*Note:* This is in response to average/occasional feelings of stress or overwhelm, not clinical anxiety. While these steps might be helpful to your overall self care, I'm a girl on the internet, not your doctor. Shout out to meds if ya need them!
I’m someone that has been diagnosed with anxiety and taking meds; I still found these tips helpful. Take care of yourselves, folks! Go to your doctor, but also try tips like these, might make your days a little better. Thanks, Evelyn, for sharing!
Dead ass you played the Sound Bath clips and even with you talking over them I was like "where did the worries of today go?!?!" Henceforth and hitherto, I have a sound bath playlist now.
Thanks Cousin Ev, other cousins here's the synopsis of the gems she dropped. 1. stop and acknowledge how you're feeling 2. breath 3. sound bath, white noise, brown noise, rain (YT or Spotify) 4. go outside 5. ask for help 6. eat something 7. tidy up (for about 20 minutes)
Currently in quarantine due to Coronavirus and just discovered your Channel. Thank you for existing and appearing in my life when I really needed entertainment
My life coach taught me to take a nappuccino. You drink your favourite coffee and take a 20 minute nap. No longer than 20 minutes, otherwise you get really groggy. But for me, after a coffee and a little nap, I usually feel like a new woman. Even better if I do a spinach and lemon smoothie as well. Thanks for the video!
How am I waaaaayyy back in March on your videos?!?! Binging on Evelyn😍 " Relax dat jaw, sis!!" You are pure comedy gold and I always leave your videos with a big smile!! I'm ROLLIN'! 😂Thanks soooooo much for being here on the internets💘
Evelyn: Seasoning is a verb, amen Internet Cousins: head nodding and hand waving in deep agreement Karen: Well, actually.... Internet Cousins: SHE SAID WHAT SHE SAID!
A friend who wanted to help me recommended this video, and I'm so glad she did. I love your style and advice. I'm eating right now to get that blood sugar up and plan to go on a walk after I do a sound bath. I'm hoping this will help me get to a place where I can be closer to being my better self.
Thanks Evelyn! Step 5 is me all the time. I just don't seem to have the instinct to ask for help. Then I flounder, panic or non-productively procrastinate. Only recently I realized that maybe I'm used to being the helper since childhood. Can't see to break this bad habit.
Seems like a lot of internet cousins might not be able to go outside much (or at all) due to quarantine/social distancing, and probably more and more of us are gonna be in that situation soon. So maybe something small like getting a houseplant could be a little bit of a substitute for actually going outside while we get through this whole covid-19 thing. Plants improve indoor air quality, and you can have a little piece of nature with you while you're inside. In case it's already too late for you to go out shopping, you can order plants online. And if you can, try and eat some foods that give you those good vitamins too. Stay healthy, and if you're already sick, feel better soon!
Evelyn you are such a joy & pleasure to watch! You are always a form of sunshine on a cloudy day! Thank you for being you and sharing pieces of yourself with us!!! 🤗💗🥰👏🏽
With all this #StayHome movement rn cuz of the "C"-WORD, this video was rly helpful! Bless you, you are amazing 💫 Sending love to everyone 🌹We will get over this!
How did you know I needed this?! I'm feeling all types of whelmed right now and have no idea how to process everything I need to get done. Let me take some notes from this video cause I need help lol
Dang, this was helpful as heck. I will add one more thing though: drink water! Dehydration triggers anxiety and affects you blood pressure and temp leading you to feel nasty! I have depression and anxiety so I’m I’ve over here chugging water like a fish 😂🐠
Having to cope with depression for example is really hard, sometimes I feel overwhelmed for weeks even with medication, but I do know that there are a few changes I can make to actually feel better. The first is food, I stop eating too much sugar especially in the evening, I go out as you said for walks or brief jogs, I try to meet with people more and talk about what I am feeling. And then I limit the amount of things to do. Sometimes just getting one thing done can be enough. As a creative, going into the studio and writing songs is my form of doing something I love and also being productive, but I have realised that I have to work with others, that way I don't get lost in my self doubt. I started struggling with mental health about 5 years ago and in the beginning I couldn't manage to do much, now I've learned how to cope better and also prevent. It's a work in progress. But this video was so beautiful, it actually made me think of the things I do to cope better. I love your channel. Thanks for the great content!
I love these videos. For self reset when stressed, I tend to drop everything And waste my time that I freed up doing nothing. I end up feeling worse and in a hole of more stress. I definitely am going to try this!
I'm so glad you're blessing the people with intel on brown noise. White noise is so harsh, I found out about brown noise when I was on a trip with a friend who chronically snores. My white noise app had other frequency options and I was blown away! This video is so important and genuinely helpful.
Thank you. Someone needed to tell me this today. My university is making us leave our dorms, and take online courses for the rest of the semester, and as a senior, that was pretty stressful. So I'm trying to pack all my stuff, and your video reminded to breathe.
omg thank you for putting me on, Girl!!! this Brown noise is FOR MEEEEEE!! YASSSS! Its giving me...international night flight Airplane vibes, the "deep brown noise loop(no fade)" in particular. highly recommend!
I'm an avid hiker and intermediate nature photographer which literally saved my life!! I feel deprived when I can't get outside on the hiking trails. Nature has so many health benefits!! #blackwomenhike #BlackPeopleHike #natureheals 💜
Girl this video is filled with Gems 💎!!! That brown noise is the Truth! So relaxing but allows you to focus- Genius! Love you Sis! Keep being you and blessing us with your wisdom 🙏🏽♥️
Love this Evelyn! ❤❤❤ I totally hold my breathe too! Then i start breathing heavy out my mouth and my husband looks at me like I'm crazy! Definitely gonna try a sound bath!!! I'm from the south so i love opening the windows at night and listening to the cricket!
I've never laughed so hard and related to someone I've never met, brain cells just gone.....relax the jaw sis....#fustrated 😆. I had to reset my entire life after a heart attack at 30, with 3 stents placed and not related to physical health. I was told it was spontaneous, changed my entire way of thinking. It woke me all the way up and you've played a major role in my new mental/emotional reset since the attack in 2016. You seem like such a dope person and I wish you nothing but the best 🙏🏾
Love this video! Sometimes we just need to acknowledge all that’s going on and that we just can’t go, go, go like a machine. Since we are not a machine, don’t treat your body like one and even machines need service and maintenance. Thanks for drawing attention to selfcare.
I had "brown noise" and "brown note"confused for quite a while. I'm glad I figured out the difference because brown nose is my go-to now when I can't get my thoughts to stop when I need to sleep (or work or eat or shower or breathe or ...) This is a really helpful structure for an overwhelm routine. I'm going to put this on my white board!
I spent most of 2019 feeling AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I couldn't even put it into words but it was a combo of stress/ feeling overwhelmed and not knowing what I was feeling or who to ask for help or what someone could help me with. It's a bit better now that I acknowledged what I feel, 💯% it's the hardest step.
I love how your sponsored content doesn’t feel forced. It makes sense. And I’m always surprised like “oh! This is sponsored!” Btw, these are helpful tips. When I feel overwhelmed, I just shut down and take a nap.
I actually have a reset routine for myself at work - I am actually okay at home!!😍 - I work at a restaurant so I tidy up anyway but on my break I do go outside (weather permitting) and read a book instead of staying inside. I do the breathing for 10 seconds too and just go from there until I am done my shift!
Seriously an answer to prayer, newly diagnosed but dealing 24/7 for life. Age 44 basically learning and teaching myself skills and your like a life coach with a template and I am so stoked!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing especially the part about asking for help. ❤️ verbbbbb
🧨 I think this is the closest I could find to that POW😔 becoming aware of the way my body reacts when I feel a type of way and then releasing and relaxing has been very helpful for me. I love all that you mentioned especially rain sounds and ASMR videos. Internet cousin your skin looks amazing and I love your eye shadow 💙💙💙
Also binaural beats might help to relax. ("A binaural beat is an auditory illusion perceived when two different pure-tone sine waves, both with frequencies lower than 1500 Hz, with less than a 40 Hz difference between them, are presented to a listener dichotically (one through each ear)." I'm the rain listener. I'm also exercising consistently, so that helps. Watching South African gospel and cooking videos or hair tutorials on TH-cam are calming. Ok...I need a new routine because these might be contributing to my procrastinatory ways. 😳
Evelyn I hold my breath too. I really thought I was just a nut and no one else did that shit. Knowing that I'm not the only one killing my brain cells stopping my oxygen makes me feel so much better
I sleep with a fan on every night. Every Night. It helps to relax me so that I can sleep. But the best are when I use TH-cam to put on rain or a thunderstorm on a dark screen on my tv and the phone. Deepest sleeps.😴 Side note: Hellofresh is amazing. That Bimbimbap meal is sooooo good!!!
Just wanted to add that isochronic tones might help too ("Isochronic tones are regular beats of a single tone that are used alongside monaural beats and binaural beats in the process called brainwave entrainment. At its simplest level, an isochronic tone is a tone that is being turned on and off rapidly. They create sharp, distinctive pulses of sound. " - Per WIkipedia)
Wow, cousin!!! This video is soooo helpful. I hold my breath all of the time. I've done it for years and didn't realize it until my husband pointed it out to me one day. I also clinch my jaw and this has caused me to have TMJ (started grinding my teeth in my sleep).
Appreciated this. I had been away for a week so I woke up and did the tidying which turned into a full on cleaning the apartment and doing laundry for the first 3hrs of the day. It's what my soul needed apparently 😆😁
Loving the consistency..... Imma have to try out your reset routine and then tweak to fit my life. I don't know why I've never thought of this... I usually just sit and stew in overwhelming moods. Not healthy...But we working on it! I also have a Sound Bath playlist. Amen somebody.

Dead ass you played the Sound Bath clips and even with you talking over them I was like "where did the worries of today go?!?!"

Mine used to be sleep until I had a baby..... I'm looking for a new one. Reset routine not baby lol

The struggle is real. I have a 3 yr old with endless energy. I think TV will be our together reset.
That work from home mood is so real. All hail a walk around the block.

💥I don't even realize i was clenching my jaw until 2 days later, wondering why my face hurts so much.
Janeen Council I completely misaligned my jaw from clenching. Took me a full to day to fix my “bite”

This video couldn’t have come during a better time😭😭
Who else can make a sponsored video and it still resonates, gives great advice at the right time, just overall HITS! Only Evelyn 💞

💥💥💥 All day, everyday. When I’m awake, when I’m sleeping, when I’m stressed, all the time.
Edit: “Seasoning is a verb.” Words to live by.
👏🏾👏🏾 for this free therapy session
That overwhelmed angle is so it🤣😂💥
I love these videos. For self reset when stressed, I tend to drop everything And waste my time that I freed up doing nothing. I end up feeling worse and in a hole of more stress. I definitely am going to try this!
Girl, yes! All of these things. Great tips. Sometimes I need to cry. Sometimes I need a soak in some hot water. Sometimes a good stretching session.
I'm so glad you're blessing the people with intel on brown noise. White noise is so harsh, I found out about brown noise when I was on a trip with a friend who chronically snores. My white noise app had other frequency options and I was blown away! This video is so important and genuinely helpful.

I only found this when my brown noise/rain app switched from free to $, and i realized I WAS MISSING OUT ON SO MUCH NOISE
Thank you. Someone needed to tell me this today. My university is making us leave our dorms, and take online courses for the rest of the semester, and as a senior, that was pretty stressful. So I'm trying to pack all my stuff, and your video reminded to breathe.

That 20 min tidy is so important for me. If my house is a mess, my life is a mess.
Evelyn!!!!!! Your makeup is EVERYTHING! Love the lipgloss and the Smokey eye. YESSS
I clean when I’m stressed also. This was helpful. I definitely need to get a reset routine.

Adding this routine to my bullet journal immediately. Your recent content has really been nourishing my frustrated freelancer soul.
I'm not ready for these constant uploads!

💥💥💥 Bruh, why do your videos always give me what I need right when I need it?
C O N S I S T E N C Y!!!! Sing it to the beat!!!! Go cousin!
5:03 when the wavelength is different the frequency is also different! The higher the wavelength of a sound is, the lower the frequency. :)
You might be the wisest person I’ve found on the internet 🧡
Me coming back to this video in those moments of feeling overwhelmed.
My reset routine includes exercise: running, biking or just a quick 15 minute walk is enough to get things straight!
Ms. Evelyn, I can't tell you how much this helps me today. This video came RIGHT ON TIME. Thank you.
I love how your sponsored content doesn’t feel forced. It makes sense. And I’m always surprised like “oh! This is sponsored!” Btw, these are helpful tips. When I feel overwhelmed, I just shut down and take a nap.
"If it's good enough for Tibetan monks..." I've been saying that for 22 years. Like, for real real.
I actually have a reset routine for myself at work - I am actually okay at home!!😍 - I work at a restaurant so I tidy up anyway but on my break I do go outside (weather permitting) and read a book instead of staying inside. "The sound en-vey-lopes you" 😂. I discovered it at yoga and listen to them from time to time...very relaxing.
The fill in the blanks helped me so much You're such a gift Evelyn, I laughed so much at the hello atmosphere hello bugs 😂
Your spon integrations are so good! Fit in seamlessly! And entertaining!
THIS IS AWESOME. THANK YOU. YOU ARE SO GREAT.
Very helpful! Thank you ♥️
Also binaural beats might help to relax. After watching ratchet tv I love tuning in to my good internet cousin Evelyn and finding my Center once again 🙏🏾
just this week i was thinking about how i do not know how to soothe myself, so this vídeo came at the exact right time i’m trying to come up with a routine to relax, to give me the chance that i can restart, instead of letting anxiety take over.
.my cat’s purr works as sound baths too, i highly recommend 😂
You have changed my life with Brown Noise 🙌🏾
It is a crime that I cannot subscribe over and over again to your channel or have multiple likes. Thank you. Always on time cuz.
I watched this in the middle of a breakdown. I couldn't stop crying. Bht by the end of it, it calmed me down. This was perfect. Thank you. ❤
I'm the rain listener. I'm also exercising consistently, so that helps. Watching South African gospel and cooking videos or hair tutorials on TH-cam are calming. Ok...I need a new routine because these might be contributing to my procrastinatory ways. 😳
Your videos ALWAYS make me feel better. One of THE best channels on this Tube. Thank you be being you.
Evelyn I hold my breath too. I really thought I was just a nut and no one else did that shit. Knowing that I'm not the only one killing my brain cells stopping my oxygen makes me feel so much better
This video’s thumbnail is one of the best I’ve seen and I NEEDED this video, thank you as always for the entertaining and encouraging content!!❤
💥💥💥 Just realized that I was having TMJ issues while watching. Very helpful.
I sleep with a fan on every night. Every Night. It helps to relax me so that I can sleep. But the best are when I use TH-cam to put on rain or a thunderstorm on a dark screen on my tv and the phone. Deepest sleeps.😴
Side note: Hellofresh is amazing. That Bimbimbap meal is sooooo good!!!
TMJ club 💥
This video helped me reset.
You’re incredible.
My TH-cam algorithm randomly showed me one of your videos and you are freakin’ HILARIOUS. Love your videos!
Just wanted to add that isochronic tones might help too ("Isochronic tones are regular beats of a single tone that are used alongside monaural beats and binaural beats in the process called brainwave entrainment.
💥💥💥💥 Cause you're speaking my truth right now.. Holding breath, clenched jaw all the damn time..
Loving the consistency..... Imma have to try out your reset routine and then tweak to fit my life. I don't know why I've never thought of this... I usually just sit and stew in overwhelming moods. Not healthy...But we working on it! I also have a Sound Bath playlist. Amen somebody.
I need a "Evelyn" in my life.😭😭
Thank you
Just recently started watching you and have quickly become codependent 😆 💚🌙💚
Thank you! That brown noise instantly relaxed me!
