I usually go to restaurants that are crowded with Thais for quality and value for money but Jonny is in a different league than me when it comes to cuisine.
We don't normally hardly eat at these places unless it's filming a video.

Hilarious... You find the coolest stuff man. The zoo looked really nice, the Instagram place looked really parched, hopefully it will survive. Second hand store from Japan... also cool.. especially the electric horse.
The Japanese store looked interesting. I remember that years ago Japanese second hand clothing stores were all over the place. The Thais would rummage through the clothing and the pockets looking for valuables.
The only thing I noticed was Som in her red dress… what was the video about?

Half dead palm trees, green algae taking over the ponds, one bored customer which I could see and the "business" located down a 300 metre sandy track (which in the monsoon season turns into a mud track). It's amazing the food was even edible as no doubt they do a quick defrost whenever a customer appears.
First restaurant needs a decent flow on the water plus a good filter system plus loads of zeolite powder to clear the water. Once the ambience is improved it may survive but location should be on main road. Hopefully they survive first year.

Every now and again the Japanese shop has a good discount sale,we only live 10 minutes away so often call in on the way to Phetchaburi , there’s a smaller one just 2 minutes passed it on the same side of the road

I've seen that exact kind of instagram restaurant next to a petrol station on a thaï motorway (can't remember where). It was a bit better looking (their water was blue, no algae) and it was packed with people taking pictures. Location was obviously a lot better.

People visit places like that, take a few photos and don't go back. lol. There so many coffee shops opening. As you say, very risky business. The water moats looked green and stagnant though.

The food was honestly fine, they also had a few other tables when we arrived. No problems so far 😀

They should turn the green pond into a lazy river so people can sit on rubber tubes with their drinks or cocktails. And maybe go swimming too, Im sure it will attract a lot more people?
Did Som give up for now her search for employment? I remember maybe a year ago she was going to start a new job but there was a issue with her taking a lunch break…..
Looks like they fired their gardener & pool guy about 6 months ago. 🤣🤣🤣Good concept pop up unique themed places but would need modular construction that can be pulled down quickly and easily. Cabinets look like they come from Nittori Japan.
They should have named their new restaurant /bar, THE SWAMP..!!🤣🤣🤣

This kind of place reminds me of a hang out for a gang boss and his cronies. Out of the way so the coppers can't see what they're doing. Beautiful place but it needs a good marketing game.

😂 looks like who ever opened up that second hand Japanese shop went shopping at HardOff , yes that actually a name of a brand of shops here... HobbyOff and BookOff are the other too. Japanese English is a good laugh... we have a hotel chain here called “Hotel Route Inn” if there was a westerner in that meeting that named that hotel chain he must have walked out of the meeting laughing his head off 😂
It won’t survive due to poor design. They need a waterfall to help move and aerate the water and add a feature for TikTokers and a few fountains. The way it’s designed now it will just get greener and full of mosquitoes. It also needs some giant carp. The palm trees and potential gardens need a water sprinkler system and some soil additives. There also needs to be some activities, so unless they add a lot more cash, it will not fulfill its potential
Pity but as a local living 100 m from new restaurant I was hoping it would be a success BUT it falls short in many areas. What High so Thai is going to drive there BKK benz down a goat track to take photos. Then for tourist is no good as they dont take cash only Scan bank account. Then you order a cocktail at great cost and they give you a food court buzzer so you can go and collect your said cocktail when ready whilst 10 staff stand around. As usual nice idea but bad in detail.

Palm trees might have been recently tranfered, it can take up to a year for the tree to take root.
This place looks great, with huge potential, but how far is it to "civilization" ;)
I wouldn't have used tiles, a wooden floor is much warmer, cozy. Even those wood imitation Bamboo floors would do it.
If they want to kill the green algae, pool chlorine would do it, but better is oxygenated water, safe for human and wildelife.
15 to 20 from town, they better have a great band and open weed policy, it might work.
The vehicles on Thai roads that you see will make you wonder why the tires haven't popped or that the vehicle has not fallen over. I give them as much berth as possible... Somehow I think Som was a tad bit overdresed to be playing with the animals....she should have worn much less.
If you think that the location of the cafe is in the hinterland of Hua Hin, you need to get out and about a bit more! It's around the corner from the end of soi102!
It’s a 15 - 20 min drive from the clock tower like I said in the video. I definitely wouldn’t call that centrally located
@@jonnyasia Nor would I. But nor would I describe it as hinterland. That's the other side of the by-pass. The cafe is within a few minutes drive of several large housing developments. It's right next to Mali, and close to local shops and restaurants.

You should take Som to China Town in Bangkok and see if she likes the Chinese food there, I don't think Thais like Chinese food that much particularly that Stink Tofu the Chinese bbq over charcoal grills. Any visitor to Bangkok will immediately notice the smell which is like burning rubber.

Looks like it is too remote to get a lot of traffic, It doesn't look interesting enough to travel there. if it was visable from a busy Rd I would give it more of a chance.
