Try a “pacifist” assassin - combined illusion mage with stealth - pacify everything until boss, kill boss from stealth
No matter what you do, all classes end up as stealth archers. Its the cannon event. Fighting against it is just delaying the inevitable
Stealth Mage is also highly underrated: destruction, illusion, alteration, Conjuration for summons and bound weapons (bow and dagger), and alchemy.
Edit: I meant a stealth mage/arcane assassin combo
Ordinator has a few perks that make pure stealth mage very viable. Like the perk that makes your spells scale with sneak if you cast them undetected.
A nightblade? This is my preferred play style. Especially with the new Anniversary spells
My current playthrough is a nightblade, using no armor or archery. I’m only playing on adept but I’m level 34 atm with zero deaths. I’d say it’s great! Very nice video as always.
My main build was a nord with 2 handed weapons in heavy armor, then blacksmithing and enchanting, to that conjouration
Made me feel like an overlord beeing able to summon 2 dremora warrior who fought for me

I used to play a rogue/ blade dancer build, light armor, in left hand u have dagger in right hand u hold sword, both with draining enchantments health/stamina additional using sneaking attacks.
best class is crafter. It does everything the others do, but better.
I did a pure mage playthrough but with high enchanting all the magic started to cost nothing and it became boring. In my another attempt I prepared a pure mage character who could not use enchanting skill (but could use found/stolen/bought enchanted items) and could use alchemy to improve damage of spells. It was much more demanding but also more rewarding. Both playthroughs on legendary difficulty.
I find mage type builds to be kinda lacking when playing on legendary since you have to rely on potions to increase your damage, which is not required when doing any other build that relies on weapon damage. Weapon damage is just so much easier to get to high levels and less of a hassle than having to prepare fortify destruction potions for every fight.
True but also alchemy is easy to level, especially with AE. And with AE spells it’s easily the most powerful build. You can clear camps with the press of a button.
most overpowered broken classic is crafter. once you hit that smithing and enchanting the games over nothing stands in your way
I disagree with the first one in all honesty. Spell swords are cool and are good later levels but being closer range means you need more points in health than is preferable. I find pure mage or pure warrior of any kind to be superior.
I think one of my strongest characters in the 13k hours i have on skyrim was my battlearcher.
Heavy Armor Archery and Alchemy were my main stats with a secondarys in Illusion and Sneak
Sneaking in heavy armor is actually very viable. Sneak is based off of movement, lighting, and armor weight. So the heavier your armor the bigger penalty you have. The muffle perk cuts that armor weight noise in half and the spell removes it. The steed stone helps and the conditioning perk also helps remove your weight when sneaking.
Alchemy is insane in skyrim, you get alot of money, healing, damage, and even resistances. Quick to level too.
Archery is probably the strongest damage dealing thing in skyrim so thats a givin.
Its basically a tank with stealth archer damage that branches out into illusion and at really high levels conjuration.
150 magicka 300 health 150 stamina by level 30 will leave you sitting pretty.
Items you can run with is boethia's ebony mail for muffle on heavy armor, nightengale bow, krosis (yea its light armor but still really good for this build), Otar, rahgot, potions of paralasis all are good picks for items. Prioritise your sneak and health over archery damage due to paralasis potions being overpowered

Because who wants to look at a mans ass when they want to play?... Jokes aside, playing as a female in skyrim is beneficial due to some perks dealing with the opposite sex. The Agent of Dibella, Lover's Insight, or the Allure perk in speech are examples of this. Most of the humanoid traders, and enemies are male so it's a free bonus that gets applied more than if you play as a male. Every bonus helps on higher difficulties
