Best named game ever! A Hecatomb was a massive animal slaughter to the Greek gods, on the order of 100 (Heca) or more. The whole game was basically the Old Gods of the Mythos and other "evil" powers fighting over souls during the fall of humanity. I really hoped WotC would've delved back into those themes more with Innistrad and the Eldrazi.
WizKids did a similar thing after the success of Mage Knight and HeroClix, with HorrorClix. Some of those miniatures were very macabre. I got to play it quite a bit though and it was a really fun game!
The plastic cards remind me of a story telling card game called Gloom. Those cards were plastic and could be laid over each other to show different point totals and effects.
I totally remember seeing that game in an old LGS I used to frequent when I lived in California! I always thought it looked cool - had a very Tim Burtony vibe
If you want to see an example of gameplay and get in a few laughs, check out the episode for it on Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop. That was what convinced me to pick it up.

Hell-evator is all i remember. And the art was cool. Art was so good i feel like Wizards should re-purpose it for magic ya know?
I've been eyeing this game for awhile, it's so weird I'd love to get a collection of it to play with friends on Halloween nights. I remember Team Covenant playing it awhile back. And thanks for the tip I'd only seen boxes on ebay for a lot more than 20 bucks a pop.
Way those starter deck boxes are remind me about Battletech CCG starter boxes and way those boosters packs are remind me about Transformers TCG booster packs.

I think there were only 3 sets that came out. "Blanket of lies" was the last one and seems to be rare to find.
I'd guess like most dead tcgs uts because the final set had a very small print run
