Thanks @TheHotButton for this interview. Truly the most resourceful interview I've ever seen for a film. I know fellow indie filmmakers will benefit from the truth from these guys.
LOVE the interviews, particularly the cinematographers like Roger and Wally. These types of in depth and informative interviews are so educational for the younger generation of film makers and cinematographers like myself. Sub, shared, tweeted :) Keep 'em coming!!! I'd love to see an interview with Inarritu and Prieto on Biutiful!!! What an amazing, beautifully crafted yet under appreciated film.
There should be tons more views. Inspirational. And I loved when they were talking about how after two or three takes, they'll radically change the way they're acting to have stuff to play with in the editing room.
Such an insightful look into successful relationships between the director, cinematographer and editor. This was very good to watch. I am hoping to define my style as a filmmaker and I need the help of those who don't know me, who can give me honest opinions and constructive, knowledgable feedback. And, though through youtube, opinions should be taken with a grain of salt, I believe that hearing others reactions is how one is able to create more defined work. I hope it's not a waste of your time
great interview. a couple suggestions, avoid these kind of questions: "what do you have to say to your actor that say you push them too hard?[...] Err, I can't name names, sorry" "do people write about cinematography?" besides that, great work.
I hated this movie - the ending of Swan Lake should be positive - what was that ending? Very disappointed in the movie and also Natalie Portman - she is not a good actress! Mila Kunis was better - still could not save the movie! Greatly overrated!
@@gasslighterr well suited for this horrible movie - I saw the ballet a thousand times - this movie is offensive to the great music of Tchaikovsky or any ballet creation - !!!! I was very disappointed- just like I said before and so were a lot of other people!!!!
@@googlefan8990 If it was about Swan Lake then it would have a positive ending, instead it is about the steady decline of a character so driven to be perfect, when she lets herself go she achieves an innate perfection that leads to her own demise
I love to see a team together laughing about their hard work. I really want that.
Matthew Libatique did an outstanding job shooting the films Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain
Libatique throwing shade at Darren is hilarious!
worth every second.
🤙👍🏼😊

i love the last 15 seconds with the Rourke impression.
Wow this is so awesome... Long videos filled with gold. Keep them coming !!
Great interview.
Darren DID do commentary for The Fountain, it wasn't on the DVD but you can find it online. I have it.
The best thing about Requiem is the commentary by Matthew... i want him to break down all his films for me.
I love loooove Darren, I think he is a genius! Hopefully this wasn't the last time you interviewed him!
Great and talented people!

I admire Darren Aronofsky, awesome director
James Wong Howe, Greg Toland, and Connie Hall are my favorite DPs
Darren., you're awesome!!!!

They make a joke about the commentary, but I would legitimately purchase a commentary track for a variety of films. I think it is a great idea.

...is a legend.
The entire reason I watched this was because Libatique (the cinematographer) was in it. Who is your all time favourite cinematographer?
Probably Deakins honestly, but Libatique is great
I'M actualy 6th person who watch this on YT howe awesome is that
Aronofsky impersonating Mickey Rourke at the end, priceless. @55.15
great interview.

The adults are going back to the movies.
I'm so bummed they have no commentary on his past few movies.
Christian Bale directed Black Swan?
Roger Deakins
Is it me or does Aaron really look like Christian Bale?
Am i the only one who feels uncomfortable the two guys pointing their feet at Darren?
he looks like freddy mercury little brother
too much brain at work!
