Thanks a lot! Next Sunday I will release Rorate Coeli from this suite. For me the most beautiful part. I'm curious about your opinion about that one too!
It sounds so familiar to me ... I played this piece myself some years ago. Thanks for your beautiful recording! Yesterday I recorded the prelude (Rorate coeli) of this suite, but only on one of my small pipe organs. Preparing for Sunday ...
Thanks for listening! I recorded the Rorate too. I will release it next Sunday. I think that one is my best recording of whole 2024. It’s exactly played like the composer wanted. :-)
@@RienSchalkwijk Oh, I suppose, I didn't play it exactly like the composer wanted ... At first, I miss the perfect ranks ... But I read some interesting discussions about the tempo, recently. Someone was convinced, the duration in the score (5.20) would be a typing error, the correct time would be 3.20, because of the tempo indications "Allegro moderato" ... What's your opinion?
There is no correct or perfect length. It only can be an indication based on the score. But as an organist you also have to consider the room as part of your performance. I used Alessandria with its big cathedral reverb. So you have to play it pretty slow to get a good articulation. In a dry room you can play a bit quicker to prevent losing integrity of the piece. Mine is 4.19 which I considered the right tempo with my particular sample set.
If playing music was just exact repeating what was written down, it wasn’t art but science. Fast is good, slow is good. Some people would what you do, others don’t. Some like everything you do, some like nothing. And that’s okay! I think 80% of the organists plays the orgel buchlein too quick. But I can do it slower. Regardless their opinion. :-)
A most delightful performance. Yon's Advent Suite is wonderful and most enjoyable to play. I played three movements last Sunday. Do you know Yon's 'Gesu Bambino'? If you want a copy please let me know. [At least one copy of it online is a bit strange.] I was practising it this morning, not having played it for two or three years. Yon's life story is particularly interesting and worth looking up online. As yet, I have never come across a second Advent Suite!
Yes, I finished my 18 minute organ prelude on Sunday with the Rorate, after also including settings by other composers, including Jeanne Demessieux. The Communion Ave Maria in Italian peasant style is also cute and also makes a good contrasting recital piece. [I was asked to do another Advent recital this month in a large Basilica however am too old at 82 to continue with recitals.] I don't enjoy the final movement as much as the others.
So gorgeous and wonderful, perfect for Advent!
Thank you! 😊
Sehr schön vorgetragen und bebildert. Danke Rien und liebe Grüße. Gerd 👏 👏 👏 👏
Vielen Dank, lieber Gerd! Morgen ein weiteres Adventsstück, aber sehr kraftvoll und laut!
Thank you so much for introducing us to these hidden gems of organ literature.
Thank you! This is a beautiful suite!
Thanks for reminding about Pietro Yon’s Adventure Suite. Offertory sounds very pretty. ❤
Thanks Vidas.
A lovely performance on the gorgeous Mascioni Organ sample set of this charming 'Offertory' by Pietro Yon: bravo, Rien!
Thank you Graham. A lovely piece indeed!
Beautiful! What moving organ music, thank you dear Rien!
Thanks! I like this site a lot!
A calm interlude amidst the cacophony of a season when any thoughts of 'Come, Lord' seem increasingly absent.
Thanks! I agree with you. Especially the advent weeks are weeks of contemplation.
So very peaceful -- a perfect ending to my day. Thank you for this. I hope you have a blessed week.

@@RienSchalkwijk I look forward to hearing it!
It’s a lovely piece, and the light show matches it perfectly! 😊
Thank you! 😊
Very beautiful piece as well as your performance.
Thanks! :-)
Congratulations for this beautiful interpretation with such a pleasant registration.
Thank you Philippe! It’s a beautiful piece indeed!
Lovely! I have the entire suite. Have played the first piece for prelude during Advent. This one could be used anytime.
Thanks! It’s a beautiful piece. And like you said, usable the year round!
Very beautiful! I love your rendition!
Thanks Remi! This is indeed a beautiful suite!
Very nice work Rien. Bravo! Thanks for sharing your talent.

Mooi gespeeld Rien en leuke licht effecten.
Dank Nils! Een mooi rustig stuk inderdaad!

@@RienSchalkwijk That's interesting ... I'm always a bit slower than others, my version is about 5' Advent - actually I time to slow down ...

Agree Colin! I recorded three parts until now. I will release the Rorate Coeli next Sunday. That’s for me the most beautiful part.
