2023 Giant Reign Advanced Pro 1 - Redesigned. More Travel. Adjustability. Great Specs. Awesome Again

The Giant Reign has been around since 2005. At the beginning it was an anomaly for a couple reasons: it was one of the first 6" travel bikes that actually pedalled relatively efficiently (there was a lot of junk being marketed back then) and the "long travel" category of trail bike was basically new. Those days still had 26" wheels and triple front chainrings (and no dropper posts).
Fast forward to about 2016, the Reign was a radical geometry 27.5" wheeled bike that established what a modern Enduro bike should be shaped like (except for a crazy slack seat angle). That bike became a massive hit because of value and performance: turning that generation of Reign into the most commonly seen enduro race bike at everything from local races to the world stage.
The last generation of Reign was a great bike: but it failed the Enduro market by not being a big enough bike / still great, but not enduro worthy (more of a trail bike).
Here we are. It is 2023 and this new Reign puts the bike right back where it belongs, at the head of the class where price, quality and performance intersect.

I have the 2021 version of this bike and it’s the best rear end suspension I’ve been on yet, PRs on every of my local trails (including climbing)

I own both the 27.5 Giant Reign SX and new 2023 Giant Reign 1 29er and YES - they are excellent riding bikes often better than bikes costing twice as much. If you are looking for a highly capable MTB that is best quality and value then this is it!

I have the 2022 version and really dont like much the geometry, it seems the tails bounces on chunk trails, Ive heard this year one sticks to the ground, and btw, the geometry looks so sleek!!!!!

Do you give up much on pedaling versus something like a Trance X?

Pedalling while seated is still good on the Reign. The 2 places you'd notice the extra travel is out of the saddle pedalling (it'll feel squishy) and technical climbing (lifting, maneuvering in techy stuff requires a bit more energy).
