  • www.flippingfifty.com/getstro... Discover the perfect weights for women starting strength! "What's the Best Weight for me to lift as a beginner?"It's a frequent question for beginners and those pursuing menopause fitness when it feels like all the rules have changed. I recommend 3 pair: light 2-5# moderate 8-15# heavy 20-25 # That's only a very rough estimate and it's also got to be based on so much more like: sequence of exercise number of repetitions beginner or advanced small or bigger muscle groups compound or isolated exercise

    Ready to lift? This is the most-asked question for good reason! Choosing the right weights prevents injury and gets better results too! Looking for a planned program with no random exercise? www.flippingfifty.com/getstronger

    This was very helpful! It would be really interesting to hear more about that connection building between the muscle & connective tissue and the brain during the first 6-8 weeks of training.

    My mother had hormone replacement therapy (HRT)even though she wasn’t even experiencing the typical hot flashes when going through the change. Her doctor recommended HRT to prevent heart disease in old age. Well shortly after mom had been on HRT she developed breast cancer she truly believed it was a direct result of HRT, I’m 58 yrs old and will never consider HRT I don’t believe there is any “sweet spot” for HRT. Just my humble opinion I believe do no harm includes not taking HRT. I don’t need arms that look like Arnold, now I would prefer that my upper arms don’t wave when I wave goodbye with my hand but I take collagen supplement in my food through natural collagen. I think you have a lot to offer but pls do not suggest HRT, that truly scares me. God bless. 🥰❤️🍁🙏🏻🇨🇦

      Totally agree. Same with my mom. Life without HRT is just fine.

      Curious if she was taking synthetic or bioidentical cream?

      I’m a breast cancer survivor. My breast surgeon and medical oncologist say they see women in their offices with cancer while on traditional and bio identical hormones. 🤷‍♀️

      Don’t waste your money on collagen supplements. They don’t work and there’s no evidence showing they do.

    I’m in my 50’s and was doing great with progressive lifting as part of my menopausal body recomposition. The muscle I built amazed me and it filled out much of my loose, aging body skin - a bonus! And then my SI joint started hating me - and gave me signs which I, of course, ignored. Now I’m recovering yet worried about muscle loss, and how to restart after healing (or even during healing). Do you have ideas for maintaining muscle but not putting a load on the lower back?

      You might check into blood flow restriction bands. And if you have access to a power plate it may help you retain too. Boost your protein meanwhile. Speedy recovery!

    Do you swim on a regular basis and what stroke do you mostly use. Your muscle definition is fantastic!

      lol! Some if this may be tension!! But, lat pull downs, pull ups. But honestly I don’t do a lot of either. Once a week either.

    Do pushups count as strength training in?

    • @Flipping50TV
      @Flipping50TV  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They do.. Strength really is 10 or fewer reps. PUs are one of the trickiest exercises to do well without risk to shoulder. If you've got it, great! If you're vulnerable, there may be a better option for you
