I so want to visit Jura. More so after viewing these videos. Land of my ancestors. May I live as long as 180 years.

I used to spend my holidays on Jura (back in the 1970s early 80s) and have very fond memories of the Island and its people.
The first time of visiting I rented a cottage at Lagg owned by a lovely old couple..Mr and Mrs Robert Shaw. Then rented Corran house a couple of times..Corran Sands..oh what bliss!
I spoke to Willie Mc or Macdonald (an Estate manager now I believe) a few months ago via telephone and we had a chat re the passing away of Duncan (Skye boat song) and then about Football. Ted.

The omportant part is allowing these Islands to keep there identity, which means keeping its people and encourage them to stay, the introduction of "White Settlers " wont do that.there is nothing worse than landing on an Island and been met by numerous "Sassenachs" who feel they own the place, they dont ,Scots own them.

Thankfully not everyone has such a narrow racist attitude. Sentiment doesn't pay the bills. You can't stop people leaving to somehow preserve some perfect Gaelic idyll. Fresh blood is often needed to give an injection of young families with new ideas to keep some island societies still functioning. If they happen not to be Scots, so what?

@@nevillemason6791 the difference Neville is fundemental.
its about the feasability of the local young to stay at home and prosper
white settlers already have the money the locals dont.
after all you ARE foreigners you dont belong.
All you types are doing are buying up and diluting the indigenious people.
      just go home .

This was my experience of the Hebrides. English weirdos move there mainly because they hate other humans and want to live in isolation. They have more money than the locals, so they buy up the land and property. They have no interest in Hebridean culture or history. At least the English guy at the shop seemed pleasant, most of the English I met were anti-social and rude.

The island itself is only 196 people, so thats still pretty significant along with the money the distillery brings in and the local businesses boosted from tourism.
