The softball thing that gets me is how some left handed batters run at the ball and then swipe at it in a downward motion like they are trying to knock the first robin of spring to the ground.
They're going to just need to have all attempts at home plate become force-outs. That protects all of the players well enough. Play at the plate has become unmanageable, just like pass interference.
Are we not going to discuss the runner in the last clip with the pop-up running like there were 2 outs instead of 1 which was shown on the broadcast? Broadcast mistake or mistake not throwing to first for the double play?

By the rulebook, the catcher was blocking the lane before she had the ball. This seems like it's the correct call per the rulebook, don't set up in the lane. Set up outside the lane, then move into the lane once you get the ball. If you don't like it, blame the rule, not the umps.
I watch MLB and NFL religiously but college softball is quickly becoming one of my favorite sports along with those 2. Glad to see the games getting more prime time coverage.

I watched some of the conference tournaments for the first time and was extremely entertained. I love the high energy, competitiveness, pitching motion (so satisfying for some reason), the slap hits, that every play is bang bang, lots of home runs, more base runners, and extremely skilled fielding. It’s objectively more exciting spectator sport than baseball.
my daughters have played since they were young. It's a whole different energy. We were front row above the dugout at Clemson Regional Saturday. Had a bubble machine the entire game they were playing with. Had a pirate ship replay during the 4th inning stretch. 60 foot base paths, lots of "attitude", bunting, slap hitting and runner advancing intentionally.
Terrible. Catcher wasn't even blocking before she had the ball. She puts her knee/leg down after catching the ball. Perfect play ruined by terrible umps.
I had a player i coached a few years ago that licked his bat. I switched area schools and we ended up playing them. A little trash talk was going on and one of my kids in the dugout noticed the bat lick. Next time he goes to lick the bat my guy yells "you're bat says stop. Youre breath stinks and cant take no more." Unfortunately that was the highlight of the game for us because the beat the hell out of us.

There was a really bad blown HR call in the Indiana/Louisville game. Indiana batter hit one of the top edge of the fence, ball bounced back into center field but the ump prematurely ruled a HR. Could not review it because it should have been a live ball.
Not sure how or why it started but my sophomore year of high school I started kissing my bat right on the barrel every time I went to the plate. Figured I might as well love my equipment so it loves me back. When I got to college all my teammates made fun of me for it but I’ll never go back

That's not what the boys at my rec center thought when they were talking trash to one of the girls who was a softball pitcher. She was one of the top pitchers in the state. She had an ERA under one, was undefeated her last two years in HS, and led her team to the state title twice. She had multiple Div I scholarship offers. And these clowns were claiming they could hit dingers off of her easily. Being one of the counselors, I had access to the outside fields. And since it was an inside evening program they attended, more importantly, I had keys to the lights. I told the young lady if she wanted, I could set up the field the next night, and she could embarrass them. She agreed happily. I told the boys this, and they said OK. The next night I got the field ready and we were all out there warming up. I noticed the boys were a lot less talkative when they saw how hard she was throwing. You have less time to react, the ball is harder to pick up because of the angle of release, and it also moves a lot differently than baseball. Not a single one of them got a legit hit off of her, and only a couple even made contact. The ones they managed to get a piece of, werent even close to being fair. After they were done eating crow, and listening to me talk trash, the boys told me to try. I just barely managed to get a couple solid line drives to stay fair, with one that cleared the fence. But I had a huge advantage. I was several years older, I'd played ball for years at several levels and had played fast pitch and A league softball. The boys gave her a lot more respect after that.
