I missed them alot, there is no way to watch MB again in italian (tried time to time to check). But as getting used to watch and read stuff in english, it's a fair trade for them.

I sure didn't notice any attempts at explaining why the diet coke works the best. So much for science.
They did at one point. Maybe it was a different episode. I remember them testing all different components of the Diet Coke to figure out what causes it.

Why’s the aspect ratio so messed up?
I would guess that they originally shot the show in "widescreen," and then trimmed it down for 4:3 in post to send to any TV networks. Either way, both 4:3 and widescreen are not the same as today's modern 16:9 standard aspect ratios. To make "widescreen" width fit a 16:9, its got to cut the top and bottom out of the frame.

If I swap out to one of my old 19" non-widescreen monitors, it looks fine.
But this video was posted a month ago. They have inexpensive software that can convert these videos. Surely Discovery can afford to fix it.

I thought that if you mixed hydrogen and oxygen, it would produce water.
Requires adding energy. H2 and O2 separated contain more energy than H2O molecules, but it's very common in chemistry that there is an additional activation energy bump to overcome before dropping down to that lower energy state.

This asked the question WHY and WHAT is the reason diet works the best. But didn't answer the questions.
i first seen this an told a friend about it they said i was full of it till they tried it an said they not one were right (mtyhbusters) but it was outright fun one great eppsode in a long line of them in a great show .

The amount of CO2 is different in each soda. Some soda water types actually say, small, medium or large bubbles. It’s a factor of the amount of dissolved CO2 in each liquid. Diet Coke, is actually on the very large bubble size.
Same reason it made me belchy every time I drank it!
Dropping "SWEET&LOW" into a bottle of SELTZER has the same effect.
So what in diet soda is accelerating the reaction?

They used generic terms during the experiments but the voiceover used the terms Diet Coke and Mentos, so clearly they got clearance after their main shoot but before airing. The stuff you mention wouldn't have been worth clearing, especially since they'd already recorded it.
So what about pop rocks?

Reminds me of how in middle school, we had this really fun chemist come by to present every year. He’d do all sorts of things, like how one year he fired a small canon in the gym with a cork as the cannonball (and he chose me as a volunteer).
But anyways, the relevance here is that every year he’d do exactly this, except he’d always do the same joke where he pulls out a pack of mentos before saying “nah, I’m not using that, these are good snacks on the road. We’re using dry ice instead”.
The results were pretty similar to the results the Mythbusters found with salt. The gysers always went nearly to the ceiling of the gym!

OK, CO2 is a vital component. Sugar is not as the diet soda shoots way higher. What is the other vital ingredient? Colorant? Compare diet Sprite with diet Coke. The mystery and the myth remains...
At first I thought the reaction was something chemical, and it would come down to some specific ingredients in diet coke. But the reaction is a physical one, and one theory is that particular make-up of diet coke is most conducive because it has a lower viscosity.
