A lot of PSVR2's performance is thanks to foveated rendering. Basically fully rendering out only the small portion of the screen that your eyes are looking towards at any given time (this is why eye tracking should be standard). I think these story based hero shooters could become huge one day. Right now the problem is grind. You're not advancing the story, you're just playing the same missions over and over and over and over again. That quickly burns out anyone with half a brain. Once the story and environments can be done by A.I. though, you'll never play the same mission twice. The AI could write 50 missions a day and create new arenas for each of them. It becomes a never ending story that you and your friends can play for hours a day, always getting something new. It won't be tomorrow, but I could see a concept like that happening in about 10 years.

I had a phobia now everytime I'm seeing highbudget cutscenes and cinematics. Let's be real if they keep doing this, they should make a Movie instead. Just put the gameplay cuz nobody buys a game just to watch it.
Hey at least most of these games are coming pretty soon. As an xbox fan i cant wait to see almost every game in the xbox showcase to once again be a cinematic with no release date.
It's understandable that astro bot stole the show. ASTRO vr game as farm ad I am away is a beloved vr game. And Astros playroom that was given away with every ps5 absolutely stile many people's hearts. Everybody was screaming for a full fledge astro bot game sense playroom. That's why sony ended with it. They knew it was going to be awesome. They knew people are going to be hyped up about it. This is one of their biggest games they are releasing this year. I'd be shocked it doesn't do well.
The trailer was also really well cut, packed with content and brought the energy. I think they may have also been eager to show so much of it to make it clear that it was a full game and not a small freebie. I am quite sad that this one doesn’t also support VR as well.
Yeah none of that initial trailer for Concord seemed like a 5v5 arena shooter. Seemed like a GotG style narrative 3rd person shooter. There's nothing unique or interesting about it tho tbh
I don't know. It reminded me alot of the Fairgames, Hyenas etc... trailers. The distinctly indistinct array of characters, the back and forth with some less defined enemies, an ultimately meaningless job etc..
I disagree that people have to permanently make Concord their go to game. People play multiple games that are similar all the time and bounce between them. In the past I would play Paladins for a few days then switch over to Overwatch. People can and often do have multiple games they play. So while I get your criticism I think your expecting people to not bounce back and forth when we know this happens all the time.
There are too many multi-player out that have already solidified their positions that people try these games for a month and go back to the game they have been playing for years
this State of Play was more for us the PC users than the PS ones but tbh Concord will most likely floop on PC cause of different reasons and there will be a backlash for GOWR even tho we all know that the game is awesome and as for Astrobot it be a good game but it's not the game that will sell u millions of PS consoles
The rumblings are that the new leadership will refocus back on their traditional single player offerings. So next year there’ll be more to show in that style. There are some things we know are in development along those lines (Ghost of Tsushima 2, Wolverine) but they won’t release this year.
More than 50% of the revenue on PS Store is coming from a hanful of games (Warzone, Fortnite, GTA V, Apex, FIFA). Those are the ones Sony is trying to understand.
I’m excited (as I knew I would be) about Monster Hunter Wilds. They even brought Little Miss Forge back from MHGU. Other than that, the Astro game actually looks pretty solid, which was the last thing I though Id say. Then theres POE2 as well, which Im sure cant be as much as a letdown as Diablo 4.
Is it just me or isn't disrespectful that they literally waste a slot in their showcases every time showing a PC!.. port for one of their games when they're suppose to dedicate the show to the people who bought their box. Imagine showing a game that's gonna look better on other hardware than your own at a PS5 at your OWN!.. showcase. 👀
Love the State of Play. Sony announced a hero shooter that no one cares about and then showed off a direct competitor to said hero shooter that people do care about! And then mostly a bunch of 3rd party slop that is going to release sometime and then Astro Bot which feels like the last remnant of the Sony that everyone used to love in the PS1 and PS2 days...and they showed off all the IP they killed off in the past few generations because they are not AAA cinematic enough! Way to go, Sony. Way to go.
I feel like the only game to which i'm the target audience for are the souls clones, and even then they all make you wish you were playing a fromsoftware game.
So their big game, Concord, is just a Guardians Of The Galaxy ripoff that’s wants to be Fortnight, but is afraid of the looter shooter moniker so they are spinning it as a narrative single-player, character/story driven experience? Yeah, we e never seen that before. It sounds like a banger that’ll make a killing at launch.
Those are literally Peter, Gamora, Drax, Groot and even Rocket clones. This feels like focus group, executive committee driven decision making (with a little AI writing support thrown in) that never ends well. It tries to appeal to everyone but ends up attracting no one bc it’s so generic and trend chasing.
Why do devs bother with world building and backstories with multiplayer only games that don’t even have a campaign? Concord: “In a world… full of witty and quirky characters, where cartoonish heroes shoot to save the souls of live service servitude and fortify it with fortitude. Watch over your allies as they attempt to xdefyx the gravitational pull of defeat.” Hero shooters are so damn lame. Oh well, another game made for kids that I’ll be happy to skip.

There’s a bit of mobility that goes 3d which might give it an interesting feel. Its the only difference setting it apart.
31:33 he thought of shouting "Who the fuck on Earth is playing this fucking game full of crap...!!!" I could tell from his eyes. I know that look 😁😁😁
31:31 perfect reaction
I disagree that people have to permanently make Concord their go to game. People play multiple games that are similar all the time and bounce between them. In the past I would play Paladins for a few days then switch over to Overwatch. People can and often do have multiple games they play. So while I get your criticism I think your expecting people to not bounce back and forth when we know this happens all the time.
I feel like if concord was more like a mission base 5 person co-op with a continuous story like payday it would do a lot better
There are too many multi-player out that have already solidified their positions that people try these games for a month and go back to the game they have been playing for years
I wouldnt say those are GotG isnpired, thats just classic archetypes
this State of Play was more for us the PC users than the PS ones but tbh Concord will most likely floop on PC cause of different reasons and there will be a backlash for GOWR even tho we all know that the game is awesome and as for Astrobot it be a good game but it's not the game that will sell u millions of PS consoles
Truly awful. Sony doesn't understand what their core base wants, and the core base were the only ones who watched this presentation.
The live service stuff is disappointing. It’s a holdover from their prior CEO, Jim Ryan, that wanted to move in this direction
Yeah man 💯 agreed. This presentation is next level garbage.
The rumblings are that the new leadership will refocus back on their traditional single player offerings. So next year there’ll be more to show in that style. There are some things we know are in development along those lines (Ghost of Tsushima 2, Wolverine) but they won’t release this year.
@@Majorwindy I hope that's true, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I think the Until Dawn remaster looks worse than the original.
I don't get why PlayStation wants u to link ur account for God of war cause now they're gonna lose profit for the other countries. Makes no sense
Jokes in CONCORD have the vibe of dialogues in new Saints Row.
Is it just me or isn't disrespectful that they literally waste a slot in their showcases every time showing a PC!.. port for one of their games when they're suppose to dedicate the show to the people who bought their box. Imagine showing a game that's gonna look better on other hardware than your own at a PS5 at your OWN!.. showcase. 👀
Jup. Thats why i switched from console to PC. And, oh boy, its so much better. Thanks sony.
"we risk our lives everyday to do the job". Powerful quote
Concord is basically overwatch but with characters lacking any sex appeal. Who greenlit this just does not know why hero shooters work
"You're looking for Silent Hill 2/Two/Too/To/Dos???"
How come Sony, which used to have all the amazing first party titles now shows off a hero shooter and PC release of a years old game?
Suck a shame.
I agree with everything you said about concord
Path of exile and monster hunter is what I’m hyped for
Why do devs bother with world building and backstories with multiplayer only games that don’t even have a campaign?
Concord: “In a world… full of witty and quirky characters, where cartoonish heroes shoot to save the souls of live service servitude and fortify it with fortitude. Watch over your allies as they attempt to xdefyx the gravitational pull of defeat.”
Hero shooters are so damn lame. Oh well, another game made for kids that I’ll be happy to skip.
Just never understood the love of the new God of War games.
Still passed about ragnarok. Game was so boring. Wish I had the will to go back and finish it. 2018 GoW was excellent. Disappointing.
More like “Blooper” Team………
I guess we can’t have nurse lady lumps anymore in 2024…………
