      One of the best actors of all time himself Mel Gibson and Brad Pitt , they are the best since Steve McQueen and maybe Errol Flynn , I'll throw in Johnny Depp because he's almost their equal , strange that Micky Rourke and Brad Pitt got to work with Tarrantino Mel don't need he is a great director as well!

    Mickey Rourke got ripped off for the Oscar, he will always be my hero

      Hollywoods a game- they have their rules - behave yourself , Rourke was never going to get that Oscar he hadnt behaved himself during his career. However I thought he was brilliant and also brilliant in angel heart but he did waste his talent for a lot of years which is a shame.

    Mickey Rourke is an actor and artist who I deeply admire. He’s a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and carries himself how he sees fit regardless of what others think of him which is something I really respect in anyone but especially a man due to society’s expectations over male expressiveness.

    What guys like Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer will never understand is that audiences want to see real people interacting with other real people in real situations, in good stories and realistic dialogue. Human interactions and real emotions ftw!
    The Wrestler just managed to do that!

      It's not like the only good movies made are ones in the real world. The fantasy or comic book movies can be really well done aswell. They just need characters who FEEL real. A character doesn't have to actually be realistic, but they always have to feel real and relatable, and the world around them has to justify the concept brought to the screen. There have been some good movies in the fantasy kind of genres or comic book adaptations. The Dark Knight trilogy is a big example of this. They're based on a comic book series about a vigilante dresses up as a bat, but the movies make the characters and scenarios feel real enough to relate to them, even if the stories they're telling aren't exactly how most realisticly probable.

    It's interesting seeing Mickey Rourke's reaction when Marissa Tomei is mentioned at 22:25. He obviously didn't enjoy working with her and just thinking about the experience made him need a Marlboro! I certainly would have liked to have heard his thoughts but Poland clearly saw his reaction and thought it best not to go there.

      Pretty interesting since a reporter ask Marissa what she thought it was like working with Mickey Rourke and she completely avoided the question with a question by asking "How come no one ask him what would it like to work with me?" So there were definitely something going on. Judging by Mickey's reaction, it wasn't a good one.

  • @gg_nugu
    @gg_nugu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    What he said about how easily Evan Rachel Wood was able to "bring it" with these heavily emotional, yelling, crying scenes, it's sad to realize now she was almost at the height of an extremely toxic relationship at that time. I know when you're in that, the yelling and crying and arguing are second-nature, and there are alot of negative emotions under the surface that she probably was at least somewhat expressing through that role.
