Absolutely fantastic, little old NZ has some really good P&D's, you just don't realise how many bands we have until championships come around. Not bad for a small population. Well done enjoyed your vid👍👍👍
Yo soy latina pero el ver ese vídeo me arruga el corazón de física felicidad. El segundo grupo de gaiteros y tamborileros tiene un caballero que parece papá Noel. Muchas gracias por subir este video y compartirlo. Mucha Gracias.
Isn't it amazing everyone in the World feels a bit of pride listening to the Pipes and Drums. They are a rallying call. You can take a SCOTSMAN out of SCOTLAND but you will NEVER take SCOTLAND out of a SCOTSMAN.
Greetings from Gainesville, Florida ! Hurricane Michael is to the west and north of us - hit Panama Beach area about 155 mph and moving inland fairly fast. Sounds like homes may be lost. We're fine, some rain, occasional high gusts. I LOVE your bagpipe Championship , it stirs my heart and such a wonderful distraction from Trump ! Best wishes, New Zealanders !
Sanford, Florida. Only 2 years after the contest! It’s never too late to discover one’s heritage. I have subscribed now so I can be notified of future videos. Loved it all!!! Thanks!!!
I want to thank you very much for your broadcasts. I watch and listen even during work, and they help me go through extremely pleasant days here in Brazil. Congratulations on your work and know that makes many lovers of this culture, music and actions happy.
Nothing like this music gives one pride in ones land , wherever it is New Zealand , Canada, Australia, Scotland.and other Countries that love the Pipe Bands.
+Steve9312028 And why not ? ... there's only about 30 million Americans of Scottish lineage, another 20-30 million with Irish Lineage, plus nearly as many with Welsh and English lineage. That minimally makes up about 40% of the American population or +300 million.

Tim, thanks for the mid-parade introduction of the event. I found this a few years after the fact but am enjoying it in Minnesota (United States). When this video is done, I'll look to see if you have another one for the Grade 1 and Grade 2 bands.

Bonjours à vous tous et c'est magnifique et sublime la parade du Bagade de Lenbiway merci beaucoup à vous cordialement votre clémence Smet Hallyday la fille de Johnny Hallyday.
Pipe and drums are fabulous the parade is wonderful I remember as a kid in 1956 the bands could not play in baxter park dundee the rain came on the drums were pig skin no use in rain much to my disappointment how things have moved on.💙💜💙💜
Yes I think there are more Pipe Bands in New Zealand than in Bonnie Scotland . I do know that a few years back, that the City of Wellington Pipe Band in NZ , was the world champions , three or more years in a row . Aye , we are more than extremely proud of them still .
That's because we're gangsters. This movie scene is a true story, Canada's finest highlander brigade was supposed to drive to the American army base but they marched 3 miles playing. th-cam.com/video/Jj9STmoRkeA/w-d-xo.html
Custom, inheritance, and reason for pride. That is what gives life to a people. Who forgets these things, is dead. Scotland and bagpipes, Scotland and Whiskey.
Stuart, this is the beginning of the street march, going into the first wheel. This then continues down the street into another wheel. Where the band comes to a halt.
The Funny walk as you call it is a left wheel where the Drum Major informs the band to wheel from the left. i.e. the right hand side have to march twice as fast as the left, who may have to mark time to turn the corner.
Your just soldiers. Our youth fight. Make you easy targets for us. Play the fife, or be forgotten. The pipes mean nothing. We still mrch with you, sure, We;re allies after all. Pipe away, if can't hear the drums....
Thank U so much my lovely s this is Natalie Elizabeth Prokop 132 Julian Rd Mac Donald Park omg I didn't know I'm just listening to yr song now far out man I'm disappointed with all this crap and I've had enough of all of them don't like none of those tractor bastards
So, can anyone tell me why the old steward (or whatever role he is filling) at 1:29:30, feels entitled to put his hand on the bottom of the Drum Major. If you should replay this, old man, then take note: Do not handle a young woman in a professional capacity in a manner that you would not do if she had a beard like the Black Douglas and a couple of d'oeuvres in her sporran.
malcolm hogan, Don't kid yourself. A moment later he puts his hands on her hips so she turns around. The problem here is that the older MALE has been conditioned to think that this is an OK way to behave with a FEMALE. The woman is getting FEMALE attention, instead of DRUM MAJOR attention. In other words, she is being treated less professionally than any of the men. This is purely on the grounds of her gender. It doesn't matter whether the hand in question is ON her bottom or simply very close to it. The degree might differ, but the gender-biased behaviour is the same. The only excuse for the familiarity is that there is a REAL familiarity, e.g. she is his grand-daughter which would justify him treating her in a more relational rather than professional manner. .
And you know that she is not family do you? WELL shut the F*** up and enjoy the music. 140 minutes of music and you found a 5 second clip YOU found insulting to the Drum Major. Get a life. Many a man/woman in a close knit group like a Pipe Band hug each other. Just watch the celebrations after the World Pipe Band Championships winner is announced.
Kiwis are tactile people, didn't look inappropriate to me, or maybe I should go to spec savers. Lady just enjoy the vid, why is there always, one PC person on these channels who try and bum other watchers out. Get a hobby!!!

140 minutes of ear heaven!
Some of the Drum Majors signal the left turn by pointing the thin end of their batons in one direction and other Drum Majors signal by pointing in the other direction.
All the drum majors need a kick up the arse. As for the prancing horse impression when turning, where has that come from, certainly not from Scotland.

Your Band looked and sounded great Emmett!
salutations depuis la suisse
when is the next time?
Why do some lift their knees while going around the corner? But I see the more advanced bands not doing this. Is it a regional variation?
Watching: 2021, TX!!! I really enjoy bagpipes!!
Thank you! I enjoyed it.

So many bands! It's as though Scotland was transplanted to New Zealand. Perhaps it was.

Yes indeed. I'm from Glasgow and was a piper in the HLI(Highland Light Infantry). Looking at this, it took me a while to get my bearings.

Attaboy, the real world forgot about it... carry on nicely, go for a smoke
Beautiful

Hammers Hamilton at Nelson, lol the city of sunshine.
What is the funny Walk Stamp Around the Left Bend of The Road ?........ Not part of the Drum Majors Manuel......... or Drill !

I think the point is being made that the “strut” is not in any drill manual and looks utterly bizarre to those of us here in Scotland.
Drum Major at 1:02:10 aligns ranks and files!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why no Maori ?
Я люблю вас англичане
Could be right John never thought of that good point.
♥♥♥♥♥
I surprised that no one doing Scotland the brave
Drason @ 2:14:45 You can hear Scotland The Brave played by the Mass Pipes and Drums.
Your all carrying the bass drum to high, well most of the bands is there a reason for that ?
Looks a normal height to me.
great! 2019
It was ok until you messed with your sound about 3 quarters the way through other than that excellent.
Hi Jim
I don't think he was messing with the sound, sounds more like water in the system to me
Maybe I'll do better next time, Jim!
Send all that rain West. :D
Ça vaut pas le festival interceltique de Lorient en France! 😅
ik snap niet ja dat als piper bands ja zo nat van de regen ja nog muziek kunnen maken ja dan moet je hart voor ja hobby hebben ja
👍
The drums sound wet! :P
