I tried other recommendations first before doing this. Thank you. You just saved me a trip to auto engineer. I used a small pocket knife and lubricant. I will keep this and my AAA card handy in my car, just in case it happens again.
(The key could not be inserted into the lock cylinder.) I was able to replace the lock cylinder. I thought I was going to have to drill out the old cylinder because removing it required truing the key to Start. -- First, I removed the plastic winged end piece from the cylinder. Then, I forcibly turned the cylinder to Start with a pair of channel lock pliers. Then I could insert a pin in the hole on top of the cylinder and pull it out.
I was stuck in a parking lot. Kinda freaked out. Watched your video and literally had that exact file in my car. Took 5 seconds. Thank you so much for posting the video
Oh! That awesome though, gotta love "TH-cam University" lol. Glad you found my vid. My vehicle was in my garage. My first thought was, "how the hell am I gonna get it outta here to get a tow?!" haha. Now I always make sure to pull the key out in a deliberate, careful way.
Resolved. I am just Verrry aware when turning the key all the way to the "Off" position before removing the key. Still carry a file with me now though.
Start at 3:54 For my long winded explanation of the problem, lol, to see if your problem is the same. And sorry for the shakes ;)

I tired it on enclave 2010 won’t work
A couple years after making this tip vid, I did have to have the part replaced.
Just happen to me try wiggling steering wheel the while putting in key
Would this work on a 2014 Kia Rio
i do not know. However, being careful, can't hurt to try
I just talk to my car until she listens 😊
Did the problem resolve once you got the key in or did you eventually replace the ignition?
