I started skating in 1997! And then stopped in 1998! And now am looking to get back into it, after all these years. Looking at FR3s, but I don't have a skate shop locally, so I'm relying on lots of info from people like you on what size to order. I need to get to a Brannock device so I can make sure I know exactly how long my big-ass feet are...
Wow, that is a awesome video. I was going to send back the size 44 and Keep the 45, but today when I come home from work I Will take out the inliner on the 44 and check with the fingers. Thanks again!!
I was worried that my feet would get mushed against the front of the liner and cause problems to my toes after prolonged skating. I'm so glad I found this video before sizing up!
It's easy to see why you, and your shop are so successful! You appear to genuinely care about giving this information out to us instead of just caring about youtube stats. I wish I could buy skates from you but I am in Australia and would probably cost the same amount to ship as it does for the skate 🤪 I am now going to watch as many as your videos as possible because I am buying my very first skates!!! Thanks! Great video, very much appreciated! I just bought my first pair of Rollerblades, ever :0) and actually went for a pair like these. The new MB X Pro. I went for a size 9, but on the right foot it was so tight, pushing my big toe back, it felt just too tight. So I went for a size up, and added an insole, very feel much more comfortable now, just hope it's a good fit for learning to skate and skating in general. I will play with the insoles. Good to be reminded that we can tweak them. I would have like to have kept with the 9, for the left it was perfect, but the right, just too tight. Big Thanks for the top tips! Great Video! :)
FR1 vs Marcoblade for beginner? Looking to get inline skates that cost twice them when practice enough Also do all inline skates only have two buckles? Slightly thinking if had three or four then no need for laces too often and less time strap in as buckles be enough Also say 280mm feet would you say 280mm on shoe size or add extra? Unsure if say get 280mm they already added toe room to it so not at end
I also used some Bauer Speed plates for upsizing as I couldn't skate the 43/44 Imperials even with an Intuition liner anymore. The 45/46 worked very well with those. Actually the double sizing of the Imperials/Nexts is almost a disaster here, because nobody is really checking the way you explained in the video. For example someone with size 41 feet in a 41/42 skate, due to the tight liner it already feels snug. Often they go to the next size: 43/44, which will never really work obviously. Many end up with boots 2 or more EU sizes too big. Otherwise it would be a good system. With more information and maybe a bit better liners, or added materials like insoles for proper size adjustment. Or say you are only allowed to buy a skate after watching this video :-)
That would ve been a great title for this video, maybe I could’ve find it sooner, still in time tho, just going out today to check some Seba E3 Premium and was actually thinking between 44 or 45 size, as I’m 283 mm in length, but the shell sizes on the 45s are same as 47, so was quite in doubt what to do, at least now it’s clear, thanks OP for that, I’ll just go there, remove the liner and stick my fingers into it 😂 and hope only 1 and half fingers go in for the 44s.😅
I started inline skating when I was about 14 I think, but never really progressed that much. Now I'm 29 and took it up again, mostly on a pump track but I already tried the local bowl a little bit. I love it but sadly wacked my shoulder and now got to take a pause :/.
Just received a new pair of FR1s on which I can't wait to make clips about. This is a great take on what needs to be done on arrival of the skates 😁. Thanks for making this 🤜🏻🤛🏻
5:11 should've clarified, how are you suppose to put your fingers in? side by side or one right behind one another? Cuz I have the UFR 90 intuition size 40.5-41.5 and I have 27.1cm foot length and I can put 4 fingers side by side behind the heel with liner out. so you're telling me the skate is too big? when I find it too tight and it's already giving me discomfort?
just bought Rollerblade RB pro, coming tomorrow, now this video makes me freak out a bit haha, hope I got the right size. I got o used to Powerslide where even following the chart I would have to upgade 1 size up, wish I knew they were made for narrow feet and that mine were were more on the wide side. I tried the technique of the foot in the boot without liners and my EU41 Powerslide Imperial has almost the place for 2,5 fingers lol, but because of the narrow boot, my feet are well maintained but the pain annoys me too much, so let's see for the RB!
@@Thisissoul I had this one size 39-40 before that I sold, it was a lot of pain because they are too narrow for me, even with heat molding, but yeah they long for sure
Started in 2018. Also ordered the first set of Mushroom Blading 100mm wheels from you! Thanks ;) I see you have FR skates shells now. Could you please update your shell size xls with those? Also there were some missing sizes in that table from other models. Would you make it available from your website or any other place? Thanks, great work!
Hi, I have bought the Rollerblade Twister XT and they should have the right fit regarding the sizing table. I have also followed your steps to measure the perfect skate size. I have around 1 and 1/2 fingers space when I have my foot in the shell without the liner. But if I'm wearing the skates it feels like I'm constantly touching the toebox and that the liner has no room to expand length wise. Does the liner usually get thinner around the heel part? I had a few skate session but the feeling that my toe touches the toebox is still there. My footsize is roughly 271mm and I'm wearing 42/42,5
Hi, what could I do if i’ve just bough a pair of powerslide imperial 110 supercruiser and its my size but in the zone of the toes ,its too big , and my feet can “dance” and move freely??
I started skating in '92 with RB cool blades abt! unfortunately my skill level didn't really progress probably due to using the pad brake and not practicing power stops. with the Sebas I got a month ago I have been forced to learn downhill carving slowing down and working on my power stop. My e3 liner started off really rubbing and blistering my skin I think the rubbing has subsided a bit but it still digs. I'm hoping it will eventually break in all the way and stop hurting. I don't have the funds for a higher quality liner right now. Great video and subbed!
What about width fit? How should they feel? I just purchased my first pair of skates and although the length is adequate, I feel a pain point in my right outside arch, a bit lower than the bone part
I tried on a USA 9 FRX 80... Shell and liner was too small, and too short. Did the finger thing, didnt even have one finger in the back of the shell. I now have tried a USA 10 FR3 80, with almost three fingers room in the shell, length of liner is good, but loose around my feet. I also seem to be forcing against the cuff, why isnt the cuff supposed to move with my ankle flexion? It makes it so hard to mend my ankles. I have never rollerbladed before, but it seems like Im in the wrong style boot. Also seems like the bottom laces dont tighten at all, since the eyelet stays are so tight, and the shell is so stiff, the laces just stay loose at the bottom. Someone recommended flying eagle skates, as they said they are more narrow in the foot, and I noticed they have a model with a flexible shell...maybe a better fit for me... BUT! Wont I still struggle in a tall boot that doesnt articulate with my ankle? Is there some video that explains exactly how the cuff and top liner padding is supposed to fit around the legs? Thanks!
Hello! I've jusy got USD sway Sagona. I've got the 41-42. With the original liner (dual my fit), my foot wiggle, but with the reign Liner. No wiggle, it's comfortable but not very snug around my feet. There is also 2 fingers and half between the boot and my ankle without liner. I skate inside my house, it seems fine, but I'm worry if it will loosen up more with time. I've tried the 39-40 (with the dual my fit Liner) and it's very snug. Only my big toe is touching the boot. But unfortunately I didn't bent my knee to see a difference. Is my current boots are too big? With the reign liner its fine, but with the dual fit, my feet wiggle. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! My girlfriends feet are too thin for the boots. The length and the inner "vertical space" is ok but they move left or right in the liner wich is bad. Do you know about any solution? Is there any pad or sole that could thicken the foot ?
Hello!! How tight or smug should a skate be? I’m having trouble in choosing between Ue38 or 39. I will buy them online. In the 38, the insole measure es 24 cm. And my foot is around 23.9 cm. Is it too smug??
A skate should feel like somebody gives a good strong handshake around your foot. There is so much to foot sizing that just looking on length its hard to know if something will fit you just buy from our webshop thisissoul.com. best thing to do is take a trip to amsterdam and come and try the skates yourself
Well that's nice... but how does this apply to the 5th element? Last Skate I had was a Valo Agressive Mall Mad Magoose (Red) Size 42. My feet are 27cm. I had a M12 in 42,5 which was ... really tight... the 5th element sizes confuse me really hard. Right now I am guessing it's 41... but do you think i should even go 40? The Valo in size 42 fit so perfect it's scary.
Started skating - today. 10 minutes ago. and this was very helpful thanks! xD not too sure how to "mould" the "my fit liners" though, it comes with no instructions! xD
Amazing video man, your content has a lot of quality! I have a question for you regarding a possible problem with my frames. Do you know what to do when the frame starts pinching the bearing walls? They seem to be dragging them and reducing their speed. Do you have any recommendations for this? Or at least a possible video for you to do in the future? thank you very much! :)
Hey man, thanks for your videos! I followed the FR size guide and got 44 FR skates, when I tried them on my toes touched the front, but they don’t feel tight. Did your shell test and I’m exactly two fingers snugly fit behind my heel. Would you recommend going just a half size down to a 43. Or go to 42 to get a smaller shell? I want to go 42 but since street shoes are 45.5 I’m a bit skeptical…appreciate any help 🙏🏼
I tried putting on the shell of the FR2 without the liner and I have 2 fingers and some space behind my heel. I’m guessing it’s too big. The size of the FR2 I just got are 7.5US 40EU. I usually wear size 8 shoes. I measured my feet and they’re about 252mm long. Should I go to a 7US 39EU or lower?
check out our shell sizing list to know exactly what size difference there is between each size www.thisissoul.com/blogs/buyers-guide/what-size-to-choose
Hi Ivo, thank you for the video! I am a little confused tho because in your other video (where you explain about the shells with little Moses) you are saying that it’s better to have some room at the toes and that it is much more important to tighten the skates well so they hold your leg and the middle of the foot because that’s where control comes from...
It actually doesnt matter if your toes touch, you are right about that. The most important thing is that you have control and that doesnt come from your toes. it comes from the side and top of your foot. For somebody with a wide and high foot, it is not bad if they find a skate that fits them on the side and top and not have the toe touch, but if you have a normal foot, then yes, the toes very likely touch to also have the height and width correct because all these foot dimemsions are correlated.
Can you add captions to this video please? I bought some skates and I want to know if they fit properly but I can't watch this video because it's inaccessible to me as Deaf person
Great video with lots of useful info... Thank you! Got a FR1 black beauty (42) about a week ago, I skate it with the Reign V3 HT and it's nice and tight with toes touching and no foot or heel movement at all... I love these liners but I also want to try an Intuition at some point but not sure about the size there... My foot measures 26.5 cm, just where the "S" ends and the FR shell is MP27, just where the "M" starts... Do you recommend going for the smaller? Want to visit your shop for sure once times allow for normal travel again...
What if i can't really tighten my top buckle almost at all, but literally everything else fits just fine? (I can buckle maybe 3 -4 clicks) Worried I might torque the buckle and rip it back out through the cinch during a landing if I lean my shin too far forward
I have a question. Is it normal for new skates to feel a bit slow? I just tried out my new FR1 84 85A skates being used to 25 year old roces TARTARUGA skates with 72mm 82A wheels. Now in the past 20 years I have skated maybe 3 times so my condition is not what it used to be but just the difference in wheel size made me expect more in terms of speed. Will the bearings get faster once i've skated more? I started skating, probably around 1994.
If you have a new FR1 skate, then it should go super fast out of the box. It can also be the wind that day or some other factors that were playing. Other bearings will for sure not help you with speed.
So I recently bought a pair of new skates but the wheels are really stiff no matter how many times I use it I can barely turn around the corner do you have any tips to fix it?
the liner will break in for sure. So just skating it will solve the pain. its hard to bootfit the plastic itself at the heel area . A good insole might do the job as well!
Hey man, I bought FR FRX EU size 42/US 9. My feet are 26,9 and 27 cm and the liner's length is exactly 27 cm. Do you think it will be ok after some time? I mean I have tested them in shop for ~20 min and it was ok in terms of length. Right mid-foot was squeezed by the shell and it was a little uncomfortable but I wonder, will the liner lengthen or only become wider on the sides.
I’ve got the same foot lenght. Unfortunately in my city there isn’t an FR shop and i have to buy them online. So i’m asking you: How is the FR 42 for you? Does it fits well?
There is a video on youtube saying the toes should not touch the front. Why does everyone say so different? Does the fit also depend on how I'm gonna use my skates? Ie. Freestyle, aggressive etc
if the toe's do not touch, they are too big. the reason why you can find other people say they should not touch, is because they know people like it better if they dont touch. it usually is not nice for people if they touch, they have to get used to the feeling. You can ask all precision footware specialist and they will all tell you that footwear should have a tight fit. rock climbing, hiking, skiing, ice skating, wake boarding etc etc. they all need to be tight.
i have seba igor size 42, my feet is very wide but i have space of 1-2 cm in front of my toes, overall its tight, any tips to fill the gap in my toes in the front?
length is not really what you should worry about in the end of the day. its the pressure the skate can give you on the top and side of your foot that give you the control you want. There is a big correlation between with, height en length of a foot though, so usually when the toes dont touch, you should just get a smaller size.
I heard the sizing is fake and go by foot measurement, it like I wear EU46 shoes but on some skates in chart I be a EU43.5 so questioning how right it is, also often when looking up the size guide might say get same size or size down or up when looking at skate online
I have been skating since 1984 just went 77.4km on and old pair of rollerblade lightning 90mm just got a pair of rollerblade maximum edge 125 never had a pair so tight but I always did the half size up from my shoe size this time I measured my foot they fit just the way you said they should you have the best video I have seen on the subject

RB80 pro here as well, Im size 8 and got size 8 it never felt perfect now I know why. Got 2cm gap between toes and shell. Im almost an year into it but will be much wiser on my next purchase 7-7.5maximum.
@@filipivan5125 ya... this video really taught us alot too... Will look out for the size in future too.. and remember what was taught to us
I started skating in 1997!
I started skating 1995 😅 first skate was a Roces Rome. When the frame was gone I got some Majestic 12.
legendary
Wow, that is a awesome video. I was going to send back the size 44 and Keep the 45, but today when I come home from work I Will take out the inliner on the 44 and check with the fingers. Thanks again!!
Very helpful video, helped me get into my USD Aeon 80 teams. So much more going on with these than the skates I had been using.
Great 👍 video as always! I started back in 1992 👊
Nice!
I hope you have some spare FR cuffs and powerstraps coming in too.
we actually already have the straps in stock. :)
I saw, but I need different ones...
I'm looking for the Velcro straps (size S / 355mm) and some black FR cuffs (also size S).
I wish I could buy skates from you but I am in Australia and would probably cost the same amount to ship as it does for the skate 🤪
I am now going to watch as many as your videos as possible because I am buying my very first skates!!! SUBSCRIBED...
Dunno if you're still in the market, but if your order is over €150 from TIS you'll get free shipping. Yes, even in Australia.
amazing video! always super valuable content!
Hoping the heel trick works to make my inlines more spacious. Thanks a ton!
Looking to get inline skates that cost twice them when practice enough
Also do all inline skates only have two buckles? Slightly thinking if had three or four then no need for laces too often and less time strap in as buckles be enough
Also say 280mm feet would you say 280mm on shoe size or add extra?
Thanks for making this 🤜🏻🤛🏻
🌷 Hi my friend!
Great video.
Thanks for sharing
🔥🔥🔥 keep up the great work, thanks a lot
Great video! Wish I watched this before buying my first FRX (bigger almost a one size)
Good video!
just bought Rollerblade RB pro, coming tomorrow, now this video makes me freak out a bit haha, hope I got the right size.
2.5 fingers is allot man. you would be better off with the 39-40 imperial shell instead of the 41-42 shell
@@Thisissoul I had this one size 39-40 before that I sold, it was a lot of pain because they are too narrow for me, even with heat molding, but yeah they long for sure
Started in 2018. Also ordered the first set of Mushroom Blading 100mm wheels from you! Thanks ;)
I see you have FR skates shells now. Could you please update your shell size xls with those? Also there were some missing sizes in that table from other models. Would you make it available from your website or any other place? Thanks, great work!
you are right, we need to measure those still. there are allot of freestyle skates on the market that are not in that list
Hi,
I have bought the Rollerblade Twister XT and they should have the right fit regarding the sizing table.
Nice! the cutoff method really solve my problem! thank you!
can you do fitting analysis of aggressive skates?
that is the same
Hi, what could I do if i’ve just bough a pair of powerslide imperial 110 supercruiser and its my size but in the zone of the toes ,its too big , and my feet can “dance” and move freely??
Better to take one size smaller. Or use a pad, in the liner, that moves your feet up in the middle! The one we talk about in this video
Amazing video! Cheers from BCN.
Thanks for all your videos! They are very informative
Smaller wheels? Or make sure the bearings are in really well
I bought fr 1 size 45 because size 44 was to short for My fingers, but 45 Shell shares 45-47 so there is more than 2 fingers room 🤔 what should i do?
then skate the 43-44 shell with a thin liner
Should I go to a 7US 39EU or lower?
check out our shell sizing list to know exactly what size difference there is between each size

@@Thisissoul Thanks for the link, this has been really helpful. I wish I could visit your shop, but I'm in the states.
I did the finger test on my oxelo fm140: almost 3 fingers! 😭
THANK YOU GUYS!!
What thickness socks do you recommend for a good fit and performance? Great video on fitting a skate.
just normal sport socks are great
Hi Ivo, thank you for the video!
(I can buckle maybe 3 -4 clicks) Worried I might torque the buckle and rip it back out through the cinch during a landing if I lean my shin too far forward
that should not happen. 3-4 clicks is enough.
You can always buy a longer buckle though!

@@Thisissoul Awesome, thanks so much, I'll check the link
super helpful. Thanks mate.
Interesting video, and very informative. thanks bro
I can wiggle my heel pad a little bit up and down. Is that bad?
What do I do if everything feels really nice but the heel? It feels quite tight. Can it stretch?
the liner will break in for sure.
@@massimilianocultrona5104 returned it and bought rollerblade twister edge xt. FRX were not for my feet. I have them too narrow.
@@Thisissoul thanks! really appreciate your quick response! :) I'll keep my skates!
i have seba igor size 42, my feet is very wide but i have space of 1-2 cm in front of my toes, overall its tight, any tips to fill the gap in my toes in the front?
Same here, 2cm gap in the toe.
length is not really what you should worry about in the end of the day. its the pressure the skate can give you on the top and side of your foot that give you the control you want. There is a big correlation between with, height en length of a foot though, so usually when the toes dont touch, you should just get a smaller size.
I'm a size 10.5 uk , 45 EU should I get a bigger size or the same size , cause I'm worried on it being to tight or to lose
I heard the sizing is fake and go by foot measurement, it like I wear EU46 shoes but on some skates in chart I be a EU43.5 so questioning how right it is, also often when looking up the size guide might say get same size or size down or up when looking at skate online
May I ask , does this all apply to quad skates too ?
love the tips
How tight are your meant to do the buckles?
very tight
Yo guys, can you tell me if it is possible somewhere to buy the FR1 as only boot version?
Some years ago yes, not now.
@@pablocueto8561 Do you know if there is any particular reason why? Thanks for the response anyways.
Idk, some shops sells the next and roces hardboots and sebas
Very informative
Aren't your toes gonna hurt after a while if they touch the front, even if they go back when bending forward??
not necessarily. I wouldnt skate any skate that is so big that my toes do not touch
