I admire your great resolve in handling this setback and forcing the companies hand into taking care of the customer! Kudos to you for being the consumer advocate! Keep up the Great work!!
I own a Neon and I am replacing the battery. Thank you for saving me time and frustration. I have en joyed my scooter and have ridden it almost 200 miles I am year and a half. Yesterday after riding it twice it failed to start and run. I did find that if I pushed it and pressed the power button it would give me error codes 2 and 13.
I have the exact same problem and symptoms as you described on this and previous video. I’m trying to get them to fix it for me because I don’t have the tools and the handy hands as you do. Apart from replacing the battery, do you think if there is any other ways to resolve this? Mine was shutting down and I was able to turn it on the next day and then it shuts down again. Repeat the same thing the next day 😢
@@ttrieu21 no. I don't beleive there is. The batterry management system is built into the batterry. It's a very sophisticated circuit system. It's likely unhappy with some information it's reading from the batteries and is shutting the unit it down for safety. In other words. To prevent a fire. It is possible that there is something else going on. Impossible for one to really know without seeing it in person. Your best resolution will have to come through OKAI. Good luck
@@angrybeard4673 Thank you, seems like an intermitten issue, today I got it charged to 100%, I will take it for a ride a see how it goes. have a nice one!
I messaged up not realizing you cant take the bottom plate off and and took the screws out of the bottom and tried to take a flat head and hammer it loose, doing so offset the screws that are place in the center areas not the ones on each furtherest ends do you know what i have pushed that displaced the screw mounts ? I have the exact scooter with the same exact problem. If you can help that would be much appreciated great video none the less
where would i be able to purchase a replacement battery for my okai neon? i’ve looked online and nothing seems right? any help would be appreciated thank you!
@@jaydendelgado1482 you will have to contact okai and have them sell you one. They are around 500 bucks. Sooo. Just saying. Might just consider getting a new scooter unless yours is still under warranty.
Thank you for the video. I just bought one and I am expecting it to arrive in the mail soon. What do you recommend I do? Return it, purchase another brand and stay away from this company? Get an extended warranty?
Yea. Thats a good question. And I'm not sure really. I had a problem and what shouldve been an easy resolution was a shit show. I think that the best path forward would be to buy it from Best buy and pay for the extended warranty. Then if you have problems you vould just return it to best buy and avoid dealing with the manufacturer. There was no way I was just going to be ok throwing away 900 bucks. So my own arguably immoral option was going to be. To buy another one from best buy and then put this junk in the box and return it for a full refund a week later. Sooo. Goodluck. I have repaired mine and it has been fine so far. Regardless, I had to go through to much for me to be ok with it.
you seem to know your way around this scooter, I bought the same one but in Switzerland it is limited to 12 mph... Do you have a solution to remove the speed limiter ??
I don't know this for a fact, I've never tested my theory. But my theory is that the small blue wire that is attached to the middle of the circuit board on the speed controller is the speed sense wire. Not the big blue wire under there but the small blue wire. Clip it and see, if it was wrong, just put it back together. Roll back the grip tape from the front, remove the speed control unit, clip the small blue wire. If I'm correct, it will no longer know how fast it's going. You'll most likely lose your speedometer and possibly the front regenerative braking. Over here in the USA they are limited to 20mph, 12 is a selectable option. We just cycle through the speed options by double tapping the power button. Though I have never actually tested my theory. I can tell that it is capable of over 20mph because I feel the computer holding it back. So, don't be surprised if it goes stupid fast when unlimited
These scooters are junk. I have the exact same one. Here lately it only turns on when it wants to. One day I'll turn it on and it will be fine. I'll ride it no problems. The next day it wont turn on at all, then later on it will. I've also had it leave me stranded as I rode it a couple miles and turned it off. Come back a few minutes later now it wont turn back on. This past week it had been working flawlessly. Turned on every time and ran fine. Ran the battery down to 25%. Plugged it in and it charged to 100%. Now it wont turn on at all. I figured I'd give it a day or 2 and it would start working again. Nope its been 5 days and still wont turn back on. I should add that this is a refurbished unit they sent me. My original one wouldn't charge to 100%. I sent it to Okai for repair and they said they couldn't repair it and sent me this refurbished unit which was in worse shape than my original one. Now the refurbished unit won't work. My wifes Neon 2 ES20 also had to go back for repair. The headlight would stay on even when the scooter was off. I couldn't turn it off. It would finally turn off when the battery died. Put the scooter on charge and as soon as the battery get a little bit of juice the light would come back on. I sent that one back to Okai and they replaced the display. Hers has been fine ever since but I have no faith in this company. I'll never buy another Okai product for as long as I live.
@@Volfan812 Yea. Thats dissapointing. I wouldnt buy another one myself. I dont really know what I would buy. Maybe a Segway. Other than telling you to pull up the rubber mat and pull out the speed controller and unplug and reconnect all the connections. I wouldnt have any real concrete advice for your scooter. I've seen problems like that come down to a corroded or poorly seated connection before. But , it's not the most likely scenario. It is possible though.
