EA888 is a freakin monster of an engine 😊 sooo tunable they engineered in a lot of head room. Albeit the older (EA827/113) TFSI and 1.8T engines were tuners dreams in their heyday, so shouldn't be a surprise..

That 0 to 60 was flat 3 second Also those tires 😍 are the only tires that will plant this weapon on the asphalt and eliminates the sway in corners. All audis and Quattro cars should have this tires
Great video, as always! The only thing I will say is that the 4.7 0 to 60 time is completely inaccurate. Many channels have tested them and it’s always been 4.3, 4.2, sometimes even 4.0. So seeing that this tuned golf are only did it in 3.9 was kind of disappointing to me. Other than that, though, it was pretty impressive. I love these cars and I can’t wait to get mine in a couple of years.
We own a GTI MK8 and its not bad at all, reviews overblow stuff. Funny how almost all MK8 owners pretty much say the same thing that the infotaiment is actually perfectly adequate, people who actually live with these cars. But internet kids and car reviewers blast them :D

I had one of these recently for a couple of days. Trouble is everyone wants to take a pop at you in it. Great all.rounder though and very capable was glad to get back in the Porsche. If you're single get the Cayman ypu won't be disappointed
Haha there's a couple stock R32s in my town and whenever they go WOT it looks funny, a whole lot of beautiful noise and car hardly goes😂 even my gf who is not into cars at all made the same observation haha :D
The only real difference between them is the power to the real wheels. I don't see how a smaller trunk is better for a daily then a bigger one. Since there is no other ream difference between them otherwise.

The GTI CS is all over the place and thats with dry conditions. its like a rs3 the 8R it sticks to the road so its a saver nicer to drive daily than the GTi CS in my opinion ofcourse
@@Lensestthe CS is way more engaging and a driver's car. The R feels like a videogame but not engaging at all in my opinion. The CS also feels lighter and more eager to turn. With the R you feel the weight and lack of front diff.

In this thread people talking about engagement but the car that is capable of rear-bias and true power-on-oversteer is somehow more boring than a FWD turd. It's a well built, light, FWD turd, but still a turd. I've owned performance RWD and AWD cars (including my dailies) for over 15 years, and this, like the Focus RS or Corolla GR (to name comparable hatchback examples), is an amazing drivers car because you can make it dance. Threads like these are proof that most people rarely drive their car on the limit, because if you prefer boring FWD understeer to power on oversteer that these cars bring, my man, you're not the precious "driver" you think you are. It means you like boring FWD predictability compared to AWD or RWD, NOT engagement.
it has been cracked a while ago but it´s still difficult and therefore quite expensive. Most of the Stage 1 tunes for the Golf R start at 400 hp at least but start from like 5-6k euros. Not compareable with the Mk7s where you could get the same power with a stage 2 with an additional downpipe for like 2k.
I have golf 8 GTI 245ps freaking amazing car ❤ i have a limit speed at 245km but anyway its amazing ❤ for 400€ i can make stage 1 from 245ps to 320ps but i dont need it

As a Golf 8R 20 years edition owner I absolutely despice the leather seats of this car. I think picking leather seats is such a letdown and also design wise the cloth / alcantara seats are SO much better and more fitting. Also they cost like 3000€ less so only a huge ass win in my book. Sure they don't come with cooling but who needs cooled seats....

Average mk7 owner that can't afford the upgrade to mk8 moment. I came from 7R my friend, tracked it, modded it, enjoyed the hell out of it, was my favorite car i've ever owned. Got an 8R in 2021, wouldn't be caught dead in a mk7 again lmao. The capacitive buttons, the infotainment, the "poor quality" rear door panels? All a nothing burger once you find out how it drives and what the new engine changes (turbo, fueling), frontend changes (lighter subframe, suspension geometry), rear end changes (new diff capable of true rear bias) bring to the table. These aren't just small differences as the guy insinuated in the video, they are huge, IF you value driving. Everyone with track experience and driving their car on the limit knows them. But you people want to keep harping on about some buttons lmao, you get used to them in a day. Your mk7 is surpassed my friend, better save up or learn to live with it.
The R is my daily driver gotta say it's perfect other than the brakes everything is perfect and most importantly fuel consumption for having a fast car is very good.
Almost 300 km/h in golf is impressive. And it looks like that car is decently stable at that speed.
I had a Evo IX MR FQ360 with 510bhp and it was no where near as fast as this Golf, what an amazing car.
