How to add PS2 CONFIG files to your PS2 games.

Thank you SO MUCH. My favourite game ever, Tales of the Abyss has been unplayable to me on my PS3 (best way for me to play it) due to an absurd glitch in an early game location where the game refuses to progress and you can’t move your character.
Following your instructions, I found a config file (2 of them, 1st didn’t work, 2nd did work) and now the game plays perfectly, meaning I can play my favorite game without having to import saves all over the place.
You are a legend. For people like me who gets very intimidated whenever altering files and such is needed, this is such a huge help. I can’t even put into words how much you improved my day by allowing me to finally enjoy this game again. You rock! :p

Is it different when using HEN and the games are installed as pkg files? I downloaded a couple of config files and they are .ENC

It's done in exactly the same way. It's the name of the game then .config after. Please refer to my other tutorial for how to install PS2 games that you own to the HD using HEN So its the name if the game followed by (.bin.enc.config)

@@timdark9282 I just noticed something too when I went into WebMan. Mine doesn't show the ps2_netmu option. Will that matter? I'm using webMAN MOD v1.47.26 so I'm not sure if it didn't show up because it's older or because I'm using HEN?

@@q.6467 Your system is not backwards compatible so this option is setup automatically in webman, so you don't need to follow this step as it's already setup in the non backwards compatible PS3 consoles

If your console isn't backwards compatible. You don't need to select the ps2_netemu emulator. Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the webman, this can be found at brewoligy.com. Then, download the ps2 configuration package and install this PKG file. Now, with auto config ticked, for games where there is a working configuration file, webman will add this for you. This is a new feature that's come out after this video. I will be doing another video highlighting this

If you don't have a backwards compatible PS3 then this option is already set for you. So simply follow the rest of the tutorial and your be fine

The game itself should be named .ISO and placed in the ps2iso directory the game should not be a pkg, then the config should be done just as illustrated in the video

Its alot easier now with managunz. But i still havnt found a way to adjust the settings i need to change in the config file to make most games run like they’re supposed to. Have you figured this out yet?

You would need to be able to open the configuration file on your PC and make adjustments to the configuration file by changing the values within the file. I'm sure if you head over to PSX place, someone will be able to help

Go to multiman and switch to multiman mode on the mmcm tab. Now go.to retro and find your ISO. Now copy the ISO to your HDD. Multiman will ask if you want to create a PS2 classics file, select yes and multiman will convert the ISO to a bin.enc file

The console I have used is a CECHC03 Backwards Compatible Playstation 3. It works exactly the same way on a A or B revision. On later phat models the option is already set in webman so there is no need to set it up, it's already done for you.

It only works if the game file is in the PS2ISO folder. A package file has the configuration file built in so you can't add or alter it.

That's because you don't have a backwards compatible PS3. This means it will use ps2 netemu by default.

No idea, I have not had that issue. If you download the latest version of the webman, you can install the entire database of configuration files. Now, in webman setup, the page I go to on the video to select the PS2 emulator, you can select auto config. So when you load the iso via webman, it will automatically assign the relevant configuration file.

You can only rename one configuration file at a time, so if you already have a configuration file assigned to that game, and your not happy with it, then you must delete it and then try the next configuration file. You can't have multiple configuration files with the same name. The game won't know which one to select

No, You download the configuration file from the PS2 config data base. Then you rename the config file to "The name of the game" dot 'ENC" or "ISO" which ever format you have it in followed by dot "config"
