The way you explain your philosophy of the personal brand photography business and the practical details is excellent! Keep doing great content!

I am 4 months into my journalism role and put in charge of a segment where we feature African founders, activists, diplomats, small business owners etc. and I have noticed many don't have professional photos that can be used in such a scenario. I was thinking of starting talking this "professional photos" for them, I think its a good idea. I'm in Nairobi Kenya.

Yes this is a great idea! I have a handful of clients who have been featured in press and publications, and they use the personal brand photos I took for these features.

I have started to offer personal branding photography as one of my portfolios, so far more for small businesses, but I like the thought of working with individuals and have come up with a concept of shooting in a sort of fashion editorial but not negating the needs of the individual, and have been trying these concepts out on models of all ages and even older gent of his 60's. Its something I have had floating around in the back of my head, shooting a lot of model portfolios in the past, also what are your thoughts on males shooting PB Photography, as I only see and here about the ladies shooting this style of photography, sometimes I feel a little self conscious about it being an Australian male, I know, weird in itself, but love your videos, keep it up.

@@RodneyCage I love this! I’ve done a handful of model portfolios but only test shoots. I have worked with models on other shoots for apparel businesses though. I can totally understand being self conscious. I think there are a lot of women in this field, but I don’t think that’s a reason to not shoot personal brand photography! It’s still so new that I don’t think the industry has “stabilized” yet. There are a lot of men in commercial photography for sure!

I'm working with my first model for my brand photography portfolio. I'm wondering about aspect ratio... do you give your clients all 2:3 photos or do you crop them first (4:5 verticals, for example, for most social media). It seems like simplest question but I'm very curious to see how you approach it!

Hi Emily, I loved this one! You are getting better and better!! :) loved so much!! I would love to learn more about how you structure your repeated client offerings (is it monthly? or quarterly?). Do you prepare the Photoshoot Map and Moodboard for every single session? In terms of pricing, how would you charge? Maybe it could be an idea for a next video ;)

Hey Geise!! I love this! I saw you posted this in our membership Slack too so this is definitely something we'll cover there. I am also going to work on incorporating this topic into this series here on YT :)

Do you offer personal brand photography?! I'd love to know if you do or if you're considering it!

I'm absolutely considering it. This year has been a difficult one for me as a wedding photographer. I'm struggling to get anything here in the UK at the moment so I'm needing to pivot. This next couple of years is going to be make or break for me.
I've always loved portraits, it's always been what I've enjoyed shooting, but again, I've struggled to find the market. I openly admit I'm not great at the business side of things. I just want to shoot!!!

@@AndrewCockerillPhotography sorry to hear this year has been a difficult one! I’ve been hearing similarly from my wedding photog friends here in the states so you aren’t alone. Brand photography is a great niche because there are always businesses that need to promote themselves. But it does require being a bit more business savvy! The next few videos I have coming out will talk more about this 😄
