Hey Everyone, thanks for watching. Which of the watches mentioned was your favorite? Also, quick typo correction, the Lorier has a plexiglass NOT a sapphire crystal. This is commonly used in their watches across the board for more vintage appeal.
What I love about PRX, it looks so much like Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust 17000 ( a goal watch of mine)...so i can get something similar for much cheaper. Also I believe the Datejust was designed by Genta!
The Zelos Nova Aventurine is a nice micro brand watch I had no idea about and really want to see if I can get my hands on one to add to my collection. I just picked up a Tudor Heritage 1926 M91550-0005 and would love to see you do a review on it . Thanks Teddy for all the knowledge on this channel, as I could not have started building a collection without it.
That's what I thought at first, and then I realized the sweep just looks like an electric wall clock. I love the ticking of mechanicals because it's a visual reminder that those tiny gears are working away in there. The GS's are gorgeous though.

Now do the opposite: Shamelessly expensive watches that should have been cheaper. First up: IWC with their ETA powered watches that cost 8 - 10.000 euros.
@@marctravismba Most of their models dont have an in house movement though, no water resistance, no anti magnetism. IWC still robs people blind because of their brand power.
@@Sandouras That doesn't answer the question. You said models costing 8-10,000 euros have ETA movement. Which models are these specifically? And don't move the goalposts again. In fact, very few of their models are even at the price point, aside from some special editions and precious metal variants. But actual regular production models? No. The Portugiesers are in-house. The Portofino 8-day handwound (in your price range) is in-house. Big pilot Annual Calendar Spitfire (in your price range) is in-house. Big Pilot 8-days, in-house. The only ETA-based SS models are well below your price range (Aquatimer, which is 300M WR by the way, Ingenieur, Mark XVIII, etc.). And let's not forget about the other aspects of the watch. It's not just the movement. Did you consider build quality? How about finishing?
I've always had the JLC Reverso Small Seconds as a grail watch. I actually prefer its versatility to some of the more expensive models that appear more dressy to me.
Agree completely with the Formex Essence. I have it in blue and find it to be very similar to my Omega Aqua Terra 150 in blue at 20% of the price. But I’m a sucker for both dials so they each have their place.
Great video Teddy, a suggestion. You should take advantage of the the timestamps that you can add in the description to divide the video in each watch.
Great video. I would add the Glycine Combat Sub. It represents quite the value at the current street price. I recently purchased the GL0092 version for $315. Last week, I visited a watch repair shop to get a battery for one of my quartz divers. I was wearing the Glycine and the proprietor of the shop congratulated me on my "nice Tudor Heritage Black Bay". The appearance of the two time pieces are quite similar. I've been impressed with everything about the Combat Sub, especially the case thinness and the finishes. It looks and feels more expensive than it is.
@@TeddyBaldassarre can't wait to see your review! I'm still new to this whole watch review thing so it'll be good to see how I compare to a seasoned reviewer!
From the Seiko lineup, two watches from their Presage line that I think look more expensive than they are priced would be the SPB171 and SPB093 with the Arita Porcelain dials. Both for around $2k or less new.
ive just bought the automatic version of the PRX and I have to say its definitely my favourite watch. its a little more than the price of this PRX in this video but i prefer the sweeping second hand and the waffle style face to the normal battery prx. definitely recommend to anyone looking for a watch under £1,000
The Omega 300m (in blue) is great. I think its a wonderful complimentary piece to a collection, and you still have the room to get/have a Sub or GMT Master II in your collection. The BB58, just isn’t as nice as the Omega 300m. Also, the JLC is amazing, but the Reverso takes too much of the conversation for that brand. They make some fantastic watches that aren’t Reversos.
@@wineman88881 yeah 8-9k, but in terms of the market it's playing in - it remains kind of a bargain. Laser ablated dial, co-ax movement with worldtimer complication that "looks' more expensive than something like a Sub, or even a plane jane Oyster Perpetual (retail).
How is a 5k Omega an entry level luxury watch? What about Oris, Tag Heuer and Longines? They are in the 1-2k range. Do you not consider them luxury watches?
$4K - $10K is considered entry level luxury with brands such as Omega, Breitling, Tudor, and Rolex. TAG Heuer is in a tier below that. Oris and Longines is below that.
You may also consider the MIDO Ocean Star 600, which is a mid-range priced swiss made watch with 80 hours of power reserve, a ceramic bezel, a comfy and well made bracelet, a stunning sapphire crystal, 600 meters of water resistance, and an absolutely amazing finishing...for about 1500USD ! And it really seems as beautifully made and finished as a 3k USD watch, in my humble opinion.
Teddy already mentioned the brand for having nice finishing, nicely done bracelets. You forgot to mention it's also a Chronometer. I've just learned they do a black one with ceramic and some fancy plating that I don't know enough about. But seeing the latest black ceramic dive watch from Tudor... I would choose the Mido for looks.
The Orient and Steinthart divers are really difficult to get around in terms of looking and feeling way more expensive than they are. To me, the much, much lower price functionally makes them far superior, more enjoyable watches than the more expensive ones they resemble, because you can wear them carefree, completely without fussing about them. Personally, I can't really like watches if they have any sort of remotely significant price tag and a WR below 10 bar, but that's just me, I know, for some the fussing and fragility is part of the charm.

I was wondering when the PRX was going to make an appearance. They've been advertising like crazy to me. It may be the first quartz watch I get. Tissot does good finishing for the prices.
A marketing guy from Tissot wrote under one of their facebook ad posts that the automatic version is going to be released later that year. If the quartz is something you'd rather skip I recommend waiting till the end of the year for a powermatic version of the PRX.
Great video again, Teddy. Really agree with a lot of the watches you had here. Biggest miss on this list, in my opinion, is the Tissot Heritage 1948 Chronograph. It definitely is more than the sum of it's parts. The Baltic - I have the Aquascaphe and a couple "kinda" watch people remarked at how expensive it looks compared to the price. Omega Seamaster Diver 300 has always been a "no brainer" to me vs. something like Rolex. Great pick. I went for the Planet Ocean when I bought mine but only because the price difference wasn't huge at the time and it was more the one for me when I put it on. Seeing Grand Seiko in person, they look like absolute jewels in the case at the shop. Quite special.

What about taking the top ten watch brands and then looking at the Cheapest model that every one has to offer. The cheapest Seiko to the cheapest Oris etc etc. I bet it would be really interesting and I am sure we would see models from all brands that we didn't know existed.
Sarb033 is fantastic, really appreciate it the more I wear it, 38mm is perfect size also. Dresses up and down. Cocktail time at 40mm doesn't work so well, they should have put it at 37/8mm, still nice though. Maybe a grand Seiko one day, we can wish. My Tudor choice would be north flag,
Love this list. I have a pretty small seven watch collection so far. Two of my seven are featured in this video (The Seamaster and the Snowflake). The green Formex is my next watch purchase when it's available for pre-order again and, although I don't have any of the Orients mentioned, I have two Orients: a green Maestro and a red Kamasu.
Hey Ted, your channel is the bestttttt. I love all the watches you have reviewed so far. I have watched many channels related watches but your knowledge is at par.
Teddy, great job as always- thank you! Appreciate you giving Lorier some much deserved love. I recently purchased a Lorier Hyperion and am enjoying it immensely. Because of it's smaller case size, it is very comfortable and although the bracelet wears well, the Hyperion pairs nicely with a variety of Barton strap materials and colors in my collection.
The Grand Seiko Snowflake is my favorite, I have two Seiko watches in my wardrobe of watches and I love both of them. My local, small town (I am just north of Nashville, Tennessee) jeweler is always is happy to see me when I come in to his shop. I never spend more than I can afford to pay in cash, and I always use a charge card for points. Part of the fun is saving up cash for my new purchase, the feeling of anticipation is magical, it's like a good meal.
I own several Rolex (GMT Coke, Explorer, DJ..) but I must acknowledge Tissot with their Powermatic movement along with their latest series (Gentleman, Genta style, Couturier..) are really impressive..This is a major step up and Tissot becomes a serious player; special attention to the Gentleman steel gold serie very close to Omega’s De Ville Tresor in terms of finishing..
@@TheSafeGolfer purely from a price point of view i like to think of luxury watches as entry level, luxury, high end luxury, ultra luxury and so on. I think Omega is firmly in the Luxury spot. I say purely from a price point of view cause when you start looking at quality the lines get a little muddier.
Did you know that the Seiko watch you showed, comes as a battery powered or solar powered version? Another surprising thing, the Seiko beats at 56 ticks per minute. That means that each tick occurs less often, but covers more rotation than 1/60 of the circle.
Intersting list. I would add two watches in the around 1.000 € range, the Squale 1521 (around 900 €) and the Sinn 104 (around 1.400 €). Both are absolutely amazing watches who punch well above their prize tag.
15:18 if the selling point on a 6000 dollar piece of metal and leather is that you can finally be able to start a conversation with it, then you may need to learn some social skills. Beautiful watch though!
Nice video! I think that Longines Hydroconquest and Certina DS Action Diver are also in this same category. Great looks and quality on their pricepoints.
A great list Teddy, and terrific macro video as well. I can certainly agree with some on the list including the Omega 300M ideally with the white ceramic dial and black hands, The Grand Seiko Snowflake spring drive (I had a chance to see one of these with the gold markers and hands at an AD last year but was not sure if the at the time out of stock version with silver markers and hands would be better for me, in lock down now so maybe a missed opportunity). The JLC Reverso is just iconic to new or those who have spent maybe a little more time in this hobby, from personal experience those who know them seem to want to have a chat about them if they see it on the wrist, mine is a tad old and battle scarred but still gets comments, my watches are worn so will pick up damage so a value purchase of one that has already been though this makes sense. The new Tissot PRX looks great, as for the others I don't have any experience of them other than reviews so can't really comment but I'll take a look in the future.
Longines are my favourite watches & I have some beauties! Just bought a Omega which was rather expensive & it’s completely unsatisfactory, very dissatisfied.
Have the original cocktail time with 6r15 movement, lovely watch but 40mm is to big, 37/8mm would have been classic. If its on a leather strap, under 40mm is the way to go.
Orient Bambini of course. Longines Master Moonphase. Zelos Swordfish. Just got my first Richard LeGrand because of you Teddy and I'm impressed. I hate saying it but Invicta Pro Diver. At least looks more expensive until you handle one. And I actually agree with the Omega Seamaster bit. But I'll throw in the Aqua Terra.
I'm in love with Tissot since their lunch of Tissot gentleman powermetic 80, it is really a game changer, even tho it's still on my wish list but definitely for me Tissot is the perfect and most reasonable Swiss watch maker out there.
friend, I couldn't believe it when I found out about the plastic in the Tissot powermatic. this is a mockery of tissot lovers now everyone with tissot is aimed at hamilton
Astor and Banks is a very underrated microbrand. They make very good value time pieces that look expensive than they actually are. Especially the Mother of Pearl dial fortitude. I hope Teddy to review Astor and Banks sometime in the future

CW watches are amazing, and basically started the microbrand movement 15 years ago. But since they've been leading the charge, they've also been improving quality, finish and moving upmarket. They're all over $1000 now, so...starting to move out of the more mass microbrand territory (but deservedly so).
I own a christopher ward c60 gmt and the quality is easily around the oris and longines level, maybe even omega in terms of case and bracelet finishings.
@@junwoojang2941 exactly. they've stepped it up and are like the elder statesman of the microbrand movement these days. there's a good case to be made that they've actually moved away from that category and firmly into the more established brands now, alongside Bremont and the like.

7 watches is a small collection ?? I have like 3 😂
why would you want more than 1
@@Sheldinator because I'm a collector.
how much did your collection grow so far?
@@tahasinkaderchowdhury4854 got to 15, now at 14, working to get down to 8 or 9.
Love this videos !!!! So cool !! 🙏🏼
What this channel does so well is the cinematic up close shots of the time pieces
Tissot Gentleman Powermatic, great watch. I bought one after seeing Teddy review it.
What i have realised watching your videos for this long that you got a soft spot for blue dial
Put a premium quality aftermarket leather/suede strap on Stowa Flieger Type A, and you’re looking like you’ve spent way more than a $1k
i enjoy ur videos more than anyone else doing the same. excellent presentation, soothing voice
Maurice Lacroix Aikon 39 or 42mm looks more expensive than its price suggests too I think.
I own several Rolex (GMT Coke, Explorer, DJ..) but I must acknowledge Tissot with their Powermatic movement along with their latest series (Gentleman, Genta style, Couturier..) are really impressive..This is a major step up and Tissot becomes a serious player; special attention to the Gentleman steel gold serie very close to Omega’s De Ville Tresor in terms of finishing..
i would say Omega is firmly luxury, above entry level.
I agree. TB makes the comment that the Omega isn’t quite Rolex. I disagree.
Great video! I’ll be adding a few of these to my list. I’d say Longines also have watches that look a lot more expensive than they are.
That Tissot has a strong whiff of the Zenith Defy. Gorgeous.
I think it’s more like the oysterquartz from rolex
Did you know that the Seiko watch you showed, comes as a battery powered or solar powered version? Another surprising thing, the Seiko beats at 56 ticks per minute. That means that each tick occurs less often, but covers more rotation than 1/60 of the circle.
Intersting list. I would add two watches in the around 1.000 € range, the Squale 1521 (around 900 €) and the Sinn 104 (around 1.400 €). Both are absolutely amazing watches who punch well above their prize tag.
My man I found u a week ago, this channel is dope!
I'm searching for the Panerai videos!!!
All videos are fun! Love watches!
15:18 if the selling point on a 6000 dollar piece of metal and leather is that you can finally be able to start a conversation with it, then you may need to learn some social skills. Beautiful watch though!
I love Seiko watches. The design,
Movements are all on point. Cannot ask for more from an affordable watch
The Seiko SUP880 is a great example
Nice video! I think that Longines Hydroconquest and Certina DS Action Diver are also in this same category. Great looks and quality on their pricepoints.
I enjoy listening to the knowledge well articulated while enjoying the cinematography. Well done
The new Tissot PRX looks great, as for the others I don't have any experience of them other than reviews so can't really comment but I'll take a look in the future.
thank you for this. I really dont have the budget for a luxury watch, so I can appreciate you taking the time to present to the rest of us...
Would you put Ball watches into this category? I have one. Been getting many compliments from friends wearing Rolexes
It’s Rolex not Rolexes! Not being rude, thought you may like too know 🙏
@@florence1395to know
I’m stuck between the presage or the Prx help guys. I love both of these but which would you guys prefer??
Get the Presage!
Longines Spirit Chronograph. The watch comes with history, heritage, characters and much more
Longines are my favourite watches & I have some beauties! Just bought a Omega which was rather expensive & it’s completely unsatisfactory, very dissatisfied.
Outstanding video.I have to go with the MAMACOO, especially with that green dial as my favorite
i own a seiko presage and it looks really luxurious under sunlight.
Me too i bought a seiko presage cocktail blue moon for 337 dollars and I very happy to had it.
Teddy you saved me from buying mvmt watches. You the man!
Lmao
Just bought the PRX powermatic 80 and I’m absolutely in love, most I’ve spent on a watch and I’m worried about the passion it’s created :)
Certainly many in the Hamilton line would qualify.
Disagree. Hamilton may be good quality, but they look so basic and utilitarian. Luxury isnt a word I would use
@@deansusec8745 that's true
Hey Teddy. Great video, I love the Grand Seiko and the Formex. One watch that I really think is missing in this video is the the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80
Tissot shouldn’t be as good as they are. Available everywhere, well made, well priced, and great designs.
You are a Gentleman for sure. I enjoy watching you grow. Money doesn't equal class.
The Montblanc heritage 3 Hand model looks also a lot more expensive than it is :)
I rarely write comments, so I thought I'd keep it. Your videos are very good quality and very helpful! Thank you very much for them, and good luck with further development in this area!
What about Christopher ward? I've heard good things about them and the trident C60 looks way more expensive than it is
CW watches are amazing, and basically started the microbrand movement 15 years ago.
The name printed on the left side of the dial make it look like a cheap fashion watch.
@@giusepperocchi2979 that's just your opinion. Plenty of people still like them so they are still selling
Thank you for making high quality videos!Love mamacoo ’s watches
Teddy, the Tissot seemed to have a misaligned seconds hand. Tell me this isn't true.
Great review thanks for the great overview
Those Formex pieces are gorgeous.
Very nice that you mentioned Formex. I own a Reef GMT, got that for some months now, and I really love it. There is so much thought in the Formex timepieces and so much detail in the design!
Some mechanical models from starking and seagull can look more expensive.
MAMACOO is one of my favorite watch manufacturers they do offer beautifull dials, good workmanship & moovements. That smooth sweeping second hand is truly mesmerizing!
Hey man, you forgot about Filippo Loreto, MVMT, Vincero and Invicta? The middle man? He’s gone? Didn’t you see their commercials? :O
He didn't forget. Highly overrated watches are a different video.
My list:
-Pequignet royal 300
-Titoni
-Yema
-Archimede DK30
-Chopard 1937 Classic
-Raketa Amphibia
-Strela Signal
-PRIM Orlik 38
-Orient Maestro
Take a gander lol i thought they used that terminology in Australia only lol.. ✌❤
Nope, we use it here as well,,,,
( West Yorkshire, England,, ). Lol...
@@John..18 us southern softies too.
Another great video sir. Macro photography excellent as always.
The seiko 5 could be had for under $200 when on sale...I love mine, and its a bargain!
