    I just (about a week ago) put into terra cotta pots 5 rooted cuttings I bought off of a vendor on Etsy. I waited about 2 days and gave them direct sun for about 4 hours, then today I blasted them with about 6 hours. I felt I needed to aclimate them since they had been out of sunlight altogether for a few days during shipping. One concern I had was that the leaves on practically all of them turned yellow and dropped off! I read or heard on another TH-cam video that this was to be expected. I looked at the bare limbs today and already I see the beginnings of new buds of leaves forming. So they're on the way! I've treated these babies strictly on advice I've gotten through channels like yours. Thanks for sharing. 🪴

    I came to your channel a few weeks ago only to learn how to make concrete planters. However, you have made me obsessed with these gorgeous plants. I can usually manage to kill plastic plants, but I am going to try growing my own desert roses because your videos have inspired me so much. I have a dozen beautiful, tiny desert rose plants to put into pots now, and I can’t wait to watch them grow! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone! ✌🏼💜🛼

      Let me jump in and give a "reply". The greatest killer of potted plants is probably OVERWATERING. Even seasoned gardeners can be guilty. In this case, LESS is better. Being indigenous to the desert, these type plants will rot out easily and die from overwatering. Use a wall calendar to write in on the days you watered. It's an old "crutch" I've always used and it works for me. 😉

      I agree and also have recently become obsessed with these gorgeous plants as well, lol. This guy has so much knowledge about these plants, and I’m grateful for people like him who shares his knowledge of these wonderful plants. I can’t wait until all mine root and start to grow and bloom! I have 3 so far, but I want at least a dozen or more of them. I’m going to do some bonsai, some regular in pots and some I plan to put in the ground all over my property! These plants are very forgiving and pretty simple if done correctly, that even a newbie can have success with them.

    Hello, thank you for the excellent video, very informative, and helpful, and I just wondering how soon you watering plant after you report it, and how often it's required to water,, and there is another thing, I ve been meaning to ask you, I both my plant a month ago and didn't repot it, yet it was flowering but the flowers finished blossom pretty quickly I was watering very little 2 or 3 time since I bought it but didn't give it too much water also plant had a sunny position,, and now it stays indoor, we have cold nights +8, could you tell me please it's something I am doing wrong?? Wish you all the best, you are great and inspiring teacher,,Many thanks,, Marina( Brisbane Australia)

      Watering depends on where you live. In Florida, I do it every other day. Just keep the soil little moist (just between dry and damp) at all time, but no wet. Most of my flowers last about 8-10 days in perfect temperature, about 75 to 85 F degree under partial sun light. In cooler temperature, it last about 5 days. If the soil is too much damp, flowers will last just in a couple days. Even you keep the soil in perfect condition, desert rose need a lot of sunlight in warm weather too. Best regards

    Can I replant my plant now? I live in Texas and it is in the house. It had been actively growing because I was still watering it but someone told me to stop because it should be in its dormate cycle. I’d like to replant it and cut the branches that grew out. My plant is still very small so I think it needs a more shallow pot.

      If kept warm you can water about every 4 days. If kept below 65 water lightly about once a week. Once spring gets going you can water every couple days. Once they get going they will tell you when to water when stems droop.

    • @garybrauckman5299
      @garybrauckman5299 ปีที่แล้ว

      I trim mine right after valentine day and cap the cut with cinnamon mixed with water proof glue. Once you know it will stay warm and new leaves are visible then the plant is in grow mode and that’s when I repot and raise the plant.

    Do desert rose create seeds? Or do I have to buy them?

    • @firstnamelastname-im5iz
      @firstnamelastname-im5iz ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they create their own seeds. One of mine produced a seed pod about 8 inches long. After several months the plant was ready to release the seeds and one morning I found it had opened up. The wind blew some seeds away but most were still attached to the pod. I harvested about 60 seeds. I planted 8 directly into soil and kept it damp. Within 13-15 days all of the seeds germinated and now are growing well. I am saving the seeds and will give most of them to anyone who wants them but I live in Thailand so that may be difficult for many people. I can't mail them to other countries because that would violate the law.
