What strikes me here is the colour dynamic in Osipova's performance. If she were a piano, I'd describe her as beautifully covering all the range from piano, through mezzo-piano, to forte in one variation.

Alina Somova's Italian fouettes have some very unique qualities about them. When she turns, her upper body seems to rotate slower than the other ballerinas' would, which give the fouettes really great nuances. I thought the fouettes she did in the Mariinsky's 2006 videotaped Don Quixote performance (you know, the one with Obraztsova and Novikova) were a fluke, but now I see she has always danced like that. Marvelous Alina.

She’s Now a principal at the Royal Ballet in London. This is an old video when she was still dancing in Russia. She left the Bolchoi in 2011 and became a principal in London, New York in 2012 and Milan in 2013. So maybe you’ll get a chance to see her elsewhere.
It takes something when Osipova comes second in the leaps! Somova was something else in these clips! She left the Marinsky. Does anyone know where she now dances? Must be a small company as nothing recent from her on youtube?
I agree with you that Somova's leaps were stunning, certainly the equal of Osipova's. To be honest I kind of doubted my eyes. You confirmed what I saw.

Да ну?! Егор Геращенко (Премьер БТ), Элеонора Севенард (Балерина БТ), Мария Хорева (Первая солистка МТ) выпускались Н.М. Цискаридзе. Есть в Вагановском совсем юные звёздочки - Ясмина Азиз.
