I forgot to mention using a higher aperture will make those shots alot more in focus of course! Also, I balance the entire system and then adjust the roll again after inserting a HDMI cord for monitor use.
which is not the best choice in low light situations. so how do you usually handle the focussing? is there a decent autofocus with the fotodiox adapter?
Thumbs Up!!! Mounting/Balance: 00:37 Motor Settings: 05:53 Walking Technique: 08:41 Focus: 9:36 @ycimaging Thank you for another dope and informative video!
DUDE!!! Thank you for this tutorial! This is light years better than the one made by DJI, mainly bc you show the possible struggles in the process whereas they pop their shit out of the box and it's perfect. You made me feel like I was not losing my mind! Great job!
I've had the M for a couple of years now and going back over this video has helped re-tune it and has allowed me to get the most out of it without constantly upgrading to a new gimbal...Very helpful!
An EXCELLENT guide to the Ronin. I got mine a few weeks ago and have watched a ton of tutorials. This is by far the best video on it. You covered every aspect that I considered important!
i remember watching this video awhile back last year i told myself i was gonna get the Ronin M 🙏🏽 a year later i officially got the money purchased it last week will be at my door step tomorrow 🔥🎥🙌🏾💯🙏🏽 blessings from above
TIM i love it man the only con i have to it is how fatigued you can get while using it the little sucker can be heavy imma post a video really soon of it today marks one month that i’ve had it!!!!
Same here fam..I was using a glidecam for the longest and I just said you know what..let me make this upgrade..best decision I ever made..and it looks way more professional. Jus don't make the mistake I did and forget to buy a right angled hdmi to mini cuz it will mess up your motor.
If you use wider focal lengths, you have the ability to use a wider apertures (ex. 1.8) If you use tighter focal lengths, you have to use higher apertures (ex 3.5 and up)
I'm scrambling to learn as much as possible about the Ronin since I'll need to use it for a job this weekend and your video was very informative and clear. Thanks!
I just purchased a ronin m and i have a sony a6000 i need to mount it to the long bracket I see you have a extra accessorie that goes around the camera and then mounts to that bracket need some help great tutorial on balancing and like how u showed how to get steady footage tip .thanks for all your time to help us newbies.
You didn't touch on moving subjects like the artist walking towards for you for these one take music videos. I would assume you shoot at 18mm to keep everything semi focus right? But, I know the Sony does has auto lock focus tracking not sure if it will work with that type of lens tho.
Really appreciate everything you do man. DJI videos barely helped me, and all of your Ronin content changed everything for me. When using a monitor, should I balance the Ronin with it mounted, or wait till after I have the camera fully balanced? I have a lot of trouble getting it balanced when I have the monitor pre mounted and the cables connected to my camera. Recently Ive just been ditching the monitor because it complicates things. Let me know my dude. Appreciate you
Great video Bro! great real time tutorials and thorough! (and just to clarify.. you're right on the pan axis...the more weight there is on the plate..the further back it needs to shift to bring the front weight into the centre of gravity!)
been watching you for 3 years now and im about to finally grab myself a ronin m tomorrow for my a6500 and sigma 18-35, cant wait to be able to fly that lens on a gimbal, also great video learned a bunch
I love you guy ! I'm French I watch all the videos, and precisely that's the question I was wondering just now! How to handle the focus when using the ronin.
love this damn video. I haven't use a gimbal many times (three times to be exact) and I'm picking a Ronin M up next week...one thing I struggled with when I used one is the focus. Thanks for the tip on that.
Only Question I have is if you have a screen connected tot he camera and you wanna attach it to the ronin, you'd have to balance it with that extra weight of the screen right? Thanks for this video and all the others. Great help.
If somebody ask me for where I'm learn to use Ronin-M YCImaging please! Thanks so much for sharing those tricks I can set the motor to the right numbers after watching your frist motor setting video really appreciated!
Hey man, this is really helpful. I picked up one yesterday and I'm so excited to use it.. your instructions seems point on. Thanks for putting out great content.
OMG! I literally thought the opposite! I had thought if you shot at a higher f stop it would be better than something like f1.8...have to try this now :)
@YCImaging Thanks for this! I just recently got my Ronin-M. The information was helpful. Question, what are some of your suggestions for shooting a music video using a Canon 70D?
Great job! Thanks! I'm just having problems syncing DJI Ronin Assistant on my Android to my Ronin. The app picks it up but just wont connect after that.
Hey Wassup YC I just bought the Ronin M and your video was very Knowledgeable but I having trouble balancing the Sony Fs5 any pointers will be greatly appreciated it seems more easier with a DSLR
Super helpful - Thanks!! I have a prime Sigma 35mm (that's my widest). What aperture do you recommend using on it for push-in/pull-out moves? Anything beyond 5.6 maybe? Thanks!
{my grammer is sucks}sorry for that--- For me you are my first mirrorless and cinematic teacher, things like color graded, lighting and many more , im just new beginner im gonna buy ronin m in a week, and i have sony a6300 18-105mm, 16-50mm, and there are much competition, in INDIA mostly people hired cinematographer for only weddings, not for advertisement or song 99% , competition is too tough, i feel like in cinematographer world im just few days old baby, Mind is really blown up when i saw superb cinematic videos, and thinking that when i will achieve that tone and how much time i need to get in shape, im really inspired by you, thanks and wish me luck little bit , camera is my life i just cant leave this world and join some job, i really love it like this is the world i live for, it is good to be help by you, love you sir , best wish for you that one day you will shoot video albums and movies
Great video again, but can you please help me... :-( I turned on my ronin and it turns towards the back not facing the front. and It makes a weird noise and shakes. It's balanced though!!
I forgot to mention using a higher aperture will make those shots alot more in focus of course! Also, I balance the entire system and then adjust the roll again after inserting a HDMI cord for monitor use.
YCImaging bout time my nigga!! Thank you
which is not the best choice in low light situations. so how do you usually handle the focussing? is there a decent autofocus with the fotodiox adapter?
Slatschke No autofocus with Fotodiox adapter I use.
wrote my comment before i even watched through the whole video. great insights to the focussing process, nice! thanks
YCImaging so like a 2.8 aperture is better than a 1.8 when focusing
Thumbs Up!!!
Mounting/Balance: 00:37
Motor Settings: 05:53
Walking Technique: 08:41
Focus: 9:36

Haha, appreciate it man. I remember how frustrating it was when I first got my ronin.
I've had the M for a couple of years now and going back over this video has helped re-tune it and has allowed me to get the most out of it without constantly upgrading to a new gimbal...Very helpful!

Hey predator. I got one last week. Could you send me a link or reference of an hdmi cable? I don't want to mess up the motor..
afonso.ponto I used this one bro works like a charm to me www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SY2CNF6?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title&th=1
Your balancing tech was 20x better than the DJI Tutorial online my dude
Nice little tutorial. I have been shooting for 27 years and this little device is amazing for upgrading shots.
If you use wider focal lengths, you have the ability to use a wider apertures (ex. 1.8)
If you use tighter focal lengths, you have to use higher apertures (ex 3.5 and up)
I'm planning on getting a ronin soon so this video helped a lot thank you
Did you ever end up getting one? I’d like to know what you think of it. Or do you know of any better alternatives? Thanks
I'm scrambling to learn as much as possible about the Ronin since I'll need to use it for a job this weekend and your video was very informative and clear. Thanks!

Great video Bro! great real time tutorials and thorough! (and just to clarify.. you're right on the pan axis...the more weight there is on the plate..the further back it needs to shift to bring the front weight into the centre of gravity!)
been watching you for 3 years now and im about to finally grab myself a ronin m tomorrow for my a6500 and sigma 18-35, cant wait to be able to fly that lens on a gimbal, also great video learned a bunch
hey YC, are you able to move the ronin M diagonally? or is it just side to side and up and down?
The balancing part really helped me out. Thanks
I love you guy ! I'm French I watch all the videos, and precisely that's the question I was wondering just now! How to handle the focus when using the ronin.
auto focus, or pre set the focus because you can't change it on the move

Just got my very own ronin. Love the video! Very helpful, simple and practical, Thanks man!
Only Question I have is if you have a screen connected tot he camera and you wanna attach it to the ronin, you'd have to balance it with that extra weight of the screen right? Thanks for this video and all the others. Great help.

Two thumbs up on that focal length tip
Hey YC! Great video, been longing for this. I would appreciate it much if you can also do a shoulder rig tutorial. Thanks
can you mount a screen onto it?
Thanks for the tutorial. How are you shooting wide open without an ND filter?
OMG! I literally thought the opposite! I had thought if you shot at a higher f stop it would be better than something like f1.8...have to try this now :)
Thanks so much for this video. You made learning how to use this setup way less daunting.

Manna-hata Movies the Android app is trash. Thinking about getting a used iPod touch just for this app...
@dennis Thanks Dennis. Yeah it worked for me 1 time. I appreciate the feedback.
I just went to the DJI website and they had a program that helps reset the password and stuff. Check it out www.dji.com/ronin-m/info#downloads
Product of Sol. Thanks!
Manna-hata Movies 💯
Hey bro how did you get the c70 on the gimble?
just watched this.... 3rd video and now i got it! Subscribed!
How can you adjust for the horizontal balance? On a glidecam or gimbal ? I know you fix it in post but that will require cropping in
Awesome video man I loved this!
are you using manual or autofocus when doing your techniques?
Great video brother, been struggling with mine very recently this got me back on target..
Curious. 🤔 Why don't you use the thumb controller? It's super convenient for me.
Just haven't gotten around to purchasing one yet.
I love this video, it is exactly what I was looking for in help with my Ronin.
Can c70 fits on it???
Can someone point me to a place I can purchase the bracket/adapter mentioned at 1:13? I use the AF-S Nikkor 18-35 mm lens mostly.
So do you normally use manual focus when you are doing your videos?
Thank you my G! This video should've been on the DJI Ronin page over the ones they've already got cause I actually understood this 😆👌
You taught me more than any of my counter parts /friends who i ask , haters, lol, thanks bro i appreciate your work, and your information, FACTS!!!!
nice movie. Is the ronin-m strong enough for a canon C100? thanks
Fantastic focusing tips man. Thanks for the video.
Hey Wassup YC I just bought the Ronin M and your video was very Knowledgeable but I having trouble balancing the Sony Fs5 any pointers will be greatly appreciated it seems more easier with a DSLR
Amazing video. Really great work! Thank you!
Do you a ND Fader on your lens shooting at 1.8 or do you ramp up the shutter speed to compensate for the light?
YSProductions My adapter has a built in ND
Thanks, I have a big shoot on Friday. This helps
I enjoyed the video. Thank you. I've had no luck whatsoever finding the app for Android, though. Do you have a link for it?
what camera settings do yo use to get nice flat stock footage like that??? im about to get my first came and put your teachings to work!!
Super helpful - Thanks!! I have a prime Sigma 35mm (that's my widest). What aperture do you recommend using on it for push-in/pull-out moves? Anything beyond 5.6 maybe? Thanks!
Max Remote Distance? Keen to know how far the remote can be used.
Helped me out a bunch! I was completely lost when I got it in the mail 😁 Thank you!
Just got the ronin m and its all good except the lens support is blocking the focus knob, is it necessary to have ?
This was great. Thanks
Thank you so much for this - really informative. Beautiful shooting!
Have you ever used it in the rain? if so how would you protect it
Thanks for a great, real-world tutorial.
Love this video... Where are you located???
Great tutorial brotha.
Would this system hold a canon c100 and rokinon 35mm lens?
Great video...My Ronin drops tomorrow! This will help
After all these years, this video really saved my ass-- cheers brother, sending lots of love
Dude this was SO helpful. Thank you

One Of Your Best Ever, Thank's Bro.
Amazing info. more blessings to your career
Are you adjusting with the power on or off?
What did you add under your a6300? The thing you used so your zoom isn’t rubbing against the ronin.
