I have the same boots for about 2.5 years before the cushion (heel) in particular seemed to be much harder. The soles did not look worn out so I removed the insoles and replaced them with a very nice coppertone insert for about $7 a pair. Problem solved. You may want to try it on your boots. Really like your channel!
I'm happy with my Captain's. I'm not a massive fan of the two-tone leather on the Thursday Duke, I think the design needs a tweak to look as good as their other boots, but that's just me. But that suede looks great after two years in the winter.
I moved from Southern California to Northern Japan back in 2013 and discovered chealsea boots a couple of years ago. The winters are cold and wet and due to Japanese custom I'm constantly having to take my shoes on and off. Chealsea boots are the perfect solution. But I've never spent more than about $70 on foot ware in my life. So the last two years I basically went through a pair of cheap chealsea's each season. Finally decided that's not really practical, especially since it's almost impossible to find size 13 shoes over here. All that to say I ordered a pair of Thursday Boots chealsea's in dark brown and some Saphir polish to keep them in good condition. Hoping I get some longterm use out of them.
I've got 3 pairs of their shoes so far. The 2nd pair of chukkas I picked up off Amazon (my mistake) and it came in the original box but packaged in a plastic mail bag. When I received the boots, the box was beat and the shoes had some scuffing (fixed with Sapphir creme polish). After I posted a small rant on Amazon I received an email the same day from CSR from Thursday apologizing and offering me my choice of shoe care item shipped to me at no charge. I was highly impressed and let her know which I wanted and that I would be ordering a pair of their new wingtip boots shortly. Both came well packaged together and the new wingtips are outstanding! The leather is much nicer quality and the burnishing (dark oak) is beautiful. They are really stepping up their game for a company that's not even 10 years old. I think they are in friendly competition with Taft but are doing it better from the value standpoint. Those oxfords look good for their age, you must give them some polish because the color is nice and rich. I'll be picking some up later but since it's finally getting cooler here in Atl, my next ones will be some suede chukkas. As always, appreciate the work you do for us and the time you put in. Looking forward to learning about something new in the next video
I have two pairs of Thursday boots. Black Presidents & Brown Chukkas. The rubber on the sole of the chukkas on the toe broke & became floppy after 3 months. Luckily, we have an amazing cobbler in town. I had him put leather soles on them, since I wear them as dress boots anyway. They are very comfortable & just keep looking better, but the quality isn't as good as the Presidents. The presidents are my go-to boot & they are amazing. I guess that's the extra $60 you pay. All in all, I love my Thursday boots! 100% recommended!
I have a 3yo pair of the Captains, that I wear pretty rough, which need new rubber heel tops finally. Besides my AE Liverpools, these are by far my favorite footwear. I also have a pair of the chukkas (scouts, I think) in midnight suede that I haven't worn in ages. This video reinvigorated my desire to wear those boots. Thanks and keep it up!
Love my Thursday boots. Haven't hit the 2 year "drop", but will pay attention as they age. Even so, that's not a bad lifespan if you're wearing they heavily.
I bought a pair of the oxfords in August 2018, and another pair in December 2018. Maybe i'm crazy but i've noticed the leather on the August pair is vastly inferior to the December model, it shows significantly more wear and tear and i've worn both pairs about the same amount of time (started a job in January and began alternating between the two)
I have both Allen Edmonds and Thursday Boots. I would say your review is spot on. I personally believe the Allen Edmonds is better made but you can't go wrong with the Thursday Boots. I am totally happy with both brands. I love to shine my shoes to a high shine and I think the Allen Edmonds are made with better quality leather. With that said, I get as many compliments with my Thursday Boots as my AE.

I would say after a year or more of having both boots, I would say the Allen Edmonds are more comfortable and I wear them a lot more than the Thursday boots. My experience with Goodyear welted, Blake etc. shoes is, that if you go below a certain price point the shoes may still be Goodyear welted but the companies are saving in other areas of the shoe. Either accuracy of the stitching, thread quality, cheaper eyelets, lower quality leather outsole, not a proper leather heel etc. Whenever I checked out a brand that claims to offer the same quality shoes for a lower price because they cut out the middleman or do direct sales etc., I never found this to be true. I would therefore say, it is better to buy some good cemented shoes instead of a lower quality Blake, Blake-rapid or Goodyear welted shoe. I don't own any Thursday Boot shoe and can't talk about them but from my general experience this is what I would say.

The issues with Thursday Boot addressed in the Kavaliers video, lower quality leather, inferior comfort after two years of wear etc. correlates with my experience with lower priced Goodyear welted, Blake-rapid and Blake constructed shoes. When Thursday Boot advertises on the website with a catch phrase "Handcrafted with Integrity Made with the Highest Quality Materials" the Kavalier should not have the issues that he has.

Nice review man, as always. I own Thursday's natural chromexcel Captain and Lincoln. Actually those are 2 of only 3 shoes that I bought from a retailer (I own 5 pairs of AEs, all bought off of ebay). The Captains, after a few wears seem a bit off on my left foot. I think the arch support gave up on me, not sure though. The Lincoln is still going strong after two years of wear (mostly worn during the summer).
From what I can see in this video, the outsoles from the Chelsea boots are still in quite a good shape. If the video portrays is correctly, I am surprised that a replacement of the cork filler and therefore a replacement of outsole is already necessary to regain comfort. Dependent on how much they charge for the replacement, getting more expensive shoes could pay off longterm.
The Kavalier I think in a recent Trenton&Heath video they opened a TBC boot and found the cork to be quite thin? Probably the synthetic cushioning material they also used had collapsed sooner than ideal.

Does Thursday offer a program to re-sole their boots? I assume a local cobbler would not be able to replicate the cork and poron/EVA sole that comes standard on most of their shoes. The poron is what gives them that cushion that people like so much.

Those are very different styles and constructions. If you want longest term boot you want the Goodyear welt of the Thursday’s vs the style/look of the Clarks

I had problem with the heels of Duke Chelseas: they’re too wide that my heels can swim while my forefeet feels snug. Also, the honey tan color looks much darker in reality than in the picture on their website. The toes are too short such that even though the forefoot area is decently wide, my toes are cramped. Returned.
I can see why you say that, the Dukes are not as sleek as the SLPs. However, remember that not everyone has narrow feet, and so they are a great option for us guys with slightly wider feet especially in the toe box. I actually prefer the less pointy silhouette of my Dukes as they are a casual boot, while my much sleeker AE black Liverpools serve as my dressier chelsea boot.
Of all the shoes I own Thursday’s are the least comfortable. I have four pair and none of them fit right. I just got a pair of shoes from Beckett Simonon and immediately felt the difference. For not much more than Thursday’s there’s a lot better brands out there that offer better fit and materials.

Antonio Palacios same here-I have some new Saint monk straps and the leather creases around the toe bend appear several shades lighter than the rest of the chocolate brown body. I’ve only worn them 3-4 times so it seemed odd.

Great video as always! I don't want to come across as super negative. I have only had one pair.However, I have the Thursday Chealsea boot. In leather. For about 2 years. I would never recommend them to anyone. Even for that price point.The upper did not stand up well enough to ever resole. That's my biggest issue. If the upper is poor quality, who cares if it has a good year welt if you wont want to resole it because the upper looks so bad.I got the drop mentioned after 6 months. Also after about 6 months they were squeaking slightly.Finally the elastic portion looks horrible. After pretty much a few months it started looking ratty. Now, I can get a pair of Allen Edmonds seconds pretty much anytime from there shoebank website. Unless they took it down. It was there about a month ago though. I didnt have to wait any amount of time. Do the factory seconds. Maybe the suade from Thursday is better. However, I can never recommend them. I would avoid them personally.

That’s Goodyear vs Blake Stitch but Taft has nicer leathers. Trade offs for both. Depends on what you want!
