I slide my bolster flat under plaster board and simply line up board and stand on end of bolster and it will lift spade end upwards closing gap,be gentle and it will help lift board if you cut to much of just put small lever point under handle to help you,

A brilliant and informative series Liam. I have already purchased your build pack and this series answer pretty much all my questions. I do have a couple though. 1. The build pack says to lay down breathable membrane on the floor underneath the flooring. You didn't do that in the series. Any reason? 2. The roof timbers run at an angle to give you the fall which means that the front and rear ends are not perpendicular to the ground. Do you cut them at the required angle to give you a perpendicular facia board? Thanks again. Colin

Great video as always although I like this series more because it is more in line with my future project. With regards with the plasterboards in windows and doors, have you tried to use the saw on the short end for cutting but using the stanley knife to cut the paper back of the board? It is the same procedure as cutting your board to length. In this way, you have less dust to clean up.
A quick question 9 x 4 mt do you need extra strength half way in through the building ? Or would this be ok all the way down on the bigger scale building?

Liam, spot on as always. Just out of interest (I know your not cedar cladding this build), but on a normal cedar clad build, what oil are you using and do you oil regardless of the forecasted weather? I have osmo which I will be waiting until August based on the temperature recommendations!!
I thought I was understanding your stud spacing until this video.. you were leaving 400 gaps to best use insulation and not 400 centres which I got but now when you are putting the plasterboard up your studs are now on 400 centres so I got a bit confused again
It can be a bit mate Here’s the answer Floor = 400 spacing as you get best use out of installation snd 22mm floor boards will span distance Walls, 400 centres as insulation isn’t a big issue, plaster boards are 1200 wide so 0, 400, 800, 1200 centres Roof same as floor , 400 spacing, maximum use of insulation snd only a few plasterboard to cut to make fit, roofing OSB will span 400 spacing

The old Cedar is too rich for my blood so going to go either Siberian Larch (unsorted) or TIGA Rainscreen Thermowood. Hi Liam, another amazing video in this Solo build, it just shows everyone that it is doable (if thats a word 😆) by one or two people on their own without thousands of pounds worth of tools. Hoping to start a self build in the spring with my son helping me as I'm too long in the tooth for a lot of heavy work, I did have a question if thats O.K., can the floor joist "Shoes" be bought ready cut to size and drilled with a 25mm hole as i imagine the Evolution magnetic drill and bits are quite expensive ??. Yes mate, lots just use the washers to support the timber, absolutely fine, but obviously I need to ensure it’ll last so we use the shoes, Bapps for bolts do it all
@@colindoesdiy any local fab shop or smiddy would cut the shoes and drill holes as required for you, wouldn’t take much with proper tooling. Worst case scenario you can buy hole saws for metal and they will cut through although a bit more work than mag base broach bits. 👍

Are the external sides weatherproof (breathable membrane) before you put the cladding up or would you need to cover if it started raining?
the membrane is waterproof, lets moisture pass from inside to out, but not outside in.
