. Bad light conditions (evening, yellow street lamps…) but I had to take two shots on CIF (352x240px) camera in Siemens C65 (in which I had Asphalt Urban GT…).

I remember seeing this car at Knockhill at a Lamborghini day when it must have been fairly new. The first shape TT was still for sale. I’ve probably got the EVO magazines it featured in too, it hit a tree once I recall.
