- A soothing, Unboxing review of the ColdSteel: “RECON SCOUT”, Bowie knife in cpm-3V super steel. 5/16” inch thick, cpm3v steel stock. 13” inches overall. 7” inch blade. Knife weight is 14.1 oz. and just over 1 pound with the sheath. It feels very light in the hand. KrayEx, injection molded, rubberized handle. Very grippy. Comes with a Secure-Ex, belt sheath. This Recon Scout knife is the very capable “little brother” to the ColdSteel Trailmaster Bowie knife, which is 2” inches longer but identical in every other way. Full flat grind with a pretty standard, secondary v bevel blade edge. Has a false edge on top that is fairly sharp. 90•degree spine for scraping tender & or a ferrocerium rod. This knife has a full length, stick tang inside the handle that is secured by a brass eyelet pin for a lanyard,… plus the rubber handle is directly molded onto the tang. A very quality knife. Made in Taiwan.

@@JoeDoomsday I'm always in the shadows watching bro
😊
Now that's what I would call a Doomsday steel CPM-3V apocalypse approvaled also combat & battle ready.
👍
It’s pretty awesome. I wouldn’t mind having a second one for my Bug-Out-Bag. I want to get the ColdSteel: SRK in cpm-3v next though.

👍
I see they still haven’t fixed the fit and finish issues compared to the old models. Still a nice knife, but not being hand made they should fix the settings on their machines. At the price they should be perfect. I have a trailmaster in 3v and was slightly disappointed in that too.
Just got mine today. Where the blade meets the ricasso it has been ground way in on one side leaving a 1/4 inch lip damn near. If you look down the blade its grind is horribly lopsided. Really disappointed for the money. Doing a return tomorrow. I caught it on sale for $197 on Amazon (sold by Amazon), but they won’t let me do an exchange only a return. Sucks bc I really like the knife :(
How they prevence that the guard gonna rattle?
How is that guard secured?
And is that handle molded over the tang?
Nice video!
Thanks!
I believe the guard has a small weld holding it in place, plus the rubber handle puts pressure on it to secure it in place also. Yes, the rubberized handle is molded over the full length tang & the brass eyelet also pins it in place. It seems very secure & strong. Thanx for watching & commenting.

Btw..you have a new sub..
@@sergeantdef.3572 , Thanx! I appreciate it.
Always an awesome knife, but I still believe Japan makes a better finish on the blades and I don't like how they have a stainless guard then a brass thong hole, keep the metal the same.
I agree completely. It definitely has some oddities. But, that being said, it is cpm3v steel and it seems like a pretty good knife. I think it is a pretty decent quality blade & worth the money. 👍🏻🔪
