Hi, Native speaker here. Our everyday English does have some "naughty" colorful words that are never supposed to be used in formal situations such as "A'int". We do have a practice of shortening and bridging words together so often we probably sound like we talk so fast. :)

Native Speaker here, I remember in grade school teachers *hated* the word "ain't". Their hatred only made it more popular. I remember a rhyme we used to jokingly say when we were told not to use the word ain't, "Ain't ain't a word, so I ain't gonna say it, ain't you proud of me", the teachers were not proud of us.

Native English speaker here. I don't think a comma is necessary in "I'm afraid" sentences. "Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive." No pause necessary.
I wonder that I've been watching English tutorials like this without English subtitles since a few months ago, which means that My listening is getting perfect. I suggest for those who are dependent on ENG subtitles turn them off and try to understand what she/he says. We can do this guys, ❤️
You are the best English teacher. You taught me so many things. I am from Uzbekistan. But I live in London since August 2021. Being they/them is weird, unusual and odd to me as well. When I came to London I didn't think there will be so many of ‘them’. I was shocked. To be honest I didn't like it at the beginning. But now I am used to it. I have been trying not to be racist or smth like this.
