Great tutorial! Also is it possible to inject widescreen cheats like you can with OPL on PS2?

Half-Life and Max Payne are known to work fine without custom configs which is why MrMario didn't need to rename his in the examples he showed so I don't blame him for overlooking that detail, but many games won't play well without the config loaded so it's important that you remember to do that step or you're gonna have trouble with your game. There's a lot of misinformation about this topic online when I was looking into it and it took me a lot of trial and error to figure out why my games weren't working even though I had installed the custom config PKG as MrMario describes near the beginning of the video, and it seems like many people (myself included until now) have just been under the presumption that it'll automatically detect the title ID internally and load the config automatically which could not be further from the truth. So just keep that step in consideration if the compatibility list states you need a custom config. I've made a habit of including the title ID in every game I rip now but some games might work better with the default config so don't forget to check that compatibility list.
And one more thing: your mileage may vary on this but if you're experiencing frequent crashes/stalls while trying to load mmCN/MultiMan after installing Webman go into the Webman settings and keep the fan speed at Syscon. This goes-against MrMario's recommendation but about 2/3 of my attempts to load multiman would cause the system to hang, require a hard reboot, and more often than not require a file system scan afterwards which was driving me insane to say the least.

You can also use this method with a PS3 slim that’s capable of running 4.90 Evilnat. As a die hard A01 guy, I must say for having ZERO PS2 chips on my 2501B, the compatibility with PS2 using this emulator is pretty good! 😎👍🏻
@@MrMario2011 that’s exactly what I’m doing, I installed the PS2config PKG and the PS2Classics Placeholder PKG, I’ve only launched games on my 2501B through webman, but I’ve found config files that I didn’t even add for Bully and other games. My guess would be that the PS2config PKG improves the overall quality of whatever you’re emulating with those config files being automatically added from the database, I haven’t heard anyone really mention that so that’s more what I meant with the original comment. Glad to see you answered though, your guide helped me get 4.90 Evilnat running on more than a few consoles by now, I have everything unpacked and streamlined! Quick question though; if I have a download of Evilnat’s PUP file, do I have to keep checking the MD5 or is that file guaranteed safe especially if it’s been used more than once successfully?

Great tutorial. It was very helpful. There is one thing I need help with. I've did exactly what you did from your video but the thing is even though I have good internet it didn't download any cover art for ps2 isos It's just showing the blue disc icon. Is there any way I can fix this?
Mario your videos are amazing, however, I no longer can create the iso within webman/multiman, it only did it for 2 games and now it throws a bunch of errors. Any knowledge if there is a fix for this? Also, on a different question: Can I create ISO's for blue PS2 Discs here too?
great tutorial until 16:34. Then you started going to fast on the most complicated part I got lost real quick and had to rewatch several times. and at 17:20 when you say small thing here and change the name what is it your doing? you go so fast and when you go back to files they are still named with iso?? not sure what you did there.
I'm trying to run Gran Turismo 4, but when I create ISO, an error pops up and doesn't show the ps2 game name it just says ps2 disc. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
Go into multiman go to the multiman settings and change it to standard cfw mode 13:22 then insert your PS2 discs they should now be recognised and can rip the ISO successfully.😊
hey man just wanna say that it works thanks 🙏🏽. i have a question tho if i wanna use saves from ps2 to the games i installed how do i access the memory cards so i can copy the saves to my games. i need help with that please
With cfw PS3 method the PS2 games can use the virtual memory cards which is equivalent to actual PS2 memory cards so for this method you'll need an PS3 memory card adaptor to use your actual PS2 saves from actual memory cards however hen method all PS2 games are basically PS2 classic format in order for them to run this way though they can't use virtual memory cards only the PS2 memory utility which is a different sort of save to the virtual memory cards in other words you'll have to start all games from the beginning on hen method.hope this explains it.n

Ive got webman, but seeing as how i can't even get to the create iso stage it doesnt seem to matter.

I did all the steps and nothing changed, being ive tried to do this before seeing this video. Rather disappointing i must say. Ive tried two different games, one a little rough, and the other spotless almost, and neither one works
doesnt work. i cant create the iso image from my ps2 discs,it just says "error..retrying" everytime. im not able to login into my ps3,unfortunately. thats probably why. edit: i used the apollo save tool and it worked. but how do i save my psp games? it says "insert memory stick duo"
Having the same issue as others - 10:50 at this step the disc shows but it shows as ‘PlayStation 2 Disc’, not the title of the game. When attempting to create the ISO it just errors out. Please help :)
It also seems like Multiman doesn’t boot if you launch the application while the console has a disc in it. Some others in forums also have similes issues.
I'm probably too late here but after trying this myself I think I have a theory on what why this might be happening. PS2 games came out on CD, DVD and Dual layer DVD. I think the larger games are the ones that don't show up in multi man. I might be wrong but maybe that is what is going on.
you need to restart mmCM from the leftmost menu. if the disc doesnt show up, open the tray, restart it, and close it only when inside mmCM. I needed to mess around with it a couple times until it showed the game name
After inserting a PlayStation 2 format disc, I move to mmCM and the console simply freezes up. The screen goes black and stays stuck there. Recommendations? EDIT: Mr.Mario2011, you’ve may find that some users will need to save the settings for Webman and restart their console before jumping into mmCM; this is what was necessary for me to bypass the Operating System crash.
Won't the games still be slower if you have a non backwards compatible ps3? I still have a ps3 slim, and when I tried ps2 need for speed most wanted 2005 the game was laggy.
So i prefer doing the PKG method for organizations sake but, would you be able to just rename the encrypted version to the game name and move it to that directly and use the PS2 classics placeholder to play the games via web man mod? What i mean is like when you’re going through the process of converting to a PkG and the file is turned into a .ISO.BIN.ENC or whatever the format is. Just out of curiosity, I’ll probably still stick to the PKG method though
Followed exactly same steps .my console is super slim ver 4.90 .it first says it is a time limited game .after fixing this .the game boots and takes me back to the main page of ps3.

The same, but if you know how to solve the issue, please write.
I know how to solve the issue. You must connect your PS3 to the wifi, then it will work.
@ Yea I figured out a way through FileZilla w my ip address
Thank you so much! Best step by step instructions I've come across!
Glad it helped!
You can also use this method with a PS3 slim that’s capable of running 4.90 Evilnat. As a die hard A01 guy, I must say for having ZERO PS2 chips on my 2501B, the compatibility with PS2 using this emulator is pretty good! 😎👍🏻
There's no reason to follow this with EVILNAT, just dump the disc then mount it with webMAN MOD.
Great video as always! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant as ever. Do we know if this works with ISO's burnt to DVD-RW?
They can be detected on PS3 CFW with COBRA but I'm unsure if they would be detected with PS3HEN.
Thank you for the informative video! I don't understand the need for having an active PSN account.. which step won't work properly if you dont have one?
You won't be able to play any PS2 titles.
Thank you so much for this. The only thing, is it possible to use cheats? Like via a codebreaker iso? How would one go about switching disks per say? or is there another version of artemis for ps2 games?
Thank you so much! Works perfect.
Glad it helped!
Easy to follow - great Tutorial! Only issue I have is that I have to reinstall multiMAN to my PS3 slim HEN each time after having used it for ripping / encrypting. Any clue? FTP works for like 2 minutes while mmCm hangs...
When I try to install webman, I get a black screen and nothing happens I don't have anything else plugged in on the usb ports. What could cause this issue?
Multiman is constantly crashing my ps3 whenever i try to open it, i have hen enabled
i have the same problem, did you figured out what is the problem maybe? :/ i cant play anything atm :(
Great tutorial.
Showed it all there in the video.
Thanks works 🤩
nice work 🥳🥳
Also how do you take a physical PS2 save file and use it with a PS2 classic game
Do I still need to install "PS2 Classics Emulator" if I already have PS3 fat CECHA01 that already Hardware Compatible to Play PS1 PS2 PS3 Games? I already tried it with Second Sight PS2 game CD and it worked perfectly.
Amazing vid, as usual.
This isn't needed for CFW
So i jailbroke my ps3 i installed multiman i tried putting a ps2 disk and it gave me a black screen do i have to install hen im new to this
Is the Apollo save tool encryption enough or would multiman be better?
This works like a charm, thank you! Is there a way to reduce the fan speed to not be as loud?
Keep that fan loud, PS2 emulation runs hot.
@@MrMario2011 PS3 is a good space heater as well
After installing the full version of webman and making sure Hen is on. At that point when I go to multiman I just get a black screen. Any advice on how to fix this problem?
It worked but only half of the screen is showing up I can't play properly 😭
Thanks so much. my FAT ps3 got the red screen of death and ended up using my super slim model.
I have a question though, Is this method better than creating a PKG file? speaking performance wise
So ive tried 7 discs and none of them read, double-checked compatibility and retried the remaining five, eject and refresh multiple times and it only comes up as playstation 2 disc no matter what i do. Ive got webman, but seeing as how i can't even get to the create iso stage it doesnt seem to matter.
Recheck your steps it worked fine for me
your not the only one it seems to have this issue, as i have the same problem. Sadly my comment will not help you, but at least you know your not alone with that lol.
@@MyCoool57 I'm having the exact same issue
Is there a different process for PS1 and PS3 games or pretty similar?
So i prefer doing the PKG method for organizations sake but, would you be able to just rename the encrypted version to the game name and move it to that directly and use the PS2 classics placeholder to play the games via web man mod? What i mean is like when you’re going through the process of converting to a PkG and the file is turned into a .ISO.BIN.ENC or whatever the format is. Just out of curiosity, I’ll probably still stick to the PKG method though
Two different methods, they don't cross.
Thanks bro it worked!
You're welcome!
Followed exactly same steps .my console is super slim ver 4.90 .it first says it is a time limited game .after fixing this .the game boots and takes me back to the main page of ps3.
When I load the ps2 game into the placeholder it just shows a black screen and reload xbm don’t show up in the web man setup
Do you have a video on pulling PS3 game saves to your PC using Filezilla?
I could have sworn you did but I can't find it anymore.
No, but that sounds like something Project Phoenix Media might have covered back in the day.
I have a question, when I load an ps2 games it takes 10 minutes to boot up. Is there something I need to fix?
Not working for me
Everytime I mount the game(wwe sd here comes the pain) and run classics placeholder, 'tetris' is loaded
Thank you so much bro super helpful, like all your videos. Just one issue I've run into on my ps3, my game loads up but it says "game recognizes there's no ps2 memory card inserted, do you want to play anyway?" So the game(dark angel vampire apocalypse) doesn't see a memory card for some reason. Is there a fix for this?
You have to follow the steps in the video in exact order or else that could happen.
@@MrMario2011 I did every step which is weird. I tried uninstall and reinstalling the ps2 placeholder and the configs and fiddled with the file viewers and recreated MC1 and MC2. It somehow works now but for some reason in my memory card utility on xmb my 2 ps2 memory cards are corrupted data(cant be assigned slots and say they have no data.) However whatever I did in multiman, outside of what your video said, I can now save any of ps2 iso.bin.enc games but ps2 utility cards still say corrupted, but are usable in ps2 placeholder.
thank you mario, you're the best
I'm not, but I appreciate the sentiment.
@@MrMario2011 oh cmon, i literally couldnt do anything to my ps3 until i saw your videos. I learned so much, from filezila to webman and now my console is a powerhouse with hundreds of games. This made me so happy bro, thanks again for all that you do 🤝🙏
No matter what I try webman never works on my ps3 slim or phat either both run 4.90 and hen 3.2.2 do the install with L1 and it never installs properly no idea why run hen afterwards and it says hen 3.2.2 then boot plugins text have been deleted! Update webMAN-MOD from PKG Manager after reboot.
So everything worked great! Thank you for the tutorial. My problem is that it won’t give me an option to save the game/create a new save file. I’m playing mgs3 from a ps2 disc and if I click anything it just resets the main menu. Was wondering how to force it to make that save file? Thanks for the video either way
Delete the apps installed (except multiMAN), delete the associated save with them, then reinstall and follow the instructions exactly.
can you do the same with ps1 games or not ?
Hi, i think this is the best video about that ps2 games playing on ps3! I have only one Problem with the overall PS3 HEN so many times freezed my ps3 with web man and Multiman. I think the web man dont like the multiman, multiman is often freeze because of web man i think, not allways but often ! Have this hole Community any solution for that? I must use HEN momentanly. I have try reinstall, other versions of multi and web man, all dont do the job konstant. I would love the CFW put now i cant do that.
Hi, I have a little problem, because my ps3 doesn't recognize my ps2 disc. IT shows Playstation2 disc, but not the title of the game "Tekken 5". I know my Ps2 disc is working, because I can play this game on my PS2, but it stopped working. Can you help me?
The problem is solved.
You must connect your PS3 to the wifi.🎉🎉
So want to do this ,but just one question. I got lots of music and home vids on mine, are all my vids and tunes all still going to remain in my ps3 after I do this. Thanks n great vid.
This would not involve your media.
Hey man, great video! I have a problem tho. When i loaded up NFSU2, i had lost and regained signal about 2 times and at some point my console restarted and said that i had an error with the code "80028F17". Any fix?
This is not really practical but can you play Namco System 357 on modded ps3 ? System 357 is just stripped down ps3 hardware.
Probably possible, but I don't know about it.
Hi Mr Mario, great video, do you think you could help me out though? I am trying to put other peoples game saves from PS2 games onto my PS3 which can now run the PS2 games. when I put the PS2 saves onto my virtual memory card it accepts them doesn’t say that the data is corrupt or anything but when I load the game game it just doesn’t even see that there’s a game there? Any help would be fantastic please
Thanks ,I’ll try it .
it's better to play ps2 games with the pkg method with standard fan speed or with webman and the fan speed at higher rpm?
The latter
Curious do I need to upgrade my hard drive to to 1tb for that for def jam vennda ps2 .. or I need some games and just stay on MB type games that are under 600 MB & not over 1176 kb version games . Did you upgrade your hard dive when you done this? Am interested..
What model do you have?

I don't have ps2 discs but I have ISO files is there way to transfer them to my ps3 ?
I have the CFW, when i create the ISO from the games, two of them show up in the selection, both saying that its from the HDD. if i delete one, would it be ok? or would it mess up my download
So I have a question can the ISO files created buy multiman be transferred to a USB to use with open PS2 loader
Yeah
My ps3 freezes everytime when i do the step at 14:10
Might be a dumb question but is it possible to play these ps2 games online?
Nah that's a very good question I'd like to know the answer to
Getting an error when installing the PS2 config pkg
I have done everything, but when I insert one of my PS2 discs it just says “PlayStation 2 Disc..” Any idea what I can do to fix this? They work fine on my PS2 console.
Not sure what the issue is if it recognizes?
@@MrMario2011 Yeah.. it will recognize it is a PS2 Disc, but then not actually populate what the game is and will not let me do anything further with it. Almost wondering if it could be a Hardware issue?
Where can i find those arabic edition of RE
yeah I signed up for psn, loaded up the pkg and still get the stupid copyright protection invalid error. 🙄
Signing up doesn't do anything, you need to ACTIVATE the console.
@@MrMario2011 thanks
Hello
Is there finally a method today for playing wipeout pure and pulse on ps3 ?
you don't actually need the same name for the file, the naming is redundant; you just need the extension to end w/ .BIN.ENC
i tried this out w/ midnight club 3 dub edition remix b/c for some reason MM failed to name the disk for me when i inserted it
make sure you include game id in parethesis if you want to patch it ps2 config patches, fixed nfs u2 frame issues
@@sacman111I downloaded the same game but every time I try to boot it up on the placeholder it doesn’t work, any ideas to how to get the game to run ?
This is the 2nd tutorial I've watched for this and it never works for some reason. I follow everything to a T and 1 program won't run or 1 thing just doesn't work the same as it does on screen... I'm really lost at what to do here. I cannot launch the classic's placeholder even after linking a psn account...
Not enough to just link an account, you have to activate on the console as well. If you cannot launch the application, uninstall it, make sure your console is activated, reboot, and try to reinstall.
@@MrMario2011 did it and got it working! I had no idea there was an extra step! Thank so much gamer!
I have a question: I own a PS3 BC fat CECHC (OG model with PS2 chips in it). If I run PS2 games in any other way than inserting the PS2 discs in, will the games run emulated like any other PS3? Or will it know that it's a BC PS3 and use the special PS2 chips in it?
It will be hardware emulation if you mount them through something like webMAN MOD.
lol, i got a cheap ps3 super slim with hen last sunday, perfect timing
