Literally watched hours of your videos and was able to sharpen a knife on a stone so easily from visual memory and I was slow at first but once I got a feel for the angle of my knife as you said i was able to do smoother and quick passes. It took me a while to learn the reverse motion though but man I enjoy this skill, there’s nothing quite like a knife being in its best shape for easy cutting and slicing

It's an amazing feeling when everything "clicks" and the edge "locks in" with the stone.

You do make it look easy. I realize that it takes a long time to build the muscle memory.
    Keep up the good work.

Love your channel. I am a knife enthusiast, but understand little about the different blade materials. Oh I would greatly appreciate you making a video of the different blade materials, and what would be required to sharpen them. Most of my blades are a carbon-based material ie: 1095, But I own blades of different materials. I am utilizing your videos to help me sharpen my current inventory of knives. Thank you greatly.

Sorry to bother you, however I have 2 EDC knives where half the blade is serrated. I do use them at work and they do need to be sharpened. Any recommendations or advice you could offer? It would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you ever found out, it’s called a nagura stone. Some water stones come with it, Shaptons do not but, you can buy them separately

A $10 hardware store stone is all you need. I have shaved after using that stone. When having a "working" knife all you need is a fast sharp knife. Many kitchens use the $7 v sharpener, two three passes and back to work for hours. Your video is neat for those that are looking for a hobby and the fancy sharpening tools are for the elitist wanting to say that their $600 knife that they never use is perfectly symmetric blah blah. I've skinned enough deer and filleted enough fish to know what works in real life. And as for those catfish.. I use to process 300-400lbs a day at a market with a 14" old hickory butcher knife on my hip.

A $10 hardware store stone isn't going to give you a very easy sharpening experience, especially on more wear resistant steels. Pull through "v sharpeners" are the worst of the worst, they don't do much more than mar the entire edge and produce a burr.
Videos like those from Kyle or Alex from Outdoors55 are for people who want high performing, quality edges on their tools. Simple as that. You don't need fancy, expensive sharpening equipment or a $500 knife to fall into that category. A coarse diamond stone, a strop, and a knife you want to take care of is all that's really needed to take an interest.
