Im putting all my eggs in one basket with crown zenith, I feel like its one of the sets that was always there for the longest and people never appreciated it enough since it was heavily printed, but once the supply runs out people will miss it and will want more of it for nostalgia.

@@pokeoz91 I'm so excited. I've had a Book channel for a few years and I just started a Pokemon channel. Your advice is great. A lot of bad information about alt-investing is out there, but as someone who's been in the game for forever -- you know your stuff!
Twilight and paldea evolved will be the most recent sets I'm investing in the scarlet and violet era so far.
As far as SWSH era goes I'm stacking fusion strike, crown zenith and chillijg reign. Evolving skies is probably the best set we've ever had in pokemon the price will reflect that in the next 5-10 years if you can any spare cash sitting about I'd suggest to pick up anything SWSH it's only going to go up.
Another great video bud keep up the hard work it's extremely refreshing to watch someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

Ive been buying booster boxes since i was 16. Sealed never even tried to open none of them though temptation is there like an addict looking for its next fix. Though i do buy packs and safe my favs in my binders.

Been contemplating which order to do master sets and this has helped a bit towards that list.
If Paldean Fates dodges a reprint then sleeping on the set is going to be a big regret for many people.
Also has readily available booster bundles so storing/posting ETBs isnt an issue.
I agree. Seems like it’s the biggest sleeper set in the whole SV era. 2 big gen 1 chases, gen 3 chase, multiple baby shines from gen 1, nice trainers. It really is big.

For every New Release of Pokémon TCG buy 2 boxes, 1 for you to open up, 1 to keep it and don't bother opening it until 10 years.

I firmly believe in brilliant stars and paldea evolved, just ordered 2 more brilliant stars boxes this morning because I feel like I can’t ever seem to find them anywhere for a good price anymore. I’m still hopeful that paldea evolved will get a reprint so I can grab another box or 2 for a bit cheaper

youve put obsidian almost similar as silver, i think silver will do way better longterm

The theme of the whole SV era is us getting a lot of cool art and no real chase cards. They keep missing obvious great ideas to the point that it almost seems intentional. Like your point about an SIR Gyarados and an IR pikachu and SIR Raichu. And getting sir promos in shrouded fable when none of the other SIR’s look good at all haha
And I’m not hating on the era by any means. I think it’s been amazing. I just feel like it’s crazy they keep failing to do obvious things and not giving us big chase cards

There is nothing to disagree with here. You brought up all valid arguments and honestly, I think your selection is perfect. Still wonder if Pia evolved had a Greninja or a crazy SIR Gerardos it would be no question be the best SV set set.

I’m brand new and I want to complete a full set for the first time. I really love 151 but they boxes are 100 or even 80$ for only 6 packs?!? Are there any other good ones to complete that are easy to get all the cards and for cheap? I love alakazam and the card arts in the set but idk if it’s worth the money.
Maybe paldean fates will be a bit more fun to open 👌

My take on Paldean fates: This set is almost impossible to complete as a collection because of the number of secret rares and shiny pokemon. This makes it a good investment. The 'Shiny Hunting' content out there is intense and I expect collectors to be chasing many cards to complete the set for a long time. I've decided to invest in this set rather than collect. Just picked up a Paldean Fates ETB for $59 and a Booster Box for $45. That's a good price for an ETB in Australia. Put it away and forget about it. A small investment but I'm hoping for a reasonable return say in 10 years or so.
I think it'll depend on print run for that set but it's nice hey!
Shrouded fable has sold out on Pokémon centre of triple packs in England & asda's in south dorset,england had at least 12 shrouded fable etbs @ £50 ,one is left!

Pokémon centre obsidian flames etb for the promo p/c stamped charmander has overtaken the 151 p/c snorlax promo too value wise & collectability
What am I missing... excuse my ignorance being new to the TCG since Obsidian Flames, but how come it is so poorly considered? It's a set focused around Charizard which is a homerun right (?) and has some other decent full arts (ninetails) much the same as the other sets?? Surely this is a sleeper set and a good buy now prices are so low?
Nah. It’s the last in a long line of charizard products. It’s cheap because no one likes it. The charizard is the same exact one from a previous set, just colored a little different. Same exact pose, same shape, same everything. That’s why the charizard is like $60. Also pull rates were super easy. So EVERYONE has the charizard from obsidian.
Obsidian flames is like the battle styles of SwSh, except I think battle styles is like 2x as good lol. Gaurenteed it’s the LAST set to sell out on Pokémon center. I wouldn’t touch it. Mayyyybeee 1 box but so many other products will earn you more $$
The first set I ever bought a sealed case of was Lost Origin.
The second was Twilight Masquerade 😆.

151, paldean fates, crown zenith all have booster bundles which could really be as much of or more of a play than booster boxes long term imo. Not as much to buy in, small and easy to store.

What are your thoughts on Pokemon Center booster boxes vs normal booster boxes? For example, here in Canada I can preorder a booster box for a new set (Surging Sparks) for $145 from a local store, or preorder from the Pokemon Center for $211. Do you think it’s worth the premium to buy from the Pokemon Center? Will there be a better return on investment in the long run?
There's no difference in a pokemon center booster box and one from a local store. But the cheapest you can. There are pokemon center exclusive elite trainer boxes, however.

How good a set is isn’t base off only on value. 25th celebration was good because of all the OG reprint of sets back in the day. Celebration for me is easily an investable set. More like 3.5-4 for me. If this set had another 10-15 extra hits it would’ve been a super good set.

SWSH base is investable because its base of SWSH which is a great era.

SV base first set with grey borders & a better set overall than SWSH base. And dont forget you can get it very cheap. seems investable to me
Print run, there's so much supply of S&V base. Booster Boxes are probably still an OK pick up.

If you find loose packs of Evolving Skies in retail tins (3 in the V Striker tins for example), is that worth the investment? I know a lot in the investment space say don’t invest in loose packs, but is it a bad investment getting loose packs at original MSRP?
Nahhh, that’s a solid investment. Even loose packs sell for like $12-14 now. There will always be a market for loose, because there will be people too broke to afford the real deal ;), and there’s plenty of degen gamblers and people opening for content/pack breaks!

i bought an evolving skies booster box for 300. is it smart to sell it now for 650 and invest in some new sets that are hyped up or keep the box seald for a few years ?

Japanese is investable too, We get good returns with japanese and English. You just have to do your research on the set and the singles.
I feel the same way about all the tricks that pokemon missed. You should work for them, and fix these issues please! Like the Latios and Latias should have both been exs

The key to pokemon investing is to just keep everything. If it drops, open it if you're gonna do anything to it. Don't SELL it. You might pull a chase, and if not, you're most definitely going to pull some things that you want to keep for the value to go back up and get most of your money back on what you opened. THEN sell the rest at the high price again. Just don't miss the wave twice.

Paldean Fates will be huge. It’s less printed than Shining Fates and everyone is scared to invest because of how bad Shining Fates did. This one will blow up!

@@pokeoz91yes and no. Shining Fates was printed into the ground, true. BUT it barely had any cards people cared about. Really just 1. PF has 4 super strong cards and doesn’t look like it’s going to be printed the same way. Charizard, Mew, Gardevoir, Pikachu are $. Plus it’s really flying under the radar with all the other sets. Obviously we can’t see the future, but I predict this set is going to be a pretty decent investment for the long holders like myself out there. Can get a booster bundle display for 250, sometimes less.
I think Shrouded Fable is slightly underrated, it could have been way better. But, it is kinda meh. I would say it's worth investing in 12-18 months when it's definitely out of reprint territory. Still only like a 2.5... but it's not total garbage.

Paldean Fates is WAY less printed than Shining Fates.
I think it’s better than Hidden Fates.
All Hidden Fates has is the Charizard and the shiny Umbreon full art.
Paldean has a sick shiny Charizard too and an awesome Mew and a gorgeous Gardevoir and alot of cool trainer cards.

With scarlet violet base peopl say it’s better then sword n shield base set n most base sets aswell as base sets going up quite well I’m sure most will get ripped so was suprised to hear 1.5 on this bosterbox

Great video! I will have to respectfully disagree with a couple of things.
1. Crown zenith as 3.5. if astral radiance is 4 (which I agree with) then CZ should be there. Yes it was heavily printed but so was evolving skies. The price just hasn't caught up to ES levels... Yet. Isn't that the whole point of the investing? The set is a banger set. Pull rates make it enjoyable and the art top to bottom in the gallerian Gallery is amazing. The GG has legendaries from at least 5 generations: 1, 2, 3, 4, 8. It is stacked!
2. S&V base started the IR and SIR era. It has the first 2 legendaries of Gen 9 in SIR form. This gen is the generation the kids today will know as their OG. No Ash and his gang from this generation in the anime going forward. This is a new defining era and if you are looking to invest it is important to look down the road and anticipate what the money will follow. Same reason I believe in Paldea evolved should be high.
But that's it. I agree with all of the others. The alt arts and illustration versions are a defining moment for pokemon cards for the better. I think they saved the pokemon card collecting. We are in a golden era of pokemon cards

Yuck. Invest into sword and shield base set. But not SV base set cause of nostalgia. Interesting. Sv base set is overprinted but has some nice cards. And can pick up bbs at 70-75$ count me in.

Idk about all this. The reason the base sets from years ago are so valuable is because no one was telling us to invest in them. Now every person and their mother knows to buy and treat their cards like collectibles and not toys
Yeah going to be big disparities. But that's not too say modern cards and boxes can't be worth lots of $$

I mean people are kicking themselves for not buying team up at $700-$1000. So evolving is a good one. It just depends if you can afford it.

I personally don't invest in holiday sets as I prefer booster box sets. It's a shame that English 151 wasn't a booster box set in my opinion, although it's a great set no doubt. Evolving skies is a goated set and will be a tough set to beat in terms of artwork and overall value moving forward. I could go on all day speaking about the Swsh & S&V era lol. Lastly, I'll be putting some of my $$$ into Paldea Evolved & Twilight Masquerade until i hear more about Surging Sparks, which I'm personally excited for. I'm also looking forward to seeing what the S&V era has to offer us in 2025. Great video as usual.🔥🔥

Grab the booster bundle sealed cases for 151. Looks awesome and is the equivalent of almost 2 booster boxes, 60 packs. Super overlooked. And all the people getting the restock bundles aren’t getting them sealed as sets of 10

usually I buy things from the big retailers in Aus when they go on special. Paldean fates ETB was around $49 at Target a few weeks back, now back up to full MSRP of $100 AUS. Two for one deal on any product I think is a good deal
Also snagged 3 151 poster packs (3 starters and 3 151 packs + 151 poster) the check out person only scanned it once so I got 3 packs of 151 poster packs for the price of 1 which was on special. So product worth $35 down to $12:50 and that’s all I paid for all three 😅

Mate, one thing though. Obsidian Flames is a Charizard set. Everybody dislikes it, but everybody is likely going to be wrong. Cool video otherwise!
Sets with no big chases will rise but not reach the same price points as sets with big chases, for sure!

If someone can see this comment hope it helps. Do not invest on all sets, only the ones you enjoy, this will be random sets in 5-10 years and not all of them will beat the stock market. Invest on index funds and only buy Pokemon cards with the money you dedicate to your hobbies, not the money you would use to invest. Modern sets won't ever get you rich and the hobby is not as liquid as you think.
