is it me but red bull are taking over BIG time. bikes, cars, planes, power boats diving the list is endless..!! all i can say is thank god for red bull :)
1:00 great example of countersteering, you can see it clearly!! amazing video, love how he pushes his bike down, touches the tarmac with the knee and pushes the bike even further, still sliding his knee!!!
A true testament to how amazing the motorcycle tire technology is these days. He's pushing both tires all the way through the turn without so much as a hiccup! RAD!
Knee down was originally done so the riders would know the grip limit of the bike, also it helps with stability as it gives the bike a third point of contact with the floor (front wheel, back wheel, knee)
A bike racer can use the knee to push against the ground to lift the bike back up and regain control under certain circumstances. It can also help the rider gauge the angle of lean.
@TheErikTakesPole First, 25 - 30 is the normal speed, the eye is capable of over 200 fps, but that is in extreme circumstances. Your not seeing 1000 fos when your watching this video, your seeing around 30. The camera shot the footage at 1000 fps, and was slowed down to ~30, thats why the video in such slow motion
@TehFunk101 That's how he always rides. lol The commentators often have to stop mid-sentence just to say "Wow" at how he basically drifts a lot of his corners while turning. If you watch his path on the track, he's often laying down rubber coming out of turns. Fantastic sport to watch. Red Bull GP on July 24 at Mazda Raceway (aka Laguna Seca). Watching them take the corkscrew with massive lean, picking it up, then laying it over to the right in sequence all downhill is absolutely amazing. :D
I still don't get what you mean, the amount of frames per second has nothing to do with how fast or slow the video moves, it's just the amount of frames being displayed in a second. You can have a sped up video at 1000 frames, or slow video at 1000 frames. Having more frames just allows you to slow a video and see a lot more data points without any noticeable affect to the smooth appearance of the video.
Holy hell is all I can say - As a motorcyclist myself, I can only dream of being this fearless . . if it wasn't for the fear of death that is. at 0:57 he's not only well and truly past 35* he's also letting the rear end slide slightly AND he's countersteering on top of all that. Next to Rossi, the man's a GOD!
Slide + lean angle = most impressive riding style ever. /watch?v=qpWsDROVvuI not spam, just an unbelievable corner taken on a Ducati by the world's best rider.
Maybe Casey should watch this and remind himself of why he rides in MotoGP. He has a gift and after he retires, he won't be able to replicate that feeling he describes anywhere else, not in F1 and definitely not in V8 Supercars.
@emiljou Yes, but hardly any in that much in that shot. Just look up motorcycle drifting and you'll see much more extreme circumstances of drifting. Stoner is definitely a slide king.
they only show 1 or 2 corners? release all the footage, even if you think it sucks and i bet you'll have over a million views in under a week. this shit is gold
Who did Rossi beat when winning those chanpionships, Carlos Checker, Alex Creville, Max Biagi. Now they were absolute stars. Since the likes of Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo have been on the scene, he has won very little.
i understand that, i'm an engineering major bud. but what's the point of getting specifically the knee down? i'm sure you can lean fine by having your knee close to the bike.
well, I'm not an engineer. but for what I know its for balance. I know you can corner without putting the knee down but it could be dangerous and can result in a crash beacuse the position on the bike is wrong. Taking corners with the knee down is much faster than normal leaning. Just my opinion as a rider. You'll understand more when you take a corner at highspeed. hope I helped you bud.
Stoner is a beast on the Honda. You all can say Rossi is the king, but on the new Ducati he WILL NOT win a race this year. Ducati is running his bike to get a jump on next years move to the 1000cc class, plain and simple Rossi's bike is not meant for the 800cc class. There is no denying Stoner can ride his bike, the Honda's have a new transmission this year that kill everything.
Of all the motorsports I watch, MotoGP, by far, has the best cameras and cameramen I've seen. Amazing work.
damn... this slow motion shots are insaneeeeee!! gives me chills every time.. what this guys do for a living is magic!!!!
I love 1000 fps shots like this. Best one yet. Keep up the good work Red Bull.

This vid is MIGHTILY impressive, what a pleasure it is to see Stoner slide at 1000 fps and at such an angle.
Wow wow wow
Very awesome. Wheels still spinning super fast in the corner in super slow mo.
do this everyday when i go to work on my burgman, something new on this vid?
just kudding!
absolutly awesome!!!

Amazing footage
Whew... Jaw Dropping! you can see his elbows touches the tarmac already... what a rider.. Alien Rider!
amazing been meaning to watch this for ages.. finally do and its amazing! :D
Forget about Casey, that glance back at 0:08 was twice as impressive!
This channel is just a soup of awesome!
A bike racer can use the knee to push against the ground to lift the bike back up and regain control under certain circumstances. It can also help the rider gauge the angle of lean.
@emiljou Yes. He taps his rear brake, throws it over and starts a long slide around the corner. This is common for him. It sets up his tight exits.
so awesome!
The knee can be used to assist in lifting a bike along with steering and adjustment of body position.

Poetry in Motion!!

Most talented rider ever. He could ride any bike and win on any track any condition 😁
Simply amazing.
I wish I was excited by cars. I'd live longer. But nothing a car can do will ever be like this.
The really number one: Casey Stoner
watch in widescreen in 1080p and check out the slight 2wheel drift through the apex...and the pulses from the exhaust!!! Epic!
This contradicts the laws of physics.....one word for two words for stoner....the best...
soo awesome!!

That was a extraordinary move ~
@TheErikTakesPole about 25 - 30 is the normal eye "recording speed", the people who said 100 are wrong
Unbelievable!
One of the last beautiful motorsports
Best riding cesay stoner..
Holy hell is all I can say - As a motorcyclist myself, I can only dream of being this fearless . . if it wasn't for the fear of death that is.

@Diwnaia he was champion in 2007 also!
the blur you see is due to the way is rendered and the frames "blur" together. you can disable this, but the video looks choppy.
AMAZING !!!
nice video
@topinistikun such a good battle that race
Amazing
Very nice. What camera was used?
1º!
very nice!!! awesomw preoduction!
@DucRacerX you saw it coming bro! did you tip on the fantasy league?
Slide + lean angle = most impressive riding style ever.
/watch?v=qpWsDROVvuI not spam, just an unbelievable corner taken on a Ducati by the world's best rider.
awesome !
the guy was almost hugging the road! wow
Maybe Casey should watch this and remind himself of why he rides in MotoGP. He has a gift and after he retires, he won't be able to replicate that feeling he describes anywhere else, not in F1 and definitely not in V8 Supercars.
Many friends of mine can do the front part but the ending at the ending part is so much difference...
@emiljou Yes, but hardly any in that much in that shot. Just look up motorcycle drifting and you'll see much more extreme circumstances of drifting. Stoner is definitely a slide king.
I'm definitely gonna miss this rider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they only show 1 or 2 corners? release all the footage, even if you think it sucks and i bet you'll have over a million views in under a week. this shit is gold

CASEY
That's insane.
Who did Rossi beat when winning those chanpionships, Carlos Checker, Alex Creville, Max Biagi. Now they were absolute stars. Since the likes of Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo have been on the scene, he has won very little.
the angle is one thing man, but do you see that the rear tire is sliding?!? I did that too and felt like hell xD
i understand that, i'm an engineering major bud. but what's the point of getting specifically the knee down? i'm sure you can lean fine by having your knee close to the bike.
wow drift grip through the corner.
LIKE A BOSS
@Morganfunki Do you mean he is too aggressive on the track? How aggressive is too aggressive? What did he do that he shouldn't?
Casey needs an elbow slider as well as his knee slider. Man that is an unbelievable lean angle :)
magnifique
@Svetje46 Really??? Well I never!! A Rossi fan who doesn't like Casey! How unusual ;)
sick
sweet
okay ive heard of dragging a knee, but dragging an elbow?!?!? come on, that's nuts!
@wkmitchell I think he has like a metal plate on the suits elbow.
@ninjabearsinc2 it was a figure of speach against the 15 haters of the video
Champion full stop
yes but blur in REAL LIFE is caused because something is moving too fast for your eyes to see but if you take out the blur youll get a headache
I think redbull need to start a motogp team
Dang. Thats cool
Elbow on tarmac... mad
i love slo-mo

I feel like at that much lean and that much speed I would slide out. awsome that they can do that
Er, take that back - Rossi was on a Yamaha when Stoner won his championship!
Stoner is a beast on the Honda. You all can say Rossi is the king, but on the new Ducati he WILL NOT win a race this year. Nice
watching the first part in 1080p looks like a trailer for a moto gp game lol
mad skils, did someone already say that?
pff at 0:35 he can't even get his knee down :p
He has an awsome riding style look at his bodypositioning when he accelerates out of the corner. WOW!
Stoner is Rossi's MASTER....no if's or buts about it.
Casey stoner
RIP Marco
Maximum lean and still sideways? Just amazing
That's fucking mental. Elbow scraping doing at least three figures, and banking over that far, like I said, mental...
Wicked.
