      Running a 5600X under a shared 240 loop in push pull. PBO2 of -18 with motherboard limits disabled and maximum boost clock override lets me hit ~4.85 GHz while gaming with 75C as the highest temp. Also increased my Cinebench R23 multi core score by ~4% and single core score by ~7% with same exact temps as stock of ~62C. While temps do increase slightly during gaming, my system stays whisper silent and free performance is free performance. Amazing utility!

    A good over-clock starts with an under-volt, then boost increases frequency to use up the heat & power budget without pushing more current through the CPU.
    All core optimises the uncommon high load evenly spread load case, which frankly stuff like render farm conversion is better on a separate server box rather than a workstation

    I'm pretty new to overclocking I have a x570 gigabyte gaming x motherboard, 5900x cpu and a 6800xt red dragon gpu. I just want a basic overclock do you guys think these same settings on the video would work on an x570 mobo? When I first started messing around with overclocking I had PBO on and I used ryzen master auto OC and kept getting crashes in games so I just turned off PBO and I've just been running it at 3.7 GHz. Any advice would be awesome, thank you in advance!

    This helped me so much! One issue I'm having with the all-cores method: When I monitor my frequencies and voltages, it seems like the CPU won't downclock even when idle. It's just always locked to the overclock speed. The utilization and power on each core do both drop, but the frequency and voltage remain locked. Is this an issue? How do I address it?

    Tip when using cinebench r23 do the multicore test with 30 mins, if it doesn't crash on that then your sistem is gonna be rock stable. Mine wasn't crashing AIDA 64 with all 3 settings checked after hours and hours of stressing, but with cinebench r23 with a little over 10 mins of stress test it was crashing, everytime I was trying, and like that I've found that I've needed to lower a little bit my clocks, 50 MHz ti be more precise.

    Awesome video! For some reason, the PBO OC doesn't work on my mobo. I have a ROG Crosshair Hero VI and a 5900X. This mobo has support for the 5900X since last summer. The all-core OC works excellently. When I put it in PBO mode, the board locks the clock at 3700 MHz max. It does throttle down, but not over the 3700. I had the same issue with my 2700X and 2900X. Do you have any idea why this is happening? I've searched all over Google and can't find an answer.

    • @Toxijuice
      @Toxijuice 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This comment was from at least year ago, so I hope you're not still trying to get this to work. But for anyone in a similar situation: I have a Crosshair VIII Hero and recently was trying to adjust PBO settings, and nothing was changing. In my case, the "Extreme Tweaker" category in the BIOS, where all the main overclocking options are, has a PBO adjustment menu that does absolutely nothing. But under "Advanced > AMD Overclocking" there is an identical menu that actually *does* work. I have no idea why.
      The easiest option is to just use Ryzen Master to adjust PBO. Keep in mind that even though Ryzen Master is software that runs in Windows, it just changes those same BIOS settings. So uninstalling Ryzen Master doesn't revert the settings, and even if you revert within Ryzen Master it might be worth double-checking BIOS to ensure things are set correctly.

    • @SpencerTaylorOnline
      @SpencerTaylorOnline 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Toxijuice, I was aware and using the PBO settings under the AMD Advanced settings. I did not try undervolting or other more complicated tweaks. But I was never able to get the performance I thought should be there with the PBO in the mobo. I also tried Ryzenmaster, but it requires more patience than I have to give. You need to reboot the PC a ton of times to dial anything in, but you also have to reboot with the BIOS setup, so you can't win. I ended up dialing in a very light OC, and it's been working well for a long time. It could be tweaked to do more, but I'd rather have it stable. I did get a 4.65 all core OC working without issues, but it produces too much heat. I'm not even using PBO, and relying on the "regular" BIOS adjustments, which perform slightly better on my board. My 5900 is in the correct window of performance for "stock," and it produces a lot less heat. Thanks for answering my comment, that was very cool!

    One thing that I noticed but didn't comment on is that you have your RAM running at 3800 and if you have not done anything else then you will be running you FCLK and UCLK at a data rate of 950 or 1,900 MHz.
    You will only be running 1:1:1 with MEMCLK, FCLK and UCLK up to 3600 or a data rate of 1800. As soon as you go above that the FCLK and UCLK will automatically get cut to half of your MEMCLK setting.
    So basically you will have crippled your memory performance.

      @The_Chad_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sunnydaleslim4050 Set PBO to motherboard limits or manual limits. If it's a high end mobo, then motherboard limits should suffice. Set Max boost override to the highest setting you can get to run stable. I think 200mhz or 300mhz is the max. Maybe start at 100mhz then go up by 25 until you get instability, then drop back down a bit. Change Curve optimizer to "per core" then set the voltage offsets for every core to negative offset and as low as you can go while maintaining stability. I think -30 is the max. Safest way is to start at -5 on each core, then go down by 5 each time. If you get a crash, go back up 5 on all cores and start bumping the voltage down on each core by 5 until you find good stability at the highest voltage offset. Maybe I'll make a tutorial soon.

    I wonder how difficult it would be to have an OC boost on a r7 5800x to a solid 5ghz on a x570-f with a 3070, 48gb of ram at 3200mhz with a 240mm AIO and a 750w psu

    Why is your memory frequency set to 3800mhz but DCOP is 3600mhz?

    • @brettcombs774
      @brettcombs774 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noticed the same. Though Z2 used to take a decent hit when going above 3600 depending on the Fabric clock. not sure if Z3 benefits from 4000+ due to fabric tweeks or not.

    I didn't need my 5900x but for 100 more I thought why not get the best better as last am4 chips.
    I disabled SMT and enabled pbo and on a cheap twin tower air cooler I'm getting 4.9ghz in 2 core heavy games (mass effect 1 LE), 4850mhz 4 core and 4700mhz upto 12 core with temps under 70 degrees.
    know I'm wasting the SMT but I currently don't need it and like doing what it can do with just 12 true cores

    • @johnathonm7813
      @johnathonm7813 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      4.7 with no SMT and pbo beats a stock 5800x in R20 with temps of 63

    Sold my 3070 a week ago to help pay for my 3080ti FE and it ended up going for £880 - and today I saw brand new 3070s going for under £800. And at the time I'd undercut the other cards on ebay by around £70 as well. A week before that they were going for £1050.

    i could run a 4,5 all core just with DOCP on, AI on and a multiplier of 45 ... DONT do Voltage ! boot in system gives me a decent 1,208 max all core voltagge under full load ! hwo about that. what i am going to do now is try the DIGI VRm stuff you did and the PBO setoff´s and see whats changing... at this point i dont believe there is a manual setup to Voltage necessary

    Overclocking new ryzen CPUs hardly worth the effort. Just turn on precision boost overdrive and let the CPU decide how to boost clocks to optimize performance.

  • @tiou62

    Using PBO2 is a better solution. Frequency with light load (1T) will reach 5GHz+ while heavy load (all T) will also run at 4.4~4.6GHz, according to Power Limits defined in the Bios.
