@Predator Ex This I understand, but the video title and what he did is a joke.
I really do like what AMD had in Zen 3. I've also soon a couple of youtubers have gotten 5.05GHz out of the 5950x.
Personally I'm upgrading one of my systems from a 3600 to a 5600X. Was considering a 5900x, but despite the excellent single core performance improvement is still close enough to Intel (trading blows) in gaming that I'm not motivated to upgrades my 9900k systems, especially since this will need the last CPU for the AMD AM4 socket.. I'll wait for the 6950x and new socket next year.

@Predator Ex yeah the new GPU are tempting, I will be getting one to go with that 5600x. One from I don't get a higher for count 5000 series processor is that it's going into a tiny 7.8L case with a low profile cooler. Anything above a 5600x will likey prove to difficult to cool with my Big Shuriken 3 cooler in my warm South Florida room.

His whole channel from the very beginning has been clickbaits upon clicbaits. Literally anything he says is immediately contradicted or just plain false.
The facts are - Ryzen 5000 can boost to around 4.8ghz all core and 5ghz on single core, maybe 5.1 if you're lucky. I think the majority of buyers will have theirs stable at 4.7ghz allcore. Which is still around 200-300mhz higher than previous gen, and combined with IPC gains - what more do you want.
But 5ghz allcore stable? Come on, it doesn't even finish Cinebench and that is like the bare minimum you can do to stress it. Maybe some lottery winner can do it. Like those miracle 10900k chips that run 5.3ghz allcore on air or some shit... The top 0.5%

That's actually a thing I like, if you compare with the fact that intel has been giving us WAY underclocked cpus since 2nd gen... an i7 2700k can get to 4.5ghz all core no problem on all of the chips, but they stole us of more than 1ghz on the default configuration so they can overclock it themselves on the next gen, giving us a "new" cpu with the usual 5% gen over gen improvement... instead of changing the architecture, they limited the performance and just went for an oc: that's how we got in this situation in the first place

    • @Carson_MM

My clock was 4.1Ghz which isn't impressive but the 3rd place 5950x was clocked at 3.88Ghz which honestly is pretty awesome. Overclocking the i5 10600k and i7 10700k to 5-5.1ghz most likely beat the AMD equivalent in most games + keep in mind intel has far better high speed memory support and as we seen in most cases come cheaper? Through the bios OC feature, I've got it stable at 4.95ghz across all cores using 1.4V and a noctua d15 ith the 2 fans :D Tested it on Ubuntu 20.10 running from a usb drive xD. Managed to run a couple of mathematical tests with LAPACK and my own code without any issues so far. That thing is a BEAST. I suppose disabling the hyper threads would allow me to get 5ghz across all cores, and a better fan curve and voltage as well hehe. I got my 5800x to boost to 5050mhz single core sustained without over clocking.
You need to set the curve optimiser to negative to lower the voltage/frequency curve. (This means given a CPU frequency the CPU will use less voltage compared to stock to achieve that frequency ).
Then you need to set "Max CPU Boost Clock override" to Positive and set the off set to +200mhz.
This will let you hit 5050 mhz on single core and all cores will also boost higher people are seeing up to 200mhz faster all core clocks.

I own two 5900X CPUs -- one on a Gigabyte B550 Vision D, the other on an MSI X570 Unify. The Vision D pulls ahead on every benchmark vs. the Unify board. I had the best performance by far when disabling PBO and using a negative 30 curve fit offset. It's truly amazing what curve fit can do. In this video, he shows Passmark single-core at 3673 after disabling all but 1 or 2 cores. On my system using the curve-fit offset and no cores disabled, I'm getting a single-core score of 3714 on the Vision D board and 43,504 overall CPU score--way ahead of the 39,522 average Passmark score. In fact, my 3D Passmark benchmark is also lifted nicely by the Vision D board with my 6800 Radeon Red Dragon card running neck-and-neck with the RTX 3090 (25,400 on the Vision D vs 23,500 on the Unify board)--and that 25,400 score was taken with my 5600X using a 200MHz PBO boost max offset. I can't wait to see what I can pull with the 5900X using that same card.

(does not mean that the X570 Master is not overclocking the cpu out-of-the-box) but it did really cought my attention No Crashes
Might be a golden ticket CPU, on the other hand as it only does it for a few seconds while being busy with installs it did bump the temp up aswell really quickly even though the loop would keep it cool as most of the system is idling during an install.

Not seen a 5950x get less than 5050Mhz on a single core anyway. Which is gamers Nexus, most seem to hover around 5100mhz and jayz2cence says his would hit 5200mhz. The 4900mhz is the minimum boost it can hit. My 3900x would never get too 4.6ghz on boost. Well I say never got, it used to hit it on my faulty Asus x570-f but one of the dual channels would error like mad at stock and tested all memory and they where all good. The replacement all memory works but boost didn't quite hit that again.

    • @kazedcat

Base clock. Base clock ia rated for all core under heavy load on standard cooling. Boost clock is the peak frequency that the best core could reach.

      @TBlackToothT91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Tu To When overclocking there is no option for base vs. boost. You just select the frequency the core will run. If you set the frequency too high then your PC will crash often so you have to tune the frequency so that your PC can run your games without crashing.
