    I spent 2 hours looking at Parmigiani watches, trying to convince myself in their beauty…but couldn’t! I swear, I tried but they’re too ugly to my eyes! Finally bought a Breguet classic blue enamel. The finishing is not on the level of the Parmigiani but I find the Breguet so beautiful!! And I’m glad I didn’t buy the Parmigiani. After buying 5 luxury watches in my life time (5K and over each), my take home message: buy something you LOVE! It’s the only way you won’t regret it!

    • @neilmartin7776
      @neilmartin7776 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely this. Parmigiani make incredibly technical movements, but their design aesthetic leaves a lot to be desired. The cases are so-so, the dials are, for the most part, either boring or ugly, and I'm not that impressed with the finishing on the movements (like GP, I find the overall finishing bland). It's sad really, since as I said, the technical aspects of the movements are excellent.

    Parmigiani is great, but their name ruines them, it's cheese... 😂

    • @starfthegreat
      @starfthegreat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I strongly believe that a brand's name can have an influence on their commercial success, and Parmigiani unfortunately doesn't help. It's a shame because literally the name just means "from Parma" (in plural).

    • @Raph.Bogaert
      @Raph.Bogaert 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @r2l100 I think they're aware of this, in the recent Tonda models they don't write their name in full anymore, but it's a new logo with only PF. Stunner of a watch, with the blue dial, integrated bracelet

    I’d add Montblanc to that list. They have consistently put out watches with innovative complications that are finished extremely well. But their resale is less than 50% in many instances.

    • @gyang333
      @gyang333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Terrible sell-in vs sell-out control. Montblanc was just dumping product onto ADs and agent-operated boutiques. It also shows how much watches are marked up when you can pick up a MB for 50% off.

Only gripe is that they are solely online. Stop! buy the watch you love and wear it. The value of a watch never reminisces If you purchase the watch you love. The watch industry has created a monster and your paying the price. Stop worrying about what you can sell your watch for. Either you love watches and wear them or you buy them and sell them for profit. One is a personal transaction the other is a business. and this is the problem with watch industry, everyone places to much emphasis on the market value instead of the inherent value of the piece.
    I have 3 Parmigiani pieces and I DON’T CARE WHAT THE RESALE VALUE IS. They are magnificent examples of high horology, they are superior to a majority of other high end brands, they are gorgeous and their value will forever be imbedded on the wrists of my children and grandchildren. The only people ruining brands like Parmigiani are the hucksters in the secondary market. The free market will dictate the value if you stop trying to manipulate it with videos like this.
    Stop ruining peoples perception of value by placing emphasis on intrinsic value over inherent value.

    I was giving to my local food bank because I was feeling sorry for those who have far less than I, and are struggling. I work three jobs, seven days a week to make ends meet.
    Well, to continue, I feel myself lucky that I can put food on the table. So I buy a couple of more cans of food at the store when I go shopping and help those less fortunate. I drove in with my 18 year old scion xa, to donate a case of canned food to my local food bank. One needy person coming in, in a very late model escalade, beautiful car, had on a Chopard L.U.C. watch. I recognized it, having good taste. That is one beautiful watch. He showed it off, while the volunteer clerk was stacking a case of food, including a gasoline voucher for the poor man and his needy family. I looked at my worthless and horribly assembled Fossil watch I saved for to purchase a couple of years back at the Fossil outlet store, and I knew that my time helping the needy was running short, driving between jobs.
    I asked, "if you are in such need, why not sell it?" I believe these are worth around 20K. Am I not correct? That should keep him and his family fed. His response, snub and nod of refusal as if I am a loser, and off he drove in his three year old escalade. But, maybe I am wrong. His watch and the SUV must be unsellable, worthless. Poor man and his poor family.
    I truly am fortunate.
    I am so glad I have the luxury to scrimp and save helping those more, errr less, fortunate than myself. Maybe one of these days, if I work hard, I, too, can afford one of these wonderful watches. In the meantime, my commitment to the needy never ends. I am saving up for a POljot de Luxe dress watch, a soviet watch, I feel is an understated bargain. It will take me at least a year.
