@@marogers01 Me, too.
You make your life so hard not reading directions,Phillip, but it’s totally entertaining😂
Entertaining, and a little nerve-wracking!😮
Honestly the best cautionary tale.
It would frazzle my brain with anxiety. I’m just glad I have a husband that reads instructions and studies this stuff before he does the work. Sometimes it’s too much, depending on what it is but I’d rather have over doing it rather than the haphazard winging it process.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t watch!
One man`s pain is another man`s laughter. 😂😂😂
When he says „It’s probably the same“ while handling stuff that could easily electrocute him, I wanna run and hide. He truly is a gift that keeps on giving.
I hope he has a good life insurance policy. Yikes.
You should send this video to the gate company, so they can rewrite their instructions to make them more appropriate for the ‘average’ male…..or in your case, the ‘superior’ male.
What a brillant idea!
@@HowToRenovateAChateau 🤣🤣🤣
...when all else fails, read the instructions...
You could consider the instructions your friend and save yourself lots of work, but what would be the fun of that?
Well, I’m a nervous wreck after watching you work on the gates. I was so afraid you would damage the beautiful stone work, but looks like you corrected a bad situation. You don’t read instructions which is funny but frustrating too, yet your projects always turn out well. Can’t wait to see the gates operating. You certainly kept your cool throughout the mishaps-impressive! Have a good week. Too funny!!
You are most certainly not a camera man but a true stand up comedian. “I have the rare gift of looking at things and knowing what they’re good for”. Hilarious, really.😂😂❤
😅😂❤
The box w key is so you can operate the gate manually when the motor fails or there's no power. 😂 the stress of watching Phillip put together a piece of equipment is akin to the best suspense cinema
“A rare gift of not having to read instructions” 😱 After watching this through to the end I now need a lie down and a stiff drink. I will be ok soon. Opened boxes, missing parts and incorrect cabling. All the magical ingredients of a mysterious and exciting project! I can’t wait to see your next instalment. And the weeding is coming along also 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Could we have an update on Benoit please?
He left a message on the gofundme page
I saw that cable disappear and said "Oh Philip, my sweet summer child..." As an electronics enthusiast and shadetree electrician, my heart sank seeing that happen. I'm so glad you got lucky and managed to push that back.
I recall even saying to myself when the originals went in, I'd try to do something like push some extra cables just to be safe in case a future system needs more data lines or something.
Phillip needs to find an electrical version of Benôit to give him the instructions he hasn’t read
Anna and Phillip, the sense of humor you all have about life is the best. Hard work makes the world go round, just not a lot of fun. Have a blessed week
So impressed by the massive amount of courage and manly stamina required to tackle this intensely complicated task while suffering with your debilitating finger injury. What a hero! 😁
I appreciate your sympathy!
Oh my word Philipp that was some creative work to get those cable sorted. Good job!
Your injury very nearly deserves a patreon page of its own. Best wishes to you both.
I think we need to start a go fund me. I'm willing to put in fifty Zimbabwean dollars.
Phillip, you are a marvel, not having to follow instructions the way you do! The entertainment level is to be admired!
Don’t count on me for a go fund me for a boat. At least not until you READ the INSTRUCTIONS!
Fair enough 😂
Recycle your newspaper and cardboard and lay in down in your flower befs then put a layer of mulch ontop. It'll keep the weeds at bay.
Anna you have the patience of Job pulling all those sycamore seedlings out.
You will be so happy you did when the sycamore forest doesn't manifest.
Of course the ones in the lawn will be annihilated by the mower.
I'll say this - You sure know how to keep us in suspense. Intentionally or not.
French and Germans couldn't be more opposite, and strangely, they're neighbors. A German would have read the instructions, thrice, installed the correct number of wires, along with several additional, and a conduit large enough to handle several more cables along with a pull string/fish tape just in case they ever needed more. Rumor has it, Germans have never had to use the pull string/fish tape.
LOL, except that Philipp is not French; he comes from the German speaking Italian alps and German is his first language. I guess the instruction-reading gene didn't make it across the border!
😂😂😂
@@elisabeth6108which means he's Italian NOT German, HUGE difference. 😉 It does however mean he can't excuse not reading German instructions due to "foreign language" lol!
@@gnarbeljo8980 Yes, that's what I wrote.
@@elisabeth6108 i meant to reply to whomever wrote he's from German speaking Italy as if that made him at all German.
Phillip, it is good to see that you acknowledge your “screw-ups” and with a dry sense of humour. We all do that many times in our lives :) You both do an amazing job of renovating, navigating us through the Reno’s and your daily lives. Merci :)😊
I wouldn't know the first thing about installing gate motors or electrics. So being able to wing it, troubleshoot, share good news- I mean ask for help with great humility from the vendor, all very impressive to me. And all while battle-wounded. I enjoyed the creative shots and editing, and I learned a bit about weeding. :)
Congratulations Phillip, you are doing so well keeping up the male motto of not reading instructions and I expect ending up with quite a few 'left over' bits like screws etc just like my husband used to. 😂
Super hero Philipp does it again!! Bravo 😅 Love the subtle way you reminded us of your well priced bespoke gorgeous scented candles (from your very own trees), now available for purchase no matter where you live 🙂
As I have a ‘weed pulling’ addiction) (although not quite as severe as Philipp’s ‘tree buying’ addiction), I was super impressed with Anna’s patient rôle modelling and instructions to Ella to gently pull the weeds with the roots intact. Anna and Philipp your parenting skills are ‘second to none’ 🤩
Love the suspense and humour, and particularly the music and sound effects which in itself causes me to giggle 😂
Commiserations on your excruciating sore finger Philipp (in sync and sympathy with Benoit’s injured hand).
Your mention of a ‘go fund me’ was hysterical😂. I say this with ‘tongue in cheek’ 😅 because we all know that Benoit suffered a serious hand injury 😢. Wishing Benoit a speedy recovery ❤️
Congratulations are well in order Philipp, for rectifying any disasters on your first attempt at installing the automated electric gate, cameras, etc etc etc!! Pure genius 🤩
Thank you for the hilarious suspenseful 🎥 cinematic quality adventure.
Much love to you all, from sunny 😎 Central Queensland Coast, Australia 🇦🇺❤️🇦🇺
Such a sympathetic way to present a messy situation!
You continue to amaze me with your bold approach to building and renovating. It may not be perfect and it does have consequences but it is a learning curve. Your approach is logical but things seem to be engineered by twisted complicated minds!
My husband is currently fighting with a frost free water hydrant for our barn😳😳😳
If those gate work it will be an actual miracle - I couldn’t watch the whole video Philip stressed me
Out too much 🤦🏻♂️
You dear person . It’s interesting the way the things we refuse to spend time on , for example reading instructions, can so frequently bite us viciously and yet we still absolutely refuse to do that thing we should have learned to do by now . I enjoyed your disaster video very much .❤
You are such an entertaining personality, Philip…
We love you Phillipe--and know how embarrassing it had to be to admit you had messed up. We forgive you---just please start to read the directions in the future....
😂😂😂
😂🤣
The Italian part of Philip: refuse to follow instructions, suffer the consequences and then be obligated to read them anyway 😂
Oh my gosh Philipe you did it! Whenever my sister was working on a project, she would always ask me to help her as she knew I would read the instructions. Take care and be safe. Ciao👩🌾
Enjoyed your video very much as always, thanks for your humorous conversation.❤
The hedges are coming along beautifully 😍 ✨️ looking forward to gate installation!
Y’a know, at the beginning of this video I said to myself “I feel like I give Phillipp a hard time, he’s very capable” and then he goes and immediately proves me wrong and doesn’t read the directions again 🤣 phillipp i love you so much 🤣
ALSO WHEN THE WIRE GOT PULLED THROUGH ON ACCIDENT I AUDIBLY GASPED 🤣🤣
Can always count on Phillip to provide a few good giggles with his lack of reading instructions. Nice save and hope it works despite all your efforts to fail 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm so anxious to see the gates that you're having made! When will they be ready to install? Great work Phillip; I would say that you looked just like you knew what you were doing!! You see, you have us all fooled into thinking you don't read the instructions, but I think that you must. Looking forward to seeing this working in the near future. Have a great week Anna and Phillip and girls and of course, Ziggy! (from Sandi)
Anna, how do you do it? Phillip sure does make me laugh. Get well soon Philip.
He is a proper character....he's soo funny, Anna said he soo annoying 🤣. He cracks me up.. He's a hard working gentleman though !!
I also sometimes get into a little bit of trouble Phillip, as I usually throw the instructions out with the packaging.. you are in good company Phillip!! 😁 You had me laughing out loud !
I admire your perseverance! I know you’ll get it done.😊
Laughed out loud when he thought about setting up a go fund me account for his “hurt” finger . . . (Picturing Benoit’s amusement)
Omg we do so much of the same . 😂not reading directions until it’s totally either to late in the process or we have broken the parts . You are entertaining as always.
Only a genius can turn utter disaster and spaghetti into a sophisticated working electrical system.
Looking forward to the grand opening and full demonstration.
Man that was stressful to watch let alone go through
Oof this was a rough one. You got off lucky with that white cable pushing back out 😂
Love your channel, guys. It's the best. Also, in my long life I've never encountered ANYBODY who's more cack-handed at home repairs than I am: I'm way ahead of the field. Philip, however, is clearly visible in my rear view mirror... 😜
Congratulations on such a grand accomplishment! The walls are magnificant! 🎉
I’m glad it all worked out for you with the wiring.
Philip is very funny and extremely entertaining!! Hope he can make the gates work properly!! Love your channel!! 😊
I felt like I was watching a thriller movie 🤣 I'm really happy for you that the gate adventure turned out well!
In installed my gate and had similar annoyances. The difference is that I read and re-read the directions until I'd memorized them, then wrote a step by step plan for myself on paper. Now, I know Phillip is capable of doing the same. So, why didn't he? lol ;)
Even with Philips humour, that would fall short of maximum entertainment value.
His reading of instructions skill level is right up there with his ability to take accurate measurements. That's why we're so in awe of him.😂
Happy Mother's Day Anna and to your mother and mother in law Happy Mother's Day to them! This is a Mother's Day gift to us mother's. You uploaded on Mother's Day. Thank you !
Mother’s Day is the 3rd of June in France ! 😊
@@BlackMoustH wow! I had no idea. We learn everyday. Amazing.
And it was 19th March in the UK
I believe their Mother’s Day is a different day to states and Canada, so not their Mother’s Day. Each country is different.
argh! this was stressful for me, just what happens in my world when attempting to do new things. Always measure twice, and read everything. Good learnings for you Philipp ;)
@WAG The ads are part of what makes this available for you to watch right now.
Phillip, you had me chuckling all the way through this video. I can relate to not reading the instructions... but I do like at the pictures. 🤣
Well, at least you don't need instructions to be entertaining, Phillip. That's right, Phillip, it's all the fault of the instructions!
How is Benoit doing? Send him our best wishes and love, please.
So you, Anna, have the same job as many of us in the States who garden. First, comes all the clearing of the weeds and brush from the garden. We are just now planting vegetable seeds in Wisconsin. Such a busy time of the year.
Good one! Of course there has never been a bad one! Thank you for allowing us to experience your attention to detail and how very neatly the motors were stored so you understood everything you needed to do!
As a professional gate installer this was the most frustrating watch ever!! 😂😭😂
Tou should have said something earlier! 😂
I do wonder what goes on in your head Philip??
Thank goodness Anna is the sane one!! Great video, had a good laugh. Thanks guys!
I'm laughing because I just went through this same thing this morning with my 5-year-old grandson, having him help me with a non-native invasive plant called Garlic Mustard (here in central New York State). I had to emphasize and reward him with kudos about getting the root. I'd told his mother (my first child) on this Mother's Day that, for me, the best gift is the love language Gifts of Service (help me pull the prolific and invasive species, please!), and they both worked diligently; it will really make a difference!
Eat it! It is rather nice🌞🥳
Here in Ireland that isn't rain, its a soft day - one to be appreciated. ❤
Anna I love watching Phillip he makes me laugh, but I bet he drives you crazy sometimes 😂😂😢😢😢
philip so pleased with himself when the cable came through lol.
Certainly did enjoy this video Phillip.....you never fail to bring a smile to my face and have me laughing.....even if always for the wrong reasons!🤣How is Benoir doing?? Sandi x
Happy Mother's Day Anna 💐
Today, Sunday, May 14th is Mother's Day in Canada.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mum’s around the world. Sunday 14th May is also Mother’s Day in Australia ❤
the final shot with the stone pillars for the entry-gate was beautiful! Can't wait to see how it look like with the iron gates installed!!
Respect for not having a tantrum (as so many men do) when something goes wrong--instead of stomping bout, grumping at everyone, you used your brain & skills to solve the problem (or if you did stomp, you didn't show it, also very wise). Overall, I think this was a devil of a job & I'd definitely taken one look at those instructions (just a peek, not anything serious) and called an expert. I'm a little surprised that your gate installers didn't do this, surely they have done electric gates? Well, all's well that ends well---tho' we didn't actually see the gates work, so...?
I hope Benoit is watching this, and if so, he's probably rolling with laughter!
Love your content and sense of humor Philip, if all else fails with the gate, you can always hire a Footman, after all you do live in a Chateau 😉
Thank you for the laughs! I am months behind in watching your channel and am catching up a bit. It's the grey, snowy months in Ontario and your videos help! God bless you!
Welcome back!
Commenting on the title before watching. Instant like as always. This channel makes my day. It gets me through life somehow. That's the joy it brings me. Someday I hope to be a patron. But I'm broke and cheap or cheap in broke either way.
What could possibly be wrong with the gate. I do believe this will not be a problem for long.
Would be fun to see how you’re living in the chateau now that you don’t have guests! Do you use some of the rooms differently? Do you enjoy the whole chateau now?
I am a fellow traveler when it comes to reading instructions, often translated from another language, it's a cross we must bear and hope never to repeat, but still we do. Such is life!
For the love of god, when you’re going to spend a boatload of money on something - please read the instructions?
Philipp and Benoit now have something else in common; serious hand injuries.
He doesn't need to read instructions he has the rare ability to just look and know what everything does, famous last words
Omgness i had so much anxiety watching you Phillip 😂
My husband is a tradesmen & he was in stitches watching you. We love your vlogs .
Great job 🙌
Once again beautiful exciting music to accompany your activities. Love it!
Phillip, you are made for making these vlogs. You have the gift to make it funny and interesting. Thanks for the entertainment. 💯💯
Where I'm from we don't usually use the flexible conduit but tend to use pvc pipe I tend to use a size larger than immediately needed in case more wires has to be run, it also makes it easier to use a nylon fish line to pull more wires.
Today is Mother’s Day in the U.S.A. Happy Mother’s Day, Anna! 🙂
Philip you ARE the master ! Electrical, plumbing, wood working and certainly landscaping.
I said nothing about sailing
Good recovery, Phil.
Aaaaaahhh, watching Phillip makes me tense.
If you have to pull cable through flexi conduit a good tip is to use talcum powder or just a hint of washing up liquid rubbed on the cable. The control box you fitted on the wall with the cables entering from the bottom should be glanded to stop ingress of insects and it also protects the cable from the sharp edge of the hole, if you don't I can guarantee you will have insects and dampness within six months which will short your electrics.
Absolutely love this channel. Xx
Omg Philip with your serious injury you did all the digging and hard work! Dedication 😂😂😂😂
Can’t wait to see the gates operating. Hope your finger gets better soon. Have a nice day.
Hope everything works out with the gate opener.
Phillip you a real dad, just go with the flow as they say in America. Children will put their things where ever they choose. Just enjoy them because time flies. Wonderful idea for the gate!!!
Benoit could've saved you a ton of hassle if he would've been around 😅😅😅 love you Phillip!!!😊
You did a great job Phillip
Bravo 👏🏻
let me see, with the job you did on the gate your guests can check into the Chateau but, you can't leave ? all in, your great fun to watch
Brown is number two?! The rest of the cable chat went over my head….
Duh. That's why he had the wicked sideeye. Sometimes, I'm glad I'm still a bit naive at nearly 61. 😂
I wonder what those very loud bangs were. I am amazed at how you have learnt so much about wiring etc despite not reading the instructions. Missed not seeing you last week but understand other filming going on. 🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧
Missed these videos...glad you're back.
Masterful editing for thé masterful cable poking through moment! I had stopped breathing.
Sycamores in your yard; maples in mine. It’s a never-ending battle! 🍁🍃🍁🍃🍁🍃🍁🍃
