  • This is the last video in the series and shows off Loch Tarbert on Jura to its best. I made the most of Junes heatwave by camping for a fortnight. Unfortunately since then the weather has been very unsettled then I caught a bug which took me three weeks to shake off so I have hardly been in a boat since.. Hopefully August will be a better month :-d

    My brother-law introduced me to your videos. They are fantastic! I am originally from Ayrshire, but now live in Canada, and likely moving back next year. Will definitely take my boat to these spots for some wild camping. Truly terrific! You deserve to have 2 million subscribers. One of the best channels I have come across!! A Big Hello from Donny to Donny! 😃

    Great stuff Donny, I have a tipi myself & it's very stable in the wind, with good ventilation in the peak too. Keep ahad.

    Hi Donny I am the guy who walked over to you while you where putting your Guppy away last week. Loved the video. I was here in that heat wave while you where travelling. I am not confident enough to do your travelling the furthest I’ve done was circumnavigating the Isle of Kerrera and camped looking over Lismore lighthouse. ( sorry if I
    spelt Lismore wrong lol) loved the narrative and let’s hope what happened to my drone does not happen to yours. I’m still keeping an eye out to see if any Eagles are selling DJI Mini 3 pro on eBay lol. Thanks for sharing and the time you gave me to chat last week.Hope you did not have to much trouble with my Scouse accent. Ray K UK YNWA.

    Well Donny, you have done it again! Bringing back childhood memories of wonderful places on the West coast of Scotland. I well remember navigating Inner Loch Tarbert when I was about 12 years old. Well, my father did the navigating! He loved to explore tricky places and we went all the way to the inner basin, using the leading marks you mentioned, in our 32' motor boat which had a draft of 3'. It was pretty tight going, but good fun too! We turned round and headed back almost immediately, before the tide turned to ebb. You latest video took me back to that day and rekindled my desire to get back there. Incidentally, I took the train to Oban yesterday and we passed Taynuilt...I waved, but I don't expect you saw that!
    I trust you are back to good health now, Donny, and look forward to your next video. I have a big collection of the old Admiralty charts, not the blue and yellow ones, but the black and white engraved ones, which are things of beauty as I'm sure you know. I use them to follow your journeys as they have so much more detail than the modern ones.

    Another exciting video Donny. Try pitching your tent smaller end into the wind, it's worth a go. Also get some delta pegs, they are great if the wind picks up, they get a good strong hold of the ground. I use them all the time in the hills and open areas. Your drone footage and editing is spot on with stunning scenery. Great video. Atb Steve 👍

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wind was from the south and the small end when I set the tent up steve ..its an exposed area and the wind changes direction quite often . Im getting better with the drone..trying not to get too confident with it though :-D

    Enjoyed that series Donny. The west coast of Jura and LochTarbet are quite special. I managed to visit for the first time last year, loved the raised beaches and caves. At least you picked the wet weather to get the ‘bug’. Get fit soon!

    Good work Donny! Although sorry to hear you had a bit of a lurgey but glad you’re on the mend! I see what you mean about the wind issues with the galaxy 300, the front does seem to catch the wind like a sail, and it is a bit “flappy”. Maybe send the video to vango and offer your thoughts? Other than that its a great tent. Keep up the good work 👍

    Brilliant video as usual Donny, wondering how you managed to keep your drone batteries charged on such a long trip? Bet you could do St Kilda if you drove to the outer Hebrides and got a good weather window?

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got a couple of juice 20000mamp (think that the correct term) power banks from argos..they were 20 quid a shot a few months ago. I charge them off the outboard ..then use the power packs to charge the drone batterys at camp. One powerpack will charge 4 drone batteries or 7 mobile phonecharges ..so its a good setup :-D

    What a brilliant series, looking forward to seeing more. Get well soon ! P.s I’ve always wanted to visit St Kilda, is that a trip that would be doable in your inflatable?

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi diveexplore .. some folk have kayaked to St Kilda from the hebrides so it is possible but not a trip I have considered. I did look at one of the tall ship cruises out there from Mallaig .. working as a deckhand etc. I really fancied that but at almost 2k cost ..I though.. I dont mind paying that but would hate to book up then find it cant get there due bad weather ..which I suspect happens a lot. I didnt book and its fully booked now next year too. Im happy enough going round the inner hebrides ..as that is just as challenging in a 4m boat.

      @divexplore55 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@donnywilcox I have thought about a dive charter boat to St Kilda but like your sailing trip it costs an arm and a leg, and also weather dependent. Thanks for your reply!
