I am thinking about recording my bike travels and your video gave the answer to my question whether to get a gopro7 or rx02. I had high hopes for the sony but the focussing seems to be useless for my purpose. Too bad the gopro does not have a dedicated mic jack. Thanks for the comparison!
Yep, they have imaging edge mobile which let's you control the camera remotely from your phone. I've had connectivity issues with some samsung phones, but the Pixel seems to connect perfectly. Just something to be aware of
I want to do a follow up video with that, but all the footage in this one was right off the camera. From what I've read the app downsamples the footage and there's a small crop, so I felt I wanted to do right off camera first then follow up with that in another video to test. Stay tuned
Thx for video! What's better? Judging by the review, GoPro wins.We want to buy a camera for travel and the vlog. Appears rx0 II, folding screen, what else do you need? And in the end, such a disappointment after watching the video. It behaves inadequately. There is no stabilization. GoPro leader again, though without the folding screen...
the RX0II the only option for my use case, underwater gold sniping. The gopro can only maintain sharp focus at 30cm, the sony will manage 20cm, plus produces better quality videos when used correctly. I guess really these cameras are like comparing apples to oranges.
Kyle Pugliese I was thinking the same, but maybe if the lens is stopped down enough it’ll keep a lot in focus. Does it allow any adjustment to like say an F4?
GoPro all the way. RX0 II also hard to do focus. You cant just take out of pocket and start shooting you have to set up your focus all the time so its hard for me to use and too expensive.
I don't need a camera to withstand extreme sports and beig shot out of a cannon. That said I do need a utility action cam that can withstand general field and underwater (scuba) use while traveling and taking both daytime and nighttime (low light market) video. Thus the ability to be submerged (in a case is fine) and the option for a wide field of view is necessary as well as the ability to accept audio in is necessary. I Don't care about a flip screen to watch myself as viewing myself instead of the subject at hand is pretty lame. And as it stands, no camera seems to address this. The GoPro 7 seems ok during the daytime but falls on its face during low light situations. Maybe when Sony gets around to refreshing its x3000....which this could have easily accommodated....but...hey, its Sony - which has become known for being out of touch with the market.
Rx0ii is not action camera,, it is intended as blogging camera Go pro is absolutely win while bicycling and other sports activities and stabilization , but in video quality is better than Rx0ii i
RU Serious? You dont know what you are talking about. The Go pro has chaptering and is INCAPABLE OF Recording without breaking files into 4gb files while the sony can even record one large file of 20 gb without splitting the file.OBVIOUSLY-to a professional-sony is WAY WAY Superior. You are just focusing on immaterial things
It's incredibly easy to marry separate video files in editing software. I don't see why this would be a major issue, sure it's inconvenient. But I'd rather have stable footage that I need to put adjacently on a timeline than have shaky footage. I don't see how that's immaterial
@@KylePugliese The sony outputs as one file because it uses the latest technology.I would never buy a camera that splits footage into bits and thats why i prefer sony over anything else.Last night i biked for 2 hours only to check my go pro and find a bunch of little files broken into 4 gb segments-very annoying.I would pay anything for a single file and thats why i just ordered the RX0 today
Let me know how you like it. I get my osmo action this week to try out but that may do the same file splitting, I'm not sure yet. For my use cases I really don't record long times, just short scenes so it hasn't affected me the same way.
@@KylePugliese when you had the sony-was it splitting the files? ARGHHH.I just ordered the Osmo-if it splits, i return it back.i currently use the sonty FDR AX 33 and it can record for 2hrs 4K without splitting and without heating-SONY is WAY WAY ahead of the game for people who know
GoPro all the way. RX0 II also hard to do focus. You cant just take out of pocket and start shooting you have to set up your focus all the time so its hard for me to use and too expensive.
You dont have to "set up" anything. When you press the shutter/video button it automatically focuses. Nothing extra to do. You have the option for manual focus.
Which of these three would you go with?

Yeah I'd heavily recommend the GoPro for that use case based on my experience.
Thanks so much for this review! Very helpful!
Does the Sony RX0's have an App like the GoPro where is can control the camera's settings and start/stop functions remotely?
Yep, they have imaging edge mobile which let's you control the camera remotely from your phone. I've had connectivity issues with some samsung phones, but the Pixel seems to connect perfectly. Just something to be aware of
@@KylePugliese Thanks, but I use iOS
Ah, then it probably works perfectly haha. I'm pretty sure there's an iOS app too.
I almost bought an RX0 II thinking it can replace the action cams with digicam quality.
I'm going for the OSMO action and RX100 VA
I returned my rx0 II actually. My osmo action gets delivered tomorrow. Great minds think alike haha
Hi! What accessory did you used to handle the camera on your bike?
It's from Sandmarc, gopro bike handle mount
This is one of the best comparison video! Thanks!
Gald you enjoyed it!
Hey Kyle great video just wondering if you ran any of the RX0ii footage through the Imaging Edge Sony software to stabilize the footage ?
I want to do a follow up video with that, but all the footage in this one was right off the camera. From what I've read the app downsamples the footage and there's a small crop, so I felt I wanted to do right off camera first then follow up with that in another video to test. Stay tuned
@@KylePugliese Perfect there are a lot of reviews and only a hand full are talking about the Imaging Edge app so that would be sweet

I'd get the new Osmo Action if I were in your position. I have one coming this week and plan to do a review and comparison. Stay tuned
Nice review mate, hard to replace the GoPro
Thanks brother for your excellent explanation..really helps
neither. I will buy the rx0 ii if they can add AF via firmware update.
the RX0II the only option for my use case, underwater gold sniping. The gopro can only maintain sharp focus at 30cm, the sony will manage 20cm, plus produces better quality videos when used correctly. I guess really these cameras are like comparing apples to oranges.
At the price-point, I can’t see how these can sell
Can we please strap that rx0 II to drone?
I can give it a shot. Thinking the single AF might be tough but I could manual focus maybe, I really wish it has continuous AF.
Kyle Pugliese I was thinking the same, but maybe if the lens is stopped down enough it’ll keep a lot in focus. Does it allow any adjustment to like say an F4?
Only f4 sadly
If you use RX0 II with "Feiyu WG2X 3-Axis Wearable Gimbal" and "Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip",
IQ of RX0 II will be the best of these three.
The wobble filter lets the Sony down!
GoPro all the way. RX0 II also hard to do focus. You cant just take out of pocket and start shooting you have to set up your focus all the time so its hard

got better AF on update for AF on 2.0 -3.0

Hoping this new DJI Action camera solves this as well. I actually returned my RX0 II
too expensive, the gopro still nails it for all round better options and stability
Rx0ii is not action camera,, it is intended as blogging camera

A pesar de ser un buen vídeo, no se puede comparar porque cada una es diferente.
Stability shit I'm a droner..have to have a good gimbal..
I very like this type of video, keep do it, support u

В названии одна камера , по факту другая .

Horrible camera for the price. GoPro 7 is still the King.
SONY RX0II ON MOVE EDIT! #1 ✌️ 👑

Whereas the GoPro doesn't focus at all so nothing is ever truly sharp.
