    What are your favourite dead/complete/discontinued and why? Is it easy to check em out in 2022?

      Love your choices. I miss Conquest and WoW TCG myself. I would add Rage CCG. It was a fast paced, brutal game, and it had a great background in White Wolf's Werewolf RPG.

    When I was in college their was a collectible card game called “7th Sea” that I really liked a lot. But it only lasted a few years.

      Funnily enough when I was researching what others on the interwebs were nostalgic about 7th Sea came up a lot....like a lot, so it must have had something going for it, another example of some criminally great games that to varying degrees are still within our grasp if we want em enough.

      We played the roleplaying version a lot here back in Hungary. Unfortunately only the DM's book and the Character's book was translated to Hungarian. Never the TCG.

    I loved (and still love) Overpower. I have thousands of cards, and every card every printed except one (stupid accidental inserts!). We actually pulled it out and played a few games last year, and while it's definitely not the best CCG ever made we still had a ton of fun going back to it.

      This might be at the top of my list of "wished I'd have played", the Marvel IP helps of course but I've heard lots of good things. Glad you got it back to the table recently.

    Fantasy Flights "Warhammer Invasion" LCG is the game I miss, and wish could make a re-appearance under a different IP.

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its funny cause I couldn't really get in to Invasion, granted I only played core set a couple and I just assumed the slightly different take on the 3 lines of defense or whatever they're called would really sing with me but it didn't quite wow me, methinks I need to give it another go cause I really wanted to love it.

    RIP Original Legend of the Five Rings. Spent hundreds of hours playing that game.

      You are an OG L5R player then 😉 so I'm just putting two and two together here, L5R LCG and GoT LCG share a similar three-pronged conflict phase, does that mean that original concept came from L5R CCG? Unfortunately I spent all that era playing Magic so I never played this back in the day.

    • @TheCardboardHerald
      @TheCardboardHerald 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dice vs Cards yeah, I think there is certainly some inspiration there. L5R held on for ages, certainly longer than almost any other adult-themed CCG (not to say there’s anything wrong with Pokemon or YuGiOh). I loved how tactical it was compared to Magic, I loved that dedicated tourney players had clan loyalties, it was great how the fiction was determined by tournament outcomes and of course having 4 different victory conditions was really cool. By the time the FFG release came out I had already been out of L5R for years. Having moved from my home town where there had been a thriving dedicated community I didn’t know if I wanted to dive into an LCG at this point, certainly knowing that my new small town would never be able to support the kind of player base that a niche card game like L5R deserves. Though I still have yet to play the FFG version, I was sad to see that once again a publisher is closing the doors on L5R. The setting and gameplay principals are still great and I hope to see it live on in one form or another. If nothing else, FFG having the license gave us the excellent Battle for Rokugan board game, one of the most fresh classic style area control games to come out in years.

      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm would I have been able to pin my mast to one particular clan I don't know 😀 I'm not really sure why L5R LCG came and went the way it did, its a fantastic game IMHO but it did scratch a similar itch to GoT so I've never deep dived with it that much. Clearly the lore of the world has been given a great deal of love over the years, I'm pretty certain the RPG has had quite a storied existence as well.

      Dice vs Cards I was a Mantis diehard though for fun I would dabble with Dragon clan or occasionally Phoenix or Ratling. All of it was fun, though.

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would have to be in my top 5 wished I’d have played, there’s something eminently nostalgic about battle tech, which reminds me I need to get the hex board game to the table.

      Just picked up Doomtown Reloaded and I'm impressed, its got a hint of sandbox roleplay to it, not sure how much this incarnation of the game has changed since the original but yeah I imagine it was cool.

    Star wars CCG
    Middleearth
    Mythos

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is the 90's CCG market in all its glory 😉 I've got a bunch of Star Wars, even though I don't think I ever played it, just collected and when I came back to my old cards there are just too many good Star Wars games out there at the moment that I've not bothered to try this yet but I feel like the mechanics got a bit more love than Star Trek.
      Middle Earth is one I definitely never played but remember my brother having some, does it have any likeness with Lord of the Rings TCG or any other CCG? I know its a different company but...
      I remember Mythos as me broseph had that as well but never played it, are any of these readily playable online?

    The community create thier own new cycles for print so somehow the game continues

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats a good point I need to check out solo mode, that might be an angle for some content, I suspect more than a few of these have got some unofficial solo variants out there.
      Yeah I've seen those mini fan made sets for the game, I think the more time passes without new licensed content the more a continuing committee can come to the fore.

      I keep thinking there has to be a somewhat simpler way to play Netrunner solo. I don't know if I can get to it but I'll keep thinking about it.

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertthurman9866 Its funny because I played the GoT solo that was recommended above at the weekend and it wasn't bad, really just simulating a priority matrix for your opponents decision making.
      For ANR I think the bluffing element at least for the corp would be exceptionally difficult to solo variant for. But if you tweaked the main goals of the game to make it more of a challenge mode for the runner for example where you automate the populating of servers and rezzing, maybe its doable. But I'll leave that one to you :-)
