I wish I could find a flat enough space with little traffic like that. Just started teaching myself how to skate and mostly having trouble turning and stopping. Watching you explain it and then her putting it into practice really helped!
tennis courts, parking lots, some skateparks, or even abandoned buildings and warehouses are what i use. If there’s a roller rink, usually the middle is left for u to do whatever and u can skate there
Man I remember that struggle big reason why i stopped skating for a time when I lived back in the states. Now I am lucky to live here in Japan early morn midday and and nights I have so many free open skate spots just here in Osaka. It’s a blessing I am truly grateful for! Hell even skating up at Osaka castle is a blast!
I think your wife is cute and funny. You're an amazing teacher mah-man, the way you explain the stops are more understandable than other video tutorials I've seen. Can't wait to try them next time I'm out on skates either tonight or tomorrow morning.
omg she did a great job!! :D I just got my pair of inline skates after maybe 23 years of getting my first one (I just realized after writing this down how scary it sounds because it's been a while and daaamnn time goes fast lol). Anyways, I'm excited. I became so sedentary after quitting the gym 3 years ago and I've been wanting to fall in love with exercise again. I'll make it happen 💜Thank you for all the tips!
This is exactly what I needed, I just started skating and I'm learning my foundational exercises and skills so it will be awhile before I actually go out and skate but learning how to stop could help me now and how to change direction smoothly without stuttering or getting stuck would be awesome :D
T-stops are good to know for when you need to stop on a dime (basically emergencies) but I always avoid them if I can since they will wear out your wheels (particularly your right skate wheels) because of the added friction. If possible, smoothly do a U-turn and that's all you need to stop. I like to add some flair and do a 180 to fakie and then U-turn into powerslide if necessary but that's just me.
I have an idea for a business. Make a hall, and above there are metal pipes or similar which are holding ropes which you can tie to you. The ropes are so long that if you fall, it will hold you. So it's impossible to fall and you are free to move. You can now do whatever you want without having fear to hurting yourself. You can patent that and make a business out of that. Im too poor to execute it but if I had money I would definitely do that.
Great vid. Tough to work w your wife and be the teacher. Y'all did fantastic. Your marriage looks awesome and strong. She has a great laugh too. Genuine.
I have the same skates as your wife, my first pair as well! I bought some new wheels and the bearing whole is to small, so I will be buying a new frame soon.
Thank you so much for the T’s! 😅 but seriously I have been struggling with the stopping. I have a brake on my right foot in the back but it’s hard to figure out how to stop by using that brake. If not Im gonna continue doing it the ways you taught. Thank you! 👍🏽
That was such a fun, vibrant, video tutorial! You guys are having so much fun, how are your skills a year on! I'm just learning to stop, do thanks for the great teas ;)
Great job folks I can't wait to show Meme I got to get her out there with me I just started in line I'm having tons of fun the first day love your enthusiasm I will show her this video bon travail
@RicardoLino Wow, I hope that I can do half of that, when I get a pair from your shop here in Cape Town. I haven't skated for decades. Last time I skated it was at a Roller Skating Club here, doing artistic skating. So, I'll be doing what you taught Janice, when i get by blades. Thanks bro!
Thanks. Me and your wife are at the same level. Video made me laught as well as showed the true fun side rollerblading. Keep smiling and helping us Norma peeps.
imo she will decide if wear or not protects , i mean , if you're not trying nothing new and in a place you know very well, yeeah use protections are recomendable but not mandatory
@@ruinaldosiempre My wife, as well as Ricardo's, was practicing brakes yesterday. She used to think I was exaggerating when telling her to wear protective gear, but after falling on her back and hitting the concrete with her head, now she doesn't think the same way.
Never knew you are suppose to push the skates out during that first stop!! No wonder I always seem to be going faster rather than stopping when doing those
It's portugal isn't it? I could swear I have been on that path once, I remember that beachline, the building on the mountainside or however it's called (I'm no native sorry). I was traveling with a bicycle all along the coastline at that time, it looks so familiar. Great for skating as I now know and quite unique, at least I have never seen something like that along my journey. Here I went to the playground at night for my first try outside and last sunday I went to the industrial area. Now I hope I will be ready for some bike lanes soon, they are far worse that the ones you have got.
Hello Ricardo I have some speed skates s and Iv not Long started again my wife like your I’m trying to learn her to skate can you help me in tilps The other think is I’m getting through my wheels fast they’re wearing out my middle well what does that mean I like to now. ..... 🤗
Dude How funny, your wife got the skates I had bought for the first time and I did try to put one of My feets without taking the paper from one side lmao
LOVE IT! YES!!! You guys are so cute! Love the beach and the sunshine, too. Your skating areas look so wide - and fairly smooth! Oh yeah, and your stopping teaching is pretty good. (I just already knew most of it. ; ) Skaters where I live kinda get the dregs. We have skate parks, rough pavement and all of one trail with some gravel that can clip us.... and that cyclists use to zip by us, and that even horses cross. And clueless pedestrians and the horses have right-of-way. (The trail gets very busy on the week-ends - and is kinda narrow. No real place here for skaters to learn, so I often skate in the street with our local skateboarders. Even then, it may not always be permitted.) I wish we had the type of outdoor space you all have. That would be awesome! But I make do with what I have and have fun with it, anyway. And sometimes we can travel to better locations. = )
You and your family are so adorable. I love watching yall. Felt like I was hanging out with yall. I love your videos. I've skated in quads back in the 80s and 90s and somewhere in the mid 90s my ex and his brother asked if I've ever tried rollerblades. I said no they look harder to skate on. His brother wore about the same size I did at the time. I moved about 5ft and sat down and took them off and handed em back to him and said nope nope nope. All yours. You can have em. I haven't touched rollerblades since. In the late 90s, I had a bad ankle twisting accident with quads and I haven't touched any skates since. That was at a rink and they had a stupid step down into the rink. 🤦♀️🤷♀️ I mixed up my footing and my ankle went in 90°. Worst pain of my life. On the sofa all summer. I've barely touched my bike too. Well, here we are in 2022 in my almost mid 40s and went to my nephews birthday party and he picked skating. I actually wasn't going to skate. I'm over the accident and it doesn't control my life. I have full function of that ankle, but wasn't going to skate. Rental was included during his party and I felt if I don't, I'm gonna regret not skating. Or at least trying, even if on the carpet only. So I did. Once I got enough courage to get on the rink floor, thought I'd skate a few laps and call it done. It's been 25 or 26 yrs since I (I guess) factured my ankle. The other night, I didn't fall. Definitely wobbly. Tired and sore from not using those muscles like that in decades. Still fun. So I found a good barely used pair or rollerblades. Excited for them to arrive. I'm hoping with the longer wheel base, it'll be more stable than quads. Quads I just can't get past the fear and feeling of falling backwards even with leaning forward. Thank you to the moon and back for your time & videos about skating and most importantly the stopping and turning. Crossing my fingers I pick this up pretty good.
Very good tutorial :)
Obrigado Helder
It's really nice to see someone who is actually learning how to stop on video. It gives a better idea of how akward I might look while learning.

Practicing will help even more.
Stopping tutorial starts at 5:25, for anyone trying to learn on-the-go like I was!
"I have no patience, not with him." hahaha too good.
Ah, she's so cute. You guys are great.
Never skated before and my new skates turned up today! This video was well timed. I'll be practising all 3 ways to stop. Thanks.
Updateeeee pleaseeee?

As a teacher myself I can always recognise a good teacher when I see one. Ricardo Lino is one of them.

Thanks. Me and your wife are at the same level. Video made me laught as well as showed the true fun side rollerblading. Keep smiling and helping us Norma peeps.
Ricardo, please make your wife wear protective gears!
Same thoughts, knee pads, wrist pads and helmet, are essential. Especially for loved ones.
I think that she has brain to knows it 😊
Protective gear is gay
imo she will decide if wear or not protects , i mean , if you're not trying nothing new and in a place you know very well, yeeah use protections are recomendable but not mandatory

this is the absolute best video ive seen in instructions on how to stop! thank you for all the tips and explanation!
Good teaching good training and good couple ❤
Such an adorable couple 😍😍
Thanks for the lesson,I got problems stopping resulting in a bruised backside and sprained wrist.
25y ago when I was riding I just learned the T and did not know about the other stops:) it worked :D
Never knew you are suppose to push the skates out during that first stop!! No wonder I always seem to be going faster rather than stopping when doing those
Cute pair of instructors, I will be watching more videos from both.👍🏼👍🏼
Can you do a video 3 Ways To Stop (My Girlfriend From Complaining About Me Skating)?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣 Just go out and roll - so you don't hear her! 🙃🤭
Get her to skate
1) buy her skates
2) teach her to skate
3) go out and skate WITH her
There. No more complaining
@@diminished2nd honestly this is the winner lmao
Nice T-stop!!

Were you by chance on a visit to lebanon ? I think i saw you skating on one of marina's shores !!!! And I was so Inspired!
Fantastic training/advice, very fun.

Same question
Like the video so much, many thanks for sharing the skills and love
