Why the "don't try this at home"? It's prolly even less lethal than normal bike riding
Some guy who doesn't know how to swim makes this goes into the middle of a lake it breaks down and he drowns.
Because they don't want to be held liable if someone does try something like this at home and hurts themselves
Dados Reais I was never taught, I just figured it out after another kid tried to use me as a floaty in a pool.
Because there are no lakes at home
Guest 31190 I know how to swim well enough to save my life.. that's about it, I can only do that for a short while if I was in the middle of a lake I'm pretty sure I would drown.. but with this bike I would break off one of the floats and use it
I'd say it's possible. So far the only problems are the same problems you have when riding a regular bike. The chain, the balance and what not.
it's his first time riding a bike on water so it's kind of obvious that he'd fall
what, no rubber suit? These guys were always looking for an excuse to squeeze into a rubber suit
No....
@1:56 Adam just learned how to speak Chinese XD
Mixey
Mixey ស៌
Sounds more like an crazy jihadist
r/whoosh
Mixey Um, that’s OBVIOUSLY Korean dummy.
I don't see any mention of the inventor here. I believe his name is Li Weiguo. Amphibious bike races are fun, creative diy events organized locally all over the world.
Have to oil that bike everyday to keep it from rusting the gears and chain.
+mindofarock Or they can change materials like go with a belt drive instead of chain.
+mindofarock they make waterproof lubricants
BlankUberEverybody
Meh, I actually have owned several bikes over the last few decades that had zero iron based pieces and were therefore, unable to rust.
you're right.
1:45-2:02 is the most genuine laugh I've ever heard from Jamie
Should have used a 18 speed bike. This would allow different paddle speeds.
or put engine on it
***** How true.
+Don't race me I'm to fast
It's got Adam - should able to produce about half a HP. That should do it, but it could have used a couple more bottles.
R.I.P converse
Shoe's are made almost entire out of plastic-based materials, why "R.I.P"?
Lol
They are fabric and rubber they would go just fine in the washing machine or you could just dry them since it's just pool water
Seems like a fixed gear single speed would be nicer for that.
Kandi Klover You probably wouldn't have to worry about the chain falling off
Kandi Klover or a shaft driven bike
Yh probably
Guess it depends how hard it is to pedal. If you get tired immediately it probably wouldn't be ideal
For more control he could have put fins under the bottles
so mad, I had this idea when I was 6
+The Vile Irish !!! I know the feeling well, I had thought through the problem of towing a water skier by rowing shell back when I was at a school rowing camp in 1980, and Mythbusters harnessed up the boat just the way I had thought to do. About the only difference I would make now is to use a bungee type cord to cushion some of the shock loads caused by the rowing cycle not being smooth and continuous.
shit im just makin it:Ddd its almost ready
+PixelStudioOffigv
The Vile Irish !!! why you lived in pacific ocean then
The Vile Irish !!! Co me
I like the ultra-dramatic ending to keep people watching through 10 minutes of paper towel commercials.
I wanna make one, try it at my local lake!
Did you make one?
Did you make one yet?
No :( to busy with real cars and vehicles...
+Ian Thompson That's boring. You need to make one of these. And make it with an E-Bike so you don't have to pedal.
Yes. Because electricity just loves water.
It's so strange hearing Jamie actually laugh
Shorts and a blazer! Hilarious! Adam and Jamie rock!
why can't I try this at home!?
+Michael Setchell You don't have a pool
@Joseph Stalin
But not inside their home.
I can imagine strapping a kiddie pool to the back and going fishing on it...come some you are thinking that
I remember seeing the bike at the mythbusters exhibition, weirdly cooler irl!
Congratulations you made a paddle boat
Didn't top gear already do this?
I want this... we live right next to a harbor and this would come in handy
1:59 I reckon Jamie's scared of the water 😅
The dramatic music when he falls LOL
Built from anything other that iron would make this so bloody cool! Imagine if the floats could fold down so that you could transport/ride it easily.
They do fold down.
it's called "shuttle bike" it floats and you can carry the kit to ride on water in a backpack
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUTUUUUUUURE
+Weaboo Scrub now we just need to make this bike chrome
Even though I can't swim, that bike looks like a lot of fun!
FINALLY a 1080p mythbuster episode
I'd been on one of these before they actually have commercial versions of these
For the steering cant you put a wheel cover over the spokes in the front so you have more control over water flow
I love the simple design on it,I don't really care if it can go on land, waters just fine(they should make water bikes)
Blacknakers Yeah, it would totally work! Until the first wave comes. :D
Surprise, surprise. People are actually making water bikes. See shuttle bike kit and akwamak
chainless bike would be amazing with this. they make them. gotta try it @discovery
I wonder what that crew member was running so fast for.
Now get a 2 stroke bike kit and Bam you got yourself a motor boat
I never thought I would be watching a man in shorts and the top half of a suit ride an amphibious bike across a pool but the internet does strange things to people...
how is this a myth? of course it'll work.
Filler
neotactical its a myth because people did not know if the original pics was real fake or myth... get it..
There is an over 2000 years formula that can help you calculate if you can float or sink...
It wouldn't work if those gallons where dense
@@erginov They also wanted to test speed and steering and such
I like how they play dramatic music when he falls off into the pool...like OMG WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT??? Chill the fuck out editor, he's fallen into a swimming pool.
*Trained professionals* builds bike with empty water jugs taped to it
if he put something on the front tire to fill the space between the hub and tire it would steer 100x better
Im surprised they didn’t have a ambulance and paramedics on the scene just Incase😂
Someone should make one with a dirt bike. I know it’s already been done in the ocean before but if you stopped moving with that one you’d sink and with this model you wouldn’t, and put wheels into the air jugs so you can just drive up on land and keep driving.
What do you guys do with all this stuff you build? I want that bike
If they used a fat bike, would it float better with bigger wheels?
1:58 I swear that is Seth Rogen laughing in the background
Pit a wood or metal in the front tire that will help with steering
Would it not work better for the steering if the paddles were on the front wheel?
InnocentDoodles the pedals doesn't move the front wheel
I gotta build me one of those.
2:35 RIP Adam - we barely knew ye
I wonder if an amphibious bike is fast enough to use a hydrofoil and fly above the water...
Vincent, good idea! probably would work?
Mathew Thompson I highly doubt it, maybe with a small motor just to get it started.. but to actually get enough speed to gain lift using your legs especially with how heavy the bike is it would be impossible I'm pretty sure.. but once your up you should be able to maintain it having minimal resistance
I know it's been a while. But manta5 hydrofoil is worth a youtube search 😀
Cubans will now make thousands of these to make the trek across to South Florida. As soon as they get to the beach they can take off the water jugs and blend right in with everyone else just riding there bikes on South Beach.
This better not be in California or your getting arrested
try crossing ocen on this
get a kevlar chain (like on the ikea sladda) so it will we waterproof
I wanna go across the ocean in this
You need to put fins on the bottles
I want that bike
why with converse and socks? I bet that goes with the "do not try this at home part"
Lol at the end he definitely intentionally fell
I would personally put more of those bottles floaty thinys on it.
I'm gonna call that a win.
Why was there any doubt of it floating? There were eight 5-gallon carboys being used, water weighs 8.34 pounds per gallon, so according to Archimedes' principle, the vehicle should be able to support up to ~417 pounds without sinking, which is far more than the weight of Adam and the bike.
Because adding like 50% more weight so far above the center of gravity makes it significantly more unstable. He was worried Adam might not be able to balance effectively and fall off, not that he’d sink the bike lol
@@CaptDrake6969Still doesn't seem likely to me, considering how far apart the carboys are from each other. They should easily stabilize the bike, much like a catamaran boat.
This looks like something you should be able to buy
Install one of those 80cc 2 cycle bike kits on this and that would be amamazing
The front wheel shouldn't have spokes, it should just be flat
+Hahodi d
A solid wheel is workable on a land bike, IIRC Olympic bikes have solid (or at least filled in) wheels. The solid wheel would improve steering.
+FawfulDied the bikes that are used inside of a velodrome have filled in wheels because it reduces turbulence and allows drivers behind to follow better. The ones that are used outside do not because of wind.
So it can work as a rudder
Well I mean it's also gotta be good on land, also flat wheels are expensive af
Top gear did this in thailand
Wow..... Excellent...
that looks super fun
Meth busters we're busting some meth
His legs still look shaved haha
My inner 3rd grader is SCREAMING
how the fck does his leg looks so smooth
i build motorized bikes and im dying to do this with a fold out pontoon setup
How do you even get a pool to do this with?
I hope his watch is waterproof
This is why you get a fixie bike
Alright, I’d like to know who the hell that was _running_ right next to the goddarn _pool_ at 2:17.
What that would be good for. Is the Toronto Island annual flooding.
I havent seen this video in so long
They should have put a rudder in front of the front wheel for better turning.
why's he wearing shoes and socks in a pool
So they've made bikes that are amphibious and bikes that can ride on railroad tracks. Now will someone make a bike that can do both?
What? That's fucking lit
Water world meets Turbo kid.
How did it sink??
Reminds me of the boat thing from hl2
Isn't riding a bike in a swimming pool illegal in California?
+Anton Hirschl
a non-amphibious one, perhaps!
Aren't swimming pools illegal in California?
@@FrancisR420 not yet?
I want to make one now!
I built and homemade Hovercraft It worked but last night my dog chewed of the Raft
that chain is too loose or needs a tensioner
Ok I do at me FRIND house
Huh...I wonder if this could be a viable solution to helping people in the aftermath of a hurricane...
awesome project
I NEED THIS
what title you may suggest if we use it for rescue, cleaning and fishing purpose
Would it turn better if you put fins on the bottom of the empty water jugs
It's so sad he actually died at the end of the video.
Megaladon knocked him over
Texas could have used these
put a moped engine on the bike lol
1:56
Paddle bikes exist so it's plausible.
