When 'Rage' first came out, my favorite review of it read "If MtG can be compared to being a 'fine wine' then Rage can best be thought of as 'raw meat'."

I adored RAGE when it came out. It had a great mechanic and was really fun to play with large groups. I still have a ton of cards. Also man, I can just SMELL those cards as you open those foiled packs.

Heresy: Kingdom Come was an interesting game I picked up with some friends at a con and only played with them there (because it was unavailable anywhere else, it was so obscure). The cards were in the 'tarot' format style, which meant they didn't fit in any sleeves available, and the game was a wierd post-apocalyptic (in the most accurate sense) cyberpunk combined with angels and demons having been cast to earth after some wierd technomagic event caused them to become homeless and God to be 'lost'. If you can get hold of it, that would be very cool to see.

Dude I found a huge box of RAGE cards at my thrift store today for $10. I'm a huge card game/board game nerd so I grabbed em on a whim. I can't wait to learn! The box had like 300 cards in it, including 4 starter decks! Even an unopened booster pack! :) I'm excited. The artwork is fantastic!

Loved Rage, though my personal favorite TCG has been Magi-Nation. If you can look past the cartoony, pseudo-anime art style (an art style that never bothered me), you'd be treated with a tcg with pretty unique mechanics that makes it stand out to this day.

Jyhad! It is similar to this in that it still has a very active fan community and gets reprinted every so often through kickstarter and the like. It also was a great translation of the feel of the Vampire the Masquerade RPG to CCG format.

Please do a video on the Battletech TCG. One cool thing about it was that it came with a bag of small washers to use as counters, to keep with the theme of mechanized warfare.

I still love playing the old Legend of the Five Rings. Every turn matters in that game and it looks more like a good game of chess than a "My dudes vs your dudes" game. Vampire: the Eternal Struggle is also a great CCG, which will soon be resurrected.
Great that you take a look at old, mostly forgotten games. Hope you will try them on your channel too ;)

LOL Rage that takes me back, was this game made by the same people who brought out the Werewolf RPG? That game was fun. Lately I introduced my friends to Deadlands:Doomtown, been playing some sick games ever since; it is amazing how the combat system works so well at ''balancing'' battles with chance or how a player can start a game with no deeds and be fine. I wish MTG could capture that lightning in a bottle feel one gets in Deadlands:Doomtown!
Ironically because of playing MTG I have even more respect for this game and find it simpler to understand than when I first started playing in 1998, although my friends and I have designed some house rules to work around Fear and movement as those mechanics seemed chunky and not very well thought out. I find it amusing that most of my favorite CCG's were made by WOTC: MTG, Deadlands, Battletech:P

My friend and I collected these cards, because they were so awesome. Last year, he bought 2 of these packs you are showing, we have opened them and tried to play for the first time. At the comic shop I used to frequent they had this and Jyhad. I remember the quality, complexity and frustration trying to get full sets.
Pre-wotc tsr had two games that were awesome. Dungeons and Dragons and Dragon Dice which was a more complex game that’s like a cross between lairs dice meets yahtZee.
Cards were thinner than magic and compared to rage thre to four cards equaled the same thickness. There was 4-5 exspansiins one of which was ravenloft and spelljmers.
Dragon Dice was unique where you could play by themselves or with Dnd 2.5

A bit late to this party, but had to say I loved this series. I still own a lot of the cards and plan on teaching my kids to play as soon as I can get to the cards. Sadly in todays world I don't think these cards would make it, they were so unlike magic or anything else in the raw, brutal, unappologetic way the world was shown. Combat cards were brutal, savage and often gory. Other cards depicting half naked women and such. I mean the series wasn't really for kids if you look back but that is what made it stand out at least to me. Unlike magic that gave in to pressure especially from the religious groups, Rage actually went out of its way to say F U to them. Think the card that best encompasses the attitude of the Rage CCG was the Taunt card, a large Werewolf with a bloody bat slung over his shoulder and his other hand raised giving the middle finger.

Back in the 90s my circle of friends played this game. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the game was. However, we were playing Magic, Vampire, Doomtrooper and Shadowfist too. When Netrunner came around we dropped vampire and rage. No reason really. Just what happened. I thought Rage was really a good game. My sons and I are going to be playing the original Netrunner again. Perhaps if they enjoy Netrunner and want to explore ccgs from the 90s more Ill suggest Rage.

I think I still have a couple of Rage promo cards; probably Inquest/Scrye inserts. I did some early promo playing of the Dune ccg; kept the deck provided and ended up selling it 20 years later to a guy trying to finish a set of the promo decks - there was something printed on the cards to differ them from the actual game, which wasn't out yet. Game made about as much sense as Lynch's movie.

I love this game. It was a great group game that forced you to work together while knowing that you could end up fighting each other as the game went on.
I like that other players had to play damage cards for the monsters in the Hunting Grounds that you attacked. Which could make Bluffing really dangerous to do.
Since you are going to Gencon. What are your top events to play in? I've been playing True Dungeon for 10 years and really invested into the game after Warcraft TCG died. I'm also looking forward to MegaGames- "Watch the Skies" RPG.

Solid choices, I have never even heard of the G.I. Joe card game. I would like to add Redemption to the list purely for the fact that it is almost as old as MTG and still exists and despite the heavy religious themes is a interesting game to play. I'd love it also if Jeremy could play a game with someone to see the game in action and maybe even give it a personal seal of Bring it Back or some other catchy phrase, LOL. We need more CCG diversity like back in the 90's, felt like I was tripping on CCG's to try:P

Would love to see a video on VS System, I took a break from magic after fifth dawn and really got into that game, was superior to magic in some ways. And having marvel and dc characters to build decks around was the greatest!

Got into this big time. It was either this or magic the gathering. Seems I chose poorly.

Do battletech next! It’s the best least known card game, who doesn’t like huge robots killing each other for the republic and clans hahahaha
